Lace over satin bra and garter set - shelf bra, panty and garter belt set discontinued by Coquette - review by Bethy Cassatt

-Overall-

It's a simple, cheaper set of lingerie designed to be some spice in your bedroom life. It's not too complicated or difficult to put on: the shelf bra sits comfortably and hooks on like any old bra, the underwear rides a bit low but looks fine, and the garter belt buttons on near the underwear. It ain't hard. So, easy to put on, easy to get off, looks good for however long you wish to wear it, and you could even hide it away underneath a top and a skirt. That's a pretty good deal.

Just... The overall outfit is not my thing. I'm not that impressed by the outfit, but I'm very glad at how much I was able to get so much for thirty bucks. It's good, but I wouldn't buy an outfit like this again.

-The Bra-

The bra (like the underwear and garter belt) is made out of lace and satin, and is designed to be a shelf bra, allowing the nipples to poke above the cloth line and have a nice little show. Easy access. Ya know the drill. However, as much as the bra fits around me and the straps can be tightened to the right length, the cups of the bra cover entirely too much to be called a shelf bra. My nipples are completely hidden.

The cups are not tight enough to cut off access to my breasts, and if I had enough mind to do so, I could fish myself out enough to achieve the effect wanted, but it's just a little annoying. I wish that it was just so, but eh, just because it's not perfect or what I was looking for doesn't mean it looks bad. I like the way the black lace and dark ribbon look on me. I'm bothered, but I'm not going to stop wearing it.

-The Underwear-

The crotch-less thong (well, the square of fabric with four elastic straps) rides a little low for my tastes, and the fabric was so small, my bikini trip was still leaving me feeling like a hairy cat. I really had to trim down, and the straps really dug in. It's not very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Now, I did know what I was buying, so I should have known and dealt with it, but I was still disappointed. I'll be posting an accompanying video with this review showing off some of the peculiarities about this underwear.

-The Garter belt-

The garter belt is very cute, and because it is separate from the underwear, I could easily use this for any other outfit, or even just exclude the underwear all together and only wear the bra and garter belt. At the time I bought the outfit, there was a special that included a free pair of hose with the set! The garter belt itself is pretty nice, with the play of satin and and lace, and the adjustable straps are easy to use, so I was a little disappointed by the cheesy, too-thin hose that was included. (It's not really a problem with the set itself, but now I have to purchase a better pair elsewhere.) Besides that, the flashy little add-ons to the garter, like the sparkly button and the tiny bow, will probably fall off eventually with use, but everything else is sewn together pretty well.

I wasn't extremely pleased by how the whole thing together looked on me. I felt a little silly, but I will probably use the bra again and again in the future. My boyfriend gave his stamp of approval, and I suppose I'm waiting for a good night to wear it underneath a nice dress and surprise him, but in the meantime, it's been hiding out in my closet underneath my bras in the bin.
