Pocket rocket by Doc Johnson - review by RM

Take off with the Pocket Rocket!

While I haven't tried any of the less pricey versions of the Pocket Rocket, it maybe be worth doing some research. It was a great vibe until the casing broke, then it was a great memory.
Good starter vibe for clitoral stimulation; strong enough to get you there in a big way.
Could use more attachments; the price is high for this uni-tasker; the vibrations can be loud.

The pocket rocket is ONLY for external use. I got just a tiny bit too curious with it once, and I'll never do that again. For me, it worked best for solo play. When I tried using it with my boyfriend, I couldn't get a very good angle with it as long as we were facing each other, so it's not as versatile in that respect.

Material / Texture

The hard plastic delivers strong vibrations, more than if it had soft attachments. The spiky/nubby attachment always offered a great sensation, spreading the vibrations over the area while directing them at all those little points. No smell, and it felt comfortable in my hands when used as a clitoral stimulator.

Design / Shape / Size

Here's where the one issue I had with this comes in. The head of the vibe (not the attachment, but the part with the three shiny half-balls) fits into the base with two nodes that sort of lock into it. After I had the Pocket Rocket about a year, the base cracked slightly and the head didn't lock in as well anymore. Wrapping electrical tape around the base helped a little, but alas, my very first vibe and I were destined to part. It's not that it was a poor quality toy; I maybe have handled it too roughly, or weakened the plastic by dropping it at some point.

It's certainly easy to hide, but not discreet. As one of the most recognized sex toys out there (especially by name), most people who see this know exactly what it is. It's fine for travel - just make sure you remove the battery beforehand because I imagine it could turn itself on in your bag relatively easily.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Excellent performance, and great on battery life. The controls are wonderfully simple, and I could turn it on and off with one hand as I got used to it. Again, powerful vibrations that bring a powerful climax when used on the clitoris!

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning is not bad, I just would remove the head and attachment and wash them separately. Because of the length of the spikes/nubs on the attachment, that part took more time to thoroughly clean. I usually would remove the battery to prolong the battery life if I knew I wasn't going to use it for a while, as it's easy to put in and take out. I stored it in a lined bag near my bed.

I believe the Pocket Rocket comes in a blister pack, and there weren't really any instructions except that it should only be used externally. You don't need any instructions, though - it says right on the base which way to turn it for On/Off and which way allows you to insert/remove the battery.

Personal comments

I was glad that the Pocket Rocket was my first vibe. It was simple, unintimidating and powerful enough to make me want to explore more sex toys.
