I'm Kissing This One Good-bye!

The Cupid Kiss is kind of like making out with a distant cousin: it may not be necessarily wrong, but it's not exactly right, either.

Use

On paper, the Cupid Kiss has it all: good looks, strength, easy to be with -- basically everything you would look for in a partner. Marketed as a g-spot vibrator, the Kiss is versatile enough to work double time as a clitoral vibe, or (for those brave enough) even provide a fair amount of anal stimulation. It has a wide selection of vibration patterns which should give the user plenty of variety to choose from, whether you like a simple constant buzz or prefer to mix up the motion.

Cupid can be used both for solo play or with a partner, but if you do decide to share the love be warned: it's size can make it a bit cumbersome to use during traditional intercourse. When it comes to masturbatory purposes, however, it is quite easy to use the Kiss with other toys or by itself.

What ever your intended use is, the fact that it's totally waterproof only makes it better. Again, a warning: Submerging the toy in the bathtub only aplifies the noise coming off of it, so if being discreet is your aim you may want to stick to shower play.

Material / Texture

The Cupid Kiss is made of TPR Silicone, making it both soft and firm depending on just how much pressure you're applying. It's velvety feel has a little bit of drag to it, but once lube is applied it has an effortless glide that is nothing short of comfortable. I did notice a slightly visible seam running the length of mine, but it was completely undetectable upon insertion.

The front part of the shaft (being the side with the slight "head" to it) is covered from top to bottom with soft ripples of various sizes, whereas the back portion is completely smooth over it's top half, with some smaller ripples along the bottom portion, working their way down to the base.

Design / Shape / Size

When it came to appearances I had no complaints. It's an inviting looking vibe with beautiful curves that scream comfort. The light pink is very pleasing to the eye (even for someone that may not particularly care for the color in the first place), finding the right balance of boldness and softness.

The slight angle to the head makes a decent g-spot finder for those who might not know where theirs is located, and is firm enough to apply a decent amount of pressure once there. Those who like pin-point accuracy probably won't care much for it though, since it is only a small head without a lot of punctuation. The tip, as well as the smoother "back" side of the shaft can also be used for clitoral stimulation, allowing the user to choose between more spot-on vibrations or a general all over feeling.

Upon visual inspection the size of the Kiss might seem a bit much to the beginner's eye, but I found the overall shape made it great for adjusting the penetrative depth to whatever your preference may be.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Cupid Kiss has one control button located at the base of the unit. Depending on what angle you're holding it at the button can be a bit hard to press, but if using with a partner this problem is pretty much nonexsistant. Once pressed, the Kiss offers a different vibration setting with each click, including:

~ steady low hum
~ steady mid-range hum
~ steady high hum
~ rollercoaster-like waves
~ low pulse
~ higher pulse
~ steady REALLY HIGH hum
~ "shuffle" mode, or what I like to call "I think this thing is having a seizure"

Turning the unit off can be achieved by either clicking through each of the settings, or holding the button down for a few seconds.
    • Multiple settings
    • Strong patterns
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

While the packaging states that this toy is made from 100% silicone, I'd like to err on the side of caution and go with Eden's label of TPR. Since it is made from TPR, it's not quite as perfect as 100% silicone in terms of safety, but it's not terrible either. It should only be used with a water-based lube, as silicone lubes can damage the product. The preferred method of cleaning is anti-bacterial soap and warm water. Since it's slightly porous surface makes complete sterilization impossible, because of this I also recommend using the toy with a condom if you intend on sharing or using it for anal stimulation. The material does tend to attract a fair amount of lint, so I strongly recommend cleaning this particular toy not only after but before use as well.

Packaging

The Cupid Kiss comes in a fun purple cardboard box with a magnetic closure along the back flap. The numerous panels cover everything from the physical aspects of the toys materials to instructions on usage and maintenance, and also include a chart of the various settings. While you could use the packaging as a gift box, it won't make the most discreet choice, as a large window is cut into the front of the package and a clear clamshell proudly shows off what's tucked away inside. It does work well as a storage option, as it's easy to get the unit in and out, but the box itself isn't very conducive in terms of space efficiency.
    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet
    • Very informative

Personal comments

For what it's worth, the Cupid Kiss would be a great toy for nearly everyone, but for me it just sort of fell short. I don't really see myself breaking this out much more in the future, just because I couldn't really get anywhere with it. I might give it another try or two down the road, but not for a while. There wasn't anything really WRONG with it, but for some reason we just weren't right for each other. Sure, the vibrations seemed pretty strong (and I'm all about strong vibes), the size (both girth and length) was fantastic, and overall it was just a well-built piece of equipment. There was just no spark. The easiest way for me to explain it would be likening it to a friendly ex. There is no longer any sort of intimacy in the relationship, but things didn't end all that badly, and at the very least you've now got a decent buddy who will always be there.
