Best for first time anal sex

Contributor: NarcissisticLust NarcissisticLust
My boyfriend and I are considering anal sex but I'm not sure what lube would be best. Would it be better to use a water-based lube with a condom, or oil based with no condom? It would be more smooth and hygienic to use a condom, but water based lube would dry up while oil based lube stays around awhile longer.

Opinions and experience?

I dont think its ever a good idea to use oil based lube. I could be wrong about that though. But i think silicon lube is renowned for staying slippery for a long time. But so are some water based lubes. These are just informed opinions as i have yet to partake in full anal.

I'd got with a water or water/silicone based lube, with a condom (of course).

Given that oil isn't really absorbed into your body that fast (or that well?), you could have a slippery bottom for a while after the act. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of oil based lubes.

If you work with water based lube, you'll use more than normal. If you pair that up with a dab of silicone lube, they work together really well!

I'd start with a water-based lube. Oil and silicone lubes are harder to clean up and can cause staining of fabrics, also I find many silicone lubes to be a bit thin for anal use. Condom vs no condom is a personal preference.

As long as you use enough lube and are moving you shouldn't have to reapply too much, unless you are the type who can have sex for a very long time. If your lube contains glycerin it will tend to pull water from the rectum to replace water that dries up as well.

Safe sex requires a condom, but if you are 'safe' together then I'd recommend KY jelly and no condom. You cannot use oil based lubes with latex condoms as they will break down and fall apart. I suppose the condom will make it smoother/easier for him to enter, but it isnt required. KY is the best (Walmart's equate brand is great) because the jelly is thicker and lasts longer than liquid lubes. If it does dry out after a while all it takes is water or saliva to make it slick again.

Go slow, loosen up first and have fun!
