Lace over satin bra and garter set - shelf bra, panty and garter belt set discontinued by Coquette - review by ~LaUr3n~

This is one of those pieces that I refused to get until I fit in the medium, and the medium I did buy, and fit in! This three piece set is a steal for the price. It's even worth it for the gorgeous garter alone. This set is very adjustable to fit a larger range of sizes within each size offered. It's made really well and has the perfect mix of sexy and classy even with the amount of skin it shows.

This set from Coquette has three pieces:

This set is made of 100% polyester exclusive of the trim. The trim includes, some spandex, plastic, faux rhinestone, satin, lace, and metal. There are a lot of materials! There is a bit of padding in the cups too, about 3/8". The wine colored polyester is gorgeous. Most of it is covered with a stretchy black lace. The polyester doesn't stretch, however. The lace is pretty soft and thicker than most. It feels very well made and isn't incredibly delicate and susceptible to snagging. The mesh for the band of the bra is the stretchiest part of the set. The ribbon through out really ties together all the materials beautifully.

The top of this set is a bra with balconette, shelf cups. Compared to demi style bras, this means that the cups are about 1 /3 of the size and sit on the bottom of the breasts to offer lift and still expose them. There is a little bit of fabric below the metal underwire to help support the bra further. The band is like a bra's and is made of see-through mesh. It clasps with double eye and hook closures. There are three sizings to choose from, each about 1/2" apart. In the center of the bra, between the cups are two faux rhinestones. They are obviously cheap and made of plastic, but they look nice if you aren't right up next to them with an inspecting gaze. The straps are very thin, thinner than regular bra straps and are adjustable in the back for strap length.

The garter belt is the prize winner of the piece. The band is as thick as a standard bra strap and does not stretch except for the part in the back. That part is stretchy like a bra strap and adjusts like one too to fit multiple hip sizes. The band has gorgeous wine, maroon (my favorite color!) threaded through it. in the very center in a small bow of the same ribbon. In the center of the ribbon is another circle rhinestone that matches the top. The garter can be slipped on or the back also detaches like garters do.

The triangles are 5" wide and 6" long. They are made of black lace and have another piece of lace running down the canter of them that goes into the garter strap. This piece of lace has the same ribbon running through it. The garter straps have a max length of 6", 3 1/2" for the minimum. To determine if these are too long or short for you. measure from where you would wear the garter belt (hip line probably) down to where you would want your stockings to land. If it is between 9 1/2" and 12" below your hip line, then you are good to go. The garter attachments are METAL! Yeay! The other piece is plastic. They feel well made and at least the metal makes it more durable.

The panties are a bit...off. There is a small square piece of doubled lace and polyester in the front with two bows, one on each side. There are two straps that go from the front under, through the legs, and then they strangely attach in the back to be a sort of g-string. The quality is pretty low compared to the rest of the set, but they work if they fit.

*Cleaning/care/storage: Hand wash/cardboard box

The tag says to hand wash. It's okay in the wash on a cool cycle if you put it in a lingerie bag or pillow case (tie the end). You can spot clean too. Hang it or lie it flat to dry. I wouldn't put it in the dryer due to the rhinestones. It came in a plastic bag with a hanger for storage.

This item is one of the best I have seen lately for being right on with their sizing chart. For this item, since it is old. I am using Eden's chart for Coquette. The garter belt is very adjustable and the band of the bra is very stretchy, so those who are in between sizes could go with the lower one if they don't mind things cutting in a tiny bit. The bra cups are the most troublesome part.

According to Eden's chart, the medium should fit dress sizes 8-10, cup B, band 36-38", waist 26-30", and hip 38-40". I weigh ~142 pounds, size 7/8); curvy but fit with a ~34/36 D bra size. My hips are about 38".

The bra was the most troublesome part of the outfit. My breasts were supported by them, yes. BUT, they looked more like cones. If you have smaller than size C breasts, these cups are going to do nothing for you. They tilt out, and you don't have enough to fill them, it's going to look like some sort of sexy space age prostitute outfit. If you breasts are too large, they will go over the cups and you won't see the bottom of them. You will still be somewhat supported by the underwire, however. I also noticed that the cups didn't cover me to the very sides of my breasts. My partner LOVES side boob, so I didn't mind, but you might. Fake breasts that are size D would do WONDERFULLY.



The band of the bra is very stretchy. I wear it on the smallest option, so this means it will probably be able to fit up to 40", not 38".



The garter is very comfortable and the adjustable part of it is great. I wear it somewhere in the middle, and so that means it will probably fit up to about 41" or so. The garters are a good length for me, but I'm 5'6". Use the formula I described earlier to figure out if these will be the correct length for you.

The panties are much smaller than the rest of the set. They cut into my hips a little and are probably best for those with hips 36" or smaller. It's easy to pair the set with a different pantie, though. The crotchless part isn't really the best for sex but does work if it fits well enough.

*Conclusion: 4 Stars

I'm giving this 4 stars because of the top not being great for many breast sizes. Usually, certain breast sizes will just look better than others but the margin of error for this top is large. I'm lucky I'm in the right size range. The pantie could also use some work. The garter belt is gorgeous and adjusts so well that it earns the four stars for this piece alone.

I have to admit that I have only worn the bra part of this two or three times. I prefer to wear the garter belt alone with stockings and sexy heels. It drives my guy wild! It works well for under dresses too. For this, it's a great piece. i just wish the bra part was better!
