This toy was made for anal play and for beginners. You can tell just by looking at it. Overall, the narrow shaft just before the flared base and the fairly short length make it a great starter toy! I used it as my first anal toy, and I have been playing ever since! That alone is proof positive that this toy can be a boon to beginners. Because this toy is soft and not hard like dense silicone or glass might be, it is very forgiving if you don't insert it at just the right angle, etc. This is a welcoming and gentle toy. I like to stick it to the floor of the shower and sit on it. Using the suction cup, I can hump it in a frog-like position. I also like to just wear it sometimes if I'm moving around or playing with other parts. It's a very comfortable anal dildo. But the Anal Starter also serves as a great beginner butt plug! It doesn't slip out, and I can wear it for fairly long periods of time without any discomfort.

The texture of the Anal Starter is great. It works really well for me, although I can see how some people might be bugged by the numerous rigid little ridges near the head. I like the ridges, even though they're not very realistic. They feel too stiff, and there are too many of them to be anything like the skin on a real penis. However, they can feel really good on the opening of the anus. I really wish this toy was made of a nice, soft, and squishy silicone. I would purchase it in a heartbeat. The jelly material of this toy is its main drawback.

I love the design and shape of this toy. It's nice and petite but large enough that it is a challenge for a beginner. This toy is too small and squishy. I was never worried that I might hurt or bruise myself. The size is great for beginners and can remain useful for intermediate users as a warm-up toy. The look of the Anal Starter is not very realistic, but it is pretty. The ridges and the bulge of the head are nice touches. The flare just before the narrow section above the base is also ergonomic. This toy stays in surprisingly well for being so narrow. It stays in better than several of my other toys. This toy is also small enough that traveling with it would be fairly easy.

I don't think this toy would be harness compatible because the base is rather small and tapered. It's also very flexible, so I think that it would slip out of a harness fairly easily. The best thing about this toy is its overall shape. The suction cup works well and is useful. The base is large enough that it won't slip in but small enough that it's comfortable to sit on. The size of the toy is perfect for beginners. The little ridges near the tip of the toy might be a little too textured for some people. They can be slightly irritating at times if you're sensitive. The material that this toy is made of has been the only real con for me.

Cleaning this toy is fairly easy because it is small and only a little bit sticky. However, because it is made of jelly, you can never really sterilize it. This fact is somewhat of a pain and is the main reason I couldn't give the Anal Starter five stars. I clean the Crystal Jellies with soap and water before and after each use, and I use it with water or oil-based lubes. Neither of these lubes seem to damage the product. I store the Anal Starter at room temperature in a box with my other toys.

The packaging for this product was quite minimal. It's nothing you could use for long-term storage or gifting, in my opinion.

We haven't used this toy as a couple or exchanged it since it is made of jelly. I only use it for solo anal play with myself. Despite having several other anal toys, the Crystal Jellies Anal Starter has been my go-to toy for a long time now. It's great as a warm-up toy even once you graduate to more intermediate play. I'm probably too hard on this toy, given the price. I've been very pleased with how much mileage I have gotten out of such an inexpensive toy. Using this toy in the shower has been ideal for me. Sometimes, as a beginner, it can be difficult to perform an enema. As a beginner, I couldn't always get as deep of a clean as I wanted to. I found it was more comfortable to use the toy in the shower, just in case I made a little mess. This toy is great for that because of the suction cup.
