This is NOT a lubricant.

Depends on the need, but keep in mind some limitations:

Saliva has bugs in it and can cause a problem if you're susceptible.

Saliva isn't generally thick enough for anal use.
wait wait... what?

"Saliva has bugs in it..."?

umm...

Uh... I'm hoping they mean bacteria? Cause if they mean bacteria I'm pretty sure the poop shoot has way worse bacteria in it than your mouth lol.

Ugh, that just makes me think of that one scene in Kill Bill... *shudder* But then, that Vaseline jar was abnormally gross - not the way any sensible person would keep their petroleum.

Aside from spit (which technically is a lubricant, really), I've only used stuff made for the purpose.

oh no no no that is almost as bad as the story I heard about a guy that thought jelly (like the kind for bread) would make oral sex better. That women is likely baking beard down there now.

I've heard some guys use lotion for rubbing one out, but I've never wanted to use anything other than lube internally. I get irritation from lubes that have glycerin, etc. in them, so I am super careful about what goes near kitty. I don't even want to think about shampoo!! Ouch.

The only non-lube product I've ever used was olive oil, because my lady parts doctor recommended it to me after a change in birth control made it harder for me to get as wet as I was accustomed. It worked pretty fine but it still felt sort of weird using a household product like that and I didn't feel like having to assure my partner that it was safe to use each time.

I heard a story from a friend's friend who used to work at a gas station convenient store. One night some drunk guy walked in and demanded lube. He managed to convince the guy that the hand sanitizer was lube and the reason it says kills bacteria 100% on the label means it was a spermicide. I don't want to know what happened to the guy later on.

I've used lotion and some conditioners as lube. I prefer using lotion though, it's cheaper than lube and I go through tons of it. XD

I've used lotion or olive oil for external use only when I have no lube on hand. I almost always have lube on hand though. If I don't I'll try saliva before anything else.

*giggles* I was browsing lube on Amazon & hidden among all the sexual type lube I suddenly came across "Intova Silicone Grease for Underwater Equipment." Now, apparently this is actually for camera lenses, but I was just reading along... "Oh, a special kind for underwater... neat. Wait... equipment? I have heard it called that, but...Ohhhhhh!" My laugh for the night.

My guy was digging in our drawer in the dark last night and grabbed hand lotion by mistake! Ouch! Luckily it only went in my backside before I told him it hurt.

There is a big difference between things that are slippery enough for jerking off and things that will work for penetration.

But as far as non-lube based products that will work (not necessarily with condoms, but hey...), I'm a fan of saliva, cooking oils (olive or coconut), crisco, and Huberd's shoe grease

I read something similar in a local paper. The column is like dear abbey, but funny. Guy used soap as lube for masturbation and had a horrible reaction, and it hadn't subsided in a week... Can't believe the guy hadn't gone to a doctor.

I would NEVER do something like that. I'm too smart! Ha ha. The only thing close to this I've done is use lotion to give my boyfriend a hand-job. It didn't go anywhere near my insides and the worst it could have done is make our skin silky-smooth. :"D

My boyfriend and I have used shampoo in the shower, but not for anything with penetration. He used a little bit on my clit and I used it to help with a hand job, and we didn't have any adverse reactions.

Soap in the shower, lube otherwise. I don't understand how women could find it pleasant to use something irritating like soap :S

No I use only lubricant on my parts! I'd be too worried I'd get a reaction to even try something that's main purpose isn't lubricant.

God lord no. I'm extremely chemical sensitive, and I have to watch out with REGULAR lubes to avoid a painful reaction. No way would I use something not intended for the purpose that I didn't have an ingredient list for.
