Shaved or not shaved, that is the question!

I used to shave but my husband is actually a fan of the dark triangle, so I now compromise and keep it closely trimmed. That way the dark triangle is still there but the hair is very short which feels good to me. I have to say I really like it that way more than I thought I would. It's much easier to maintain, too.

Sorry for the duplicate post, but it didn't want to go through so I hit post again and unfortunately it went through both times. Can a post be deleted once it's posted?

Thats usually how I am. I just don't shave it all off. I tend to keep a strip. Other wise I think I look prepubescent.

I've been using Nair Shower Power (sensitive skin or the exfoliating) for awhile now and while that's not actually its intended use, I've had really great results. No ingrowns or anything, and it lasts way longer than shaving (a week-two weeks). Ten minutes a week, pain free? yes please.
=)

Nair has never been effective on my thicker hairs.

I trim everything up first, so it doesn't have to do as much, but I can see how it just couldn't work for some. It is chemical, after all. I bought a waxing kit like, six months ago and haven't been able to bring myself to do it. haha

I won't lie, the first time is the worst. I can give you a few tips on making it not quite so traumatic, lol. A product like bactine that gently numbs the area will take the edge off (just make sure you rinse it off before you begin). Make sure your hair is long enough so it can be removed instead of just tugged on, but short enough too; when it's too long, you get tangling, and it pulls and leaves behind clumps of wax or adhesive, depending on the type of waxing kit. Work in small sections (about 1 to 2 inches long and about 1 inch wide is a good place to start) with the skin pulled tight. If you can afford it, I hear getting it done professionally the first time is a good idea.

Good luck when you do try!

I like to maintain, rather than shave it all off. I trim and shave about the edges, but I like to keep the 'triangle' shape.

I don't care for the fully shaven look because it reminds me of little girls who have yet to hit puberty.
Women have hair. Girls don't.

That's my reasoning. Plus, without hair, where's the cushion during sex? Haha!

Haha, Thanks! I was thinking a few shots of something strong beforehand. But a numbing agent sounds like a good idea too. lol I think I'll work up to it eventually, for now it waits in the bathroom closet until a day I feel brave. =)

I've never waxed there, but I have had my eyebrows waxed and for me, the spray that was used to numb it up did absolutely nothing and that's why I only did it once. It may have numbed the skin a bit, but it had no effect on the hair follicles underneath, and that's where some of the pain comes from. It may be different for other people.

Wow, I think I'm the only one here that does this, but.. I'm in the process of getting it all lasered off. I put a lot of thought into it, considering that in the future I may want to have a little bush, or a triangle/landing strip/etc.. but, given the opportunity to do it without having to really pay for it (I'm still leeching off of my parents while in college).. I couldn't resist.

For now, I think it's amazing. I haven't shaved/waxed/etc in months, and I'm still super smooth. The boyfriend likes it too, which for me, is a plus. I'm a people pleaser, so his preference makes a little bit of a difference in my decision making. Sometimes. (A girl's gotta have her "BACK OFF" boundaries, right? )

Before I got the laser treatments, shaving it all made me feel a little extra sexy. Even if no one would be seeing my clean-shaven area, it just added a little pep to my step when I did it. Now, I feel like a porn star all the time! (Except maybe on those granny-panty days..)

I trim it, though there was a year of my life where I forced myself to keep it shaved. My skin got used to it and stopped breaking out. Then I got pregnant, couldn't see down there, and said "whatevs." Ever since then, my husband just says trimmed is fine, and that's what makes me comfortable.

Just curious: how expensive is laser hair removal on the pubic region, how long does it last, and do you have to remove all of your hair with it? My sister had a friend who tried it, but said friend's hair was so course that it didn't even work. =/

Well, first off, it works best with light skin and dark hair. The more contrast, the better. As far as hair coarseness, I'm not sure. I had varying thickness (little thicker down under and under the arms), but they adjusted the intensity of the laser for me.

On just the pubic region, I think it may be somewhere around $200-$500, depending on the place. I went to Body Details because I like their lifetime guarantee. I'm getting more done, so I only remember my total cost. I just dug up my files, but I don't have the pricing page.

I'm pretty sure if you wanted to leave just a certain part, you could do that. Before going in, you're supposed to shave all the hair in the region (otherwise it hurts twice as much.. trust me), so I'm sure if you left a landing strip/triangle/etc, they just would avoid that patch. When they do the treatment, they draw lines all over to sort of section-off the skin they're going to treat. They could easily just mark your "patch" area as a no-laser spot.

The laser lasts a good number of weeks. It varies a little, but I've been totally hairless for.. I guess about 3 or so weeks? Now that I've done a bunch of treatments, I only have a few dots of awkward hair growth. My next appointments will be "spot treatments" to get the rest out.

I haven't shaved my legs (or needed to) for around 8 weeks now, if that's any indication.

I agree completely and so does my fiance, which is nice because I don't think I'd go back to completely bare even if my partner wanted me to do it.

I started trimming then shaving before my wife - once she tried it, she agreed that the feelings are more intense and erotic. I'm as bare as I can be - she leaves a little landing pad - I don't like it - but that's how it goes!

I shave and my dw sometimes does. Oral is so much better without hair in the teeth, and skin to skin contact is much more intense.

I have started recently shaving after an absense from it, and I like it more than I did before. Funny thing is that I have not had one itch from it like I did before. I agree with everyone who has said that the skin to skin contact is fabulous. And having my husband shave me occasionally is very erotic.

I don't shave, I trim. If I shave I get full of blisters down there and it hurts real bad when I try to pop them. It's bad enough I get boils from time to time down there!

Plus my hun likes me all natural, no shaving (except for legs/under arms), no makeup, etc.

It is probably razor burn if you are going against the grain.
I always have to go with it, or to the side of it, so I don't have the hair cut the skin, and have something similar occur.

For the most part, yes, except the part by my bellybutton, that grows down. Other than that it's every hair for itself, lol! Probably because it's so coarse it just kinda curls all over. Oh well, I'd rather not itch after a shave, that's especially bad in public, lol.

I shave it all off...but I truly hate the feeling of it growing back. I'm too poor to get waxing done, so most of the time I just trim it down neatly and that's that. I do like to shave every now and then as a nice surprise/treat for my partner (Usually accompanied by going commando in a skirt too).

I used to leave it all natural or just trim it a little, but recently I've started shaving it all off and have really enjoyed the look and feel of it.

I used to shave, but I don't really bother anymore because my husband confessed that it really made no difference to him and I found it difficult to keep up. Actually, he REALLY hated it when you had "day after stubble" and I just wasn't willing to do it daily (and I wouldn't want to get caught "unprepared" if the mood happen to catch us right). Sometimes I will trim up a bit, but meh... we just don't care anymore. Plus, I used to get pretty irritated sometimes and it is a pain to do it in the shower as I preferred doing it in a bath tub (and we don't have one now)
