The Moon Shine from SSA Glass is a medium-sized glass plug designed for anal play. It's probably best for intermediate users because of its size and firmness, but it's also a great first-time glass toy for those interested in a new material. Glass toys are different because they are a little heavier and more rigid than silicone or other materials. They also are very smooth and are compatible with any kind of lubrication. It can be a fun and enjoyable addition when inserted before intercourse or masturbation. It can also be used as a warm-up toy prior to anal intercourse.

The Moon Shine plug is composed of Pyrex glass, which is tempered and less prone to breakage. The texture is very smooth and takes to lubrication very well. Glass is very body-safe because it's non-porous and phthalate-free. It's also very easy to clean (see Care and Maintenance). Another aspect of glass is that it's very rigid. There is no give, so if you are new to anal play, then you will need to take it very slow and easy.

The design of the Moon Shine plug is like that of many other plugs. It is round at the top and widens in the middle before tapering off at its neck. At its widest insertion point, it's 1 5/8" and the diameter of the neck is 7/8". The color and shape of the plug is very aesthetically pleasing, too. The neck is clear glass but the main body of the plug is filled with gold and red swirls.

It should be noted again that this is a very rigid toy and not recommended for beginners, but rather for intermediate users. Advanced anal players will probably want something bigger.

Simply put, the Moon Shine is an incredible plug. It has a nice size, which isn't too big or too small. The weight of plug won't let you forget it's there, but at the same time its smoothness makes it very comfortable. Glass toys retain temperature well so the Moon Shine can be heated or cooled for sensation play. As long as it's used properly and with care, I can't think of anything negative to say about the Moon Shine plug.

Glass toys are very easy to clean. The Moon Shine can be cleaned by using warm water and soap. I also use alcohol wipes before putting it away. If you're going to share, it can be sterilized by boiling in water, or soaked in a bleach solution.

It's glass and therefore can be broken, so you should be careful not to drop it. The Moon Shine comes with its own storage bag, but it's not well padded so care should be taken when storing it. Also, you should check for any cracks in the glass before each use.

The Moon Shine plug came wrapped in bubble wrap, in its own red velvet bag. The bag is a nice way to store the plug between uses. There were no instructions, but there's really only one way to use this toy, unless you want to also use it as a paperweight.

For my first venture into the world of glass, I chose the Moonshine plug for two reasons: its exemplary reviews and its reasonable cost. Before trying it out, I warmed up the plug in very warm water, trying to get it close to body temperature. I knew that it might be difficult at first and I didn't want to have my muscles contract if they came in contact with a cold toy. Using silicone lube, I slowly and gently inserted the plug. It took a while and a little patience on my part because I didn't want to force it, or go too fast with such a rigid toy. When it was fully inserted, I couldn't believe how incredibly comfortable it felt. I've never felt completely comfortable with other plugs I've used in the past, but my body adapted to this plug almost instantly. The neck is also pleasantly wide and it feels nice when contracting my muscles around it. I could also definitely feel the weight of the plug, but I never had the feeling that it was going to fall out. It has quickly become my favorite.
