A Beautiful Challenge!

The Sexy Spades large is the biggest of a series of three glass butt plugs by Doc Johnson. Weighing in at a hefty full pound and designed with an enormous maximum circumference, this tempered glass toy will definitely deliver intense sensations to any user willing to accept the challenge. Far from being a toy for novice or even intermediate users, this plug is best used by experienced anal players with a lot of care, patience, and good sense! Due to this toy's entirely rigid glass material and large size, being impatient or trying to force the toy into your anus, before properly warming up can cause tissue damage and discomfort.

Now for the good news: If you use this toy responsibly and listen to what your body is telling you, this toy can deliver nearly-unrivaled feelings of satisfying fullness and pleasurable, firm pressure. Its wide, smooth base will prevent this big thing going any farther than you want it to, and its total insertable length is just about the perfect size. While the Sexy Spades plugs don't have necks that are of much use for thrusting, I've found that just wiggling the toy around with my fingers while it's inside me, or simply leaving it be, are wonderfully stimulating on their own. I recommend heating or warming this toy before each session; try wrapping it in a clean, hot towel or washcloth for a couple minutes!

I personally rarely wear plugs around for long-term use, but the large Sexy Spades is highly unlikely to slip out, once firmly inside your rear. Due to its very large size and solid construction, I would advise keeping this plug in for no longer than two or three hours at a maximum. Perhaps due to my anatomy, I've found the round base of the plug is not uncomfortable for moderate-length use. I can comfortably walk around, lay down, and take a seat with Sexy Spades inside me. As with any plug, take care to slowly ease the plug both in and out of your body.

As mentioned above, this toy is made from totally smooth tempered glass; a non-porous, hypoallergenic material that cleans up very easily. This plug's material earns a 10/10 on Eden's safety scale -- for firm sex toys, glass and stainless steel are among the safest materials available. The Sexy Spades large has a very beautiful color swirl pattern around the bulb; this is one of the only toys I will stop and admire before using! Sunlight coming through this toy looks awesome:



While there is no texture of which to speak, I can definitely vouch for the unyielding material adding to a very intense full feeling; this plug will feel noticeably bigger than a softer plug with a similar circumference, like The Super Big End. This glass plug does not sport any sort of smell or taste, and will not retain scents at all if cleaned properly.

The design of the Sexy Spades plugs is gorgeous. I'm a big fan of the look of glass toys, and the vibrant swirls on this sleek plug never cease to amaze. The main swirl is a rich honey-like color, which illuminates nicely under natural light. This is accented by a darker navy swirl along the top portion of the plug's tapered design. The tip, bottom, and center of this plug are clear, so it's possible to somewhat see through the plug, through the bottom. While I cannot vouch for how this works in another person, I did take a photo to illustrate:



This toy is certainly beautiful to look at, but there's a more important issue -- Will it fit?

The large Sexy Spades plug is enormous. Measuring at around 4" of insertable length, the girth is the real challenge here. Since most of the glass on this toy are clear or light-colored, it's easy to underestimate the girth of this massive glass plug in-person. But place this big guy next to another butt plug (in my case, Doc Johnson's The Big End), you'll get a good idea of its scale:



This plug is big all-around. From its not-so-gently tapered tip to its gigantic maximum circumference of 7.5" and a 2.38" diameter, this is a toy meant for only more experienced and daring anal players. Even its neck is sizable -- coming in at nearly 4" around with a 1.25" diameter, the king of the spades will stretch you to your limits, and keep you stretched.



Due to its heavy weight of one solid pound and its rigid material, this may not be the best toy for travel. If you are moving this plug around, make sure to invest in a padded storage area for it, so it isn't in any danger of breaking. However, for those uninitiated in the joys of the world of sex toys, you may be able to pass this one off as a snazzy desk decoration!

This toy is designed for one purpose, and it fulfills that requirement wonderfully. If you consider yourself an average anal user, I would advise checking out the smaller cousins of this toy; the small and medium Sexy Spades. If you're an advanced player, who is looking for rock-solid anal stimulation and intense stretching, you've come to the right place! This plug will almost definitely require some stretching from one or several smaller toys beforehand, as well as a good lubricant and plenty of patience. The best and worst things about the Sexy Spades large are one and the same; its size.



If you are not gentle or careful enough when inserting this toy, you may be in for an unpleasant experience. But if you know what you're doing, this plug will give a firm, full feeling I've yet to have outdone by another toy. The glass tends to get very slippery very quickly, so I recommend trying to avoid getting the base and lower neck lubed up in order to maintain a solid grip on the plug. A good idea is to gently move up and down on the plug, taking just a tiny bit more each movement downward. Holding the plug in place at a place near, but before, the widest point, before moving on is advisable, if you feel any more girth will cause discomfort.

Glass is one of the best materials out there for sex toys. This plug works with any type of lubricant, doesn't need much lube to get slippery, and cleans up with ease. Tempered glass is fantastic for temperature play, and this plug heats up and chills out nicely. With a toy this size, I don't exactly recommend sticking it in ice water, but it's certainly an option. Surrounding the toy in a hot towel or warm water can make insertion a bit easier, but don't use boiling water as your butt might not appreciate quite so much heat.

I use a water-based lube for sessions with this plug, but a silicone-based lubricant will work very nicely, as long as you don't plan on using any silicone toys before or immediately after using Sexy Spades. After each use, I either:
a) wash the plug in hot water with antibacterial soap, before patting it dry with a lint-free towel, or
b) thoroughly clean the plug with a toy wipe (I use EdenFantasys toy cleaner wipes) before rinsing it in hot water and drying.

I use a velvety bag that I bought separately for storage. I make sure to keep it in a place where it won't be jostled around, just to be extra-safe. If you don't mind rinsing the plug off before each play session (which you should do anyway as good practice), storing it uncovered should be fine. The original packaging is worthless for storage, unfortunately.

The Sexy Spades large comes in a very minimal, clear plastic package. The box it comes in is clearly not meant for repeated use; I just tossed it into the recycling bin, shortly after receiving this toy. There were no detailed instructions as I recall, and nothing particularly notable besides the plug itself. Since the packaging is totally clear, I wouldn't recommend giving it to anyone, who might open it in front of a crowd of people who don't want to see a giant butt plug.
