Opaque thigh highs - hosiery by Leg Avenue - review by Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

Overview:

There's really no way to go wrong with these sexy thigh-highs. Even though most stockings out there are sheer, these certainly have a place in anyone's lingerie collection. They're great when worn with short skirts! If you're digging the look of stockings, but don't want to show too much skin, these are a true winner! They're offered in a few different colors. (I plan on owning all of them.) They also make a great base for adding on to. You can add bows, rhinestones, designs, or whatever else strikes your fancy!

Material:

The last pair of stockings I got that weren't fishnets were a total disaster because the material was so thin and the band was way too loose. I bit the bullet and ordered more hoping that was a design flaw of the last ones. Honestly, I was surprised by these. They're made of a pretty thick nylon that is more opaque than the picture suggests. The only place where they became the slightest bit sheer was around my knee, but I also have those small legs, so the material wasn't stretched a whole bunch. This thicker material resists runs and pulls beautifully. Even if you do get a run in them, it's not something that's easily noticed. These stockings aren't really delicate at all which is a major plus to me because I'm hell on mine. The nylon is pretty smooth, but it is thick, so it's not as totally smooth as some of the sheer stockings out there. It is very comfortable, though.

Sizing:

I'm short and I have skinny legs. Thigh-highs usually end up all the way up to my butt. These, on the other hand, are actually shorter than most of the other pairs I own. They came up as thigh-highs on me, but they may be a little low for anyone over 5'4. I actually enjoy them being slightly low because I can wear them under short skirts and still have the top band showing. (Maybe that's the point?) The nylon hugs my legs wonderfully. The top band of them is actually pretty tight on my leg. My thighs are slightly less that 18" around and these stayed put and didn't slip. I realize that my legs are skinny, so these also may be a touch too small for those with averaged-sized or larger thighs.

Quality:

I really like these. I was really surprised at how well they work for me and how nice the quality of the material was for the price. These are stockings I feel like I'll have for quite a while because they've held up to some abuse already. I can't wait to collect all the colors to compliment various costumes. They're even nice enough to wear while lounging around the house (if you're like me and you wish you could wear stockings all the time.

Care:

With all nylon stockings, you'll want to hand wash these in cool water with only the slightest amount of soap. I usually only use soap when it's seriously needed. Hang these to dry. Towel racks or shower rods are great for this. Once dry, I roll mine up together and place them in a lingerie bag so they're free of getting separated and/or snagged on things.

I actually got these because I needed an opaque pair of black stockings to shred and put holes in for a costume I'm making. I expected these to be the perfect pair for that, but now I really don't want to put any holes in them because I like them so much! I really think that I'll grab another pair to do that to. These stockings are a total win in my book. You can't beat that tiny price.

These are some of the few stockings I have that I know will stand the test of time. I'm still impressed by the quality of the nylon and how durable it's been. These have become a part of my normal wardrobe, even. They're slightly warm and incredibly cozy!
