Handmaiden the original anal dong - probe discontinued by Topco Sales - review by Ward

The Hand maiden Original Anal Dong has been on my radar for a while now; but as a straight man who enjoys anal play, something was not sitting right with me. Maybe it was the design or the size, but I have to admit that I was a bit reluctant when I finally ordered this product. After reading several reviews I decided to stay positive and give the Handmaiden an honest chance to prove my gut reaction wrong.

I received my Handmaiden Original Dong in the mail earlier this week. Though I had seen pictures on the internet I was still very curious as to what it would actually look and feel like in person The Handmaiden Original Anal Dong came packaged in a clear plastic container that nicely displayed the product. Inside the clear package was the dong and a satin bag to store it in. Nice touch. The size was about what I expected. Just like the specs pointed out, it was 7” in length about 4.5” are insertable and the diameter is about 1.25 . To be honest I tend to like larger fare so even though I expected it the size was a bit of a letdown.

When I took the dong out, a couple things struck me immediately. First it had the smell of a dog toy or rubber ball; no big deal the odor did subside. Second it was very soft and flexible, in fact it was almost floppy. This wasn’t really a big deal either; I actually thought this could be an advantage for placement when it came time to actually use the dong. Also the ribs along the face of the head looked very exciting.

My experience with the Handmaiden was mixed. After applying water based lube to the dong(by the way no silicone based lubes with this toy, it’s silicone too), it did slip in fairly easily. While I was standing upright everything seemed to work ok. The handle worked very nicely and did offer control on in and out manipulation. The experience did change as soon as I moved from a standing position. The dong would push out and if I tried to push it back in it would stop and get a little uncomfortable if I tried to put it back in. I don’t know maybe it was the angle of the dong or my position but it just would not go in comfortably. I had to change tactics. I straightened up my body and I started to manipulate the dong from the base of the shaft and that did give me enough control to get it back in. Once I got my body in the correct alignment I was again able to use the handle and enjoy the toy. Honestly it did feel pretty good. During my session I attempted to target my prostate with the toy. Only after I started working it from the base of the shaft was I able to give myself a short but satisfying prostate massage. Though manipulation was difficult, once the handmaiden was on the prostate, the soft flexible nature of the product felt very nice.

Overall the Handmaiden isn’t all I hoped it would be but I’m not convinced I’ve tapped in to all it has to offer yet either. Who is it good for? A beginner may find it frustrating and uncomfortable to use if they are not in the correct position. It may also be a little long. An intermediate user my really enjoy this product. It’s not big or wide and once you have the position down manipulation is easy. You can even do some exploring with it.

An advanced user may find this product boring especially if you enjoy larger or more rigid toys. The instructions are quite clear and explain how to use the product and clean it as well. You could use the original container for continued storage but the product does come with a nice satin bag and keeps the toy discrete. The Handmaiden Original Anal Dong is made of non-porous, phthalates free, hypoallergenic, food grade, latex free, silicone so it’s very safe. To clean it up I used antibacterial soap and hot water. The packaging says you can also put this item in the dishwasher or you can boil it too.
