Not Exactly L'amour

I like this plug but I must highlight some weaknesses, although I have only had good experiences with it. The plug has a nice teardrop shape for easy insertion, is made of silicone, and is a good size for beginners, but may be too small for more experienced users. It has a base that is the same size as the bulge and the base is also flimsy, which could lead to the whole thing going too far inside you. Lastly, the ridges can be a little uncomfortable.

Use

This is a butt plug by California Exotics. The size is geared toward beginners, as it is fairly small and has a nice tapered tip that makes insertion easy.

It can be manipulated with your hands or by using the suction cup base.

It is suitable for anyone who is interested in anal play. The size should not rule anyone out, though the more experienced users may not be totally satisfied because it is rather small.

It has a flared base, but it is not as big as it should be. I did not have any bad experiences with this, it's just a good idea to be aware and cautious. The base is also a suction cup, so if you use it as such, that will also help keep it safe and removable.

In my opinion, the base was comfortable, but it is the same size as the lower bulge, which is worrisome because it could easily go too far.

Material / Texture

This is a 100% silicone plug. Silicone makes the toy non-porous and safe for sharing. It also makes the plug firm, yet flexible. It is firm enough to insert easily, yet flexible enough to do so comfortably. It is not so flexible that it is floppy.

There is no scent or taste that I could detect.

There are three ridges/seams along the sides of this plug. I think they are intended to be ridges but they could also pass as rather sharp seams. This is intended (I assume) to add texture and interest to what would otherwise be a basic, beginner plug. However, these seams/ridges are rather sharp and uncomfortable and I am not seam sensitive!

    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

This is a smooth silicone plug. It's size is small and geared toward beginners but there are three ridges along the sides of the plug and I believe this texture was added to try to make this more pleasing to advanced users.

However, the ridges, or very pronounced seams as it may be, are very uncomfortable. I am not seam-sensitive or a seam snob in any way but I could actually feel these. They felt sharp and a little pokey once I inserted the plug.

The plug itself is a great shape though. It is a teardrop shape and tapered for easy insertion. There is a bulb shape at the bottom and then it goes into a small neck that makes wearing more comfortable.

Below that is the suction cup base. The suction cup is a little too small (the same size as the bulge, which could lead to it accidentally going inside you) and flimsy to boot. The flimsiness of the suction cup makes it hard for you to get a firm grip on it to remove.

Performance

I have had no problems with this plug. I like the shape and the tip makes it very easy to insert. I also love that it's silicone. However, the ridges are a little rough and the base is small and flimsy, which could lead to accidents, although I have not had any.

Care and Maintenance

This is a silicone plug so it can only be used with water and oil-based lubes-- no silicone because it could react with the plug. It can be washed in a multitude of ways-- soap and water, toy cleaner, boiling, bleaching, or even the dishwasher.

It collects a small amount of lint, so I would suggest keeping it in the plastic box it came in, a ziploc bag, a toy bag, or something similar.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

It came in a very basic plastic box with the name and a little information. It would be fine to store the product in and would help keep lint off it. It is clear plastic so the contents are visible.

Follow-up commentary
I haven't used this much since the original review because I feel like the base is too small and flimsy. The ridges on the sides I think are to add interest and stimulation but instead just feel sharp and a little uncomfortable.
