Shaved or not shaved, that is the question!

Contributor: Naughty Student Naughty Student
I had a discussion with a few friends and we were discussing how pornography was so detrimental to everyone's self-esteem (bcs they portray the ideal of what a man and a woman must look like) and we talked about who liked shaven or hairy pussies. The group I was with all agreed that they hated a completely shaved pussy.

So my question goes out to everyone do you shave? Whether you are a male/female what is your preference, and those who do shave (or not) why do you do it/not do it?

I've been shaving it mostly to completely off for many years now. The first time I did it I didn't like it, but when I let it grow back I hated that even more... I don't mind having a "landing strip" and whatnot, but it's time consuming to keep it looking good.

All shaven, all the time.

This is a hard one to answer for me. I am shaved completely right now but I usually do not do it. I just kept messing up the symmetry of the hair that was left so decided to kill it all. LOL

From 13 - 18 or so, I shaved it all. I stopped when my husband (well, then boyfriend) suggested I leave a patch so for the past few years it's been that.

I hadn't done it in a long time, but when I did as a surprise, my husband liked it so much I decided to keep it that way. I't been shaved for a few months, and I don't mind it that way at all. Now if I could get him to

I don't shave, but I am bare. I use the EmJoi epilator. I just prefer it for myself. Been doing it over 10 years.

I started shaving everything for my hubby about six months ago and I really prefer it.

Been shaved bare for the past 2 years, pretty consistently unless I ran out of razors or didn't feel like it.

I usually shave but as Adriana Ravenlust has pointed out, when I screw up the asymetry of my "bermuda triangle" or "landing strip" I just shave it all off. Sometimes I leave a square.

I started shaving when I was maybe 14 or 15. I epilate my bikini with one of those noisy epilating machines but I shave my labia. I even wax my butt crack bcs I get pubes that grow downwards into that area and I don't find it very flattering.

I usually have to wait about a week and a half before I can shave again or else my pussy gets so raw and tender. If I have sex right after I shave the saltiness of sweet makes my pussy lips burn like hell but I don't really mind bcs I can always dry myself off with a towel. Can anyone relate?

I've been shaving pretty much daily for fifteen years. I dunno if I can even grow a landing strip anymore!

I would shave if my man didn't have a strong preference for everything as nature made it.

It annoys me if a girl doesn't shave, although I suppose a 'landing strip' of sorts is okay. I'm disinclined to go downstairs if there's hair down there, though.

Also, somewhat amusingly, I started using nair (or one of those products, I can't remember what it's called actually) for my 'package'. It works surprisingly well and is much more convenient than shaving, although it smells bad

I also have the issue where I look symmetrical from my angle but then he'll tell me "it's not even." LOL

Nair never works on my pubes or even stubborn hair anywhere else. It really works only on the finer hairs that aren't such a big deal.

I used to go bare when i was dating a guys, but since I got engaged, I keep the hedges neat and trimmed but i'm no longer scorching the earth, and my fiancee doesn't either. I really dislike the look of being completely shaven on myself and other women. To me it just looks prepubescent. We find natural to be much sexier and more comfortable. I guess I just don't understand the huge appeal of a hairless pussy. To each their own though.

Yeah, Nair doesn't do anything for me either. Just a waste of money... I wish I could find a product like that that worked.

Yeah I usually have to do it to get most hair gone and then do it again a couple days later

I'm a trimmer...lol! I can't stand long pubic hair, so I 'scape.

I was a lover of a good brazilian for a long time, but that got expensive. When I do shave, I use hair conditioner. I find that it softens up the follicles and gives less razor burn.

I started shaving each night four years ago because I knew my boyfriend at the time was a big fan of that. Then I realized how much nicer it was not to be all bushy down there, and even though we broke up a few months later, I kept shaving. It just feels cleaner to me (esp. during that time of the month), and it's easier to clean up after play. Never done any designs on myself or had a landing strip.

I agree that completely shaved can sometimes look too young. I usually shave anywhere that's outside of the bikini line and trim everything else really short. The few times that I have shaved everything, the itch when it grows back has been unbearable.

I trim low (1/10" on the guard) all over my vulva. If I had the disposable income, I'd probably get waxed on my outer labia and the edges of my mons, then trim rest of my mons to maybe 3/4".

I have been shaved for awile, tried designs but I usually screwed up, so now everything comes off. My skin has adjusted to it.

oh gods, the itching when it's growing back drove me crazy! that was definitely a sticking point for us too.

Yah, the itching and the ingrowns and the bumps are a huge part of why I stopped shaving and starting epilating. No itching, rarely ever an ingrown and there are no bumps or irritation or burning. It's such a better (tho more painful) option for those who do want to be bare - at least for me.

I figure that the partner is the one who is going to find it attractive or not, so why not do whatever your partner prefers? As long as it's within reason of course

I go from bouts of shaving to not shaving, but typically keep it very closely trimmed.

I see what you mean here, but i feel like you should really be relying on what you want first when it comes to your body. And that's not just in the extreme cases of a partner loving bright green dyed pubes styled with gel in a faux hawk (wow, i sort of want to try that now XD). I say do what makes you feel sexy and if you FEEL attractive, it comes across.

With some women, it does go the other way around where they need to see that they are attractive to others before feeling sexy themselves, but on the flip side if you do something to be more attractive to him/her and it doesn't feel sexy to you, that probably won't go away. I know a lot of women (myself included) who have been pressured into making decisions about their body that they weren't comfortable with because they felt like they needed to in order to be attractive to a partner (with males and females). I say do what YOU prefer, and if that's a problem with your partner, consider talking it out.

Agreed.

And may I add that I've found it best to stick with partners who find you attractive when you are the most comfortable with yourself. I think if you are comfortable with yourself, no one can make you uncomfortable.
