Sexy spades large - sex toy by Doc Johnson - review by ScottA

Doc Johnson's has been making glass toys for a while, the Glass Dreams line, and they've recently expanded it with the Sexy Spades series of butt plugs. Colored like a sunset, these plugs are available in three sizes: small, medium, and large. The large model is truly large, a hefty specimen measuring 4-1/2” long and 7-1/2” around the bulge. I had to to a bit of digging to find out more about the material, but I eventually discovered it's tempered borosilicate glass, the safest glass for toys.

Doc Johnson's gave some thought to the design of this plug. The body is well tapered on both sides, so both insertion and removal are easy, and the long neck makes it easy to keep this plug in. Not only does it stay in securely, it also feels secure. Like the Tristan II, I never felt like this plug would pop out unless I wanted it too. Unlike the Tristan II, the base of the Sexy Spades Large snuggles up out of the way so you don't have to worry if you go outside in form-fitting pants. It's a comfortable base, too – well-rounded, thick, and not too big, but it's still circular and made of glass and therefore might be a bit uncomfortable if you put yourself somewhere where your buttocks will be pressed against it for a long period of time. I had no problems doing activities that mixed standing with shorter periods of sitting.

Since the Sexy Spades Large is made of glass, it has all of the benefits of that material. Glass is easy to clean and sterilize, and when lubed up it's super slick. The combination of the slick surface and the hard glass material made insertion much easier than I expected. The shape of the Sexy Spades Large allows you to easily rock back and forth during insertion, gently opening up your anus around this large toy, and this is a large toy. The short body length somewhat camouflages the width, and the 2-3/8” diameter of this toy makes it nearly as wide as a soda pop can. This isn't meant to scare you away (the Sexy Spades Large feels great inserted), but it's a toy that needs to be worked up to. If you push yourself too much, the slick, stiff glass could cause injury, so it's best to give yourself permission to work up to a toy this big.

The Sexy Spades Large is worth working up to if you're interested, though. It's the largest glass plug carried by Eden, and between the weight, potential for temperature play, and sheer rock-hard size - it feels very good. Like most other large plugs, the Sexy Spades Large doesn't move around much once inserted unless you wiggle the base, but it's size is enough to stimulate. The body of this plug is short in comparison to other large plugs such as the Ringo and A-Bomb, producing a different set of wonderful sensations. On top of the good design, the Sexy Spades Large is also a great value for a large plug.

After opening the box I spent a bit of time holding my new Sexy Spades Large plug, feeling both the weight and its smooth curves, knowing that glass toys are great for temperature play, I filled a bowl with hot water and left the Sexy Spades to soak while I got ready to try it out. Later, I tried the Sexy Spades at room temperature, and insertion was more difficult. I highly recommend warming the plug up before use.

I've been into anal play for a while, so I know that the proper way to insert a plug this large is to warm up with smaller toys to relax the anus, but I wanted the warm, slick glass to be the first thing I felt. After drying the Sexy Spades off, lubing it up, and setting it in position the entire toy was still nice and warm as it penetrated me. Insertion took a while, since I was cold, but it eventually slipped past the internal sphincter and all the way inside.

Once it was in place I had a pleasant surprise: in the pictures the Sexy Spades looks like it's colored, but in fact there's a clear core that allows you to look through the plug if you desire, another feature of glass plugs.

Over the past few months I've been able to get better acquainted with my Sexy Spades Large, and I still enjoy it very much. Since writing the first review I have been able to explore how the Sexy Spades Large works for long-term wear, and I am glad to say that it works very well.

In order for a plug to work well long-term it has to be secure, stimulating, discreet and comfortable. While not perfect, the Sexy Spades Large has at least 4 out of 5 stars for long-term use.

Wearing is believing - there is no doubt that this plug is secure. The long neck and pronounced body bulge ensure that it stays put as long as you want it to. The Sexy Spades Large is so secure, that I felt comfortable wearing it outside while I was doing yard work. Even through the muscular exertions of moving plants, around and the sneezes of hay-fever I had no reason to fear that the plug would come out. It stayed firmly put without me ever having to clench my anus or find some discreet way to hold it in with my hand. Top marks there. Comfort was not a question, either. The round base between my cheeks was definitely noticeable, in the "something's holding my butt open" way, but the base never irritated me, even while I was sitting down.

It was reasonably discreet as well. Although I wouldn't bend over while wearing the combination of the Sexy Spades Large,7 and a Speedo, while my neighbors were watching. I could bend over after weeds in the front yard, while wearing a pair of no more than usually baggy shorts without any fear of exposure.

Indeed, the only fear of exposure was related to the last criterion: that the plug be stimulating. The Sexy Spades Large is stimulating, and it gave my walk the "butt plug shimmy" - that little wiggle that creeps in to each step to intensify the stimulation. Fortunately I don't think anyone in the neighborhood was analyzing my walk for signs of my sexual habits, but I'll definitely need to keep that in mind the next time I wear the Sexy Spades out, because I'm certain that I will be doing it again.
