Moon Shine is a glass butt plug made by SSA Glass intended for anal use. While it could be used vaginally, its main use is anal. This plug has a number of uses including being used during masturbation, manual sex or masturbation, intercourse and oral sex. There is nothing about this plug that makes it gender specific and so all uses mentioned will work for both males and females alike.

In addition to these uses, the Moon Shine plug can also be used for semi-long-term ware. Because it's made of glass, I wouldn't recommend wearing this plug for going outside the house as I'm not sure if this may cause bruising. I have worn this plug around the house though and I would say it's comfortable for 30 minutes to an hour. Walking around is comfortable and stimulating from the movement of the butt plug inside of you. Sitting down is ok as well and while the base can be felt a little bit, it is not uncomfortable. Going in tandem with being used for long-term ware, is using this butt plug for warm up either to anal sex or a larger toy and it's large diameter neck makes it good for this as well.

Glass toys are great because they hold temperature very well. You can either heat the toy up in some warm water or cool it down in a fridge to provide different feelings. Unlike silicone, glass holds its temperature for much longer and can take a good 5 - 10 minutes to get back to your body's temperature.

One final use for this toy that I am learning a lot of my toys with longer necks are good at is for strengthening your kegels because as you squeeze and release them; the toy moves in and out some causing stimulation and the squeezing around the toy feels good as well.

Because this toy is made of glass, be sure that this toy is not too large for you since unlike other materials it has no give to it.

Moon Shine is made of Pyrex glass which is more resistant to breaking than regular glass. The glass has no smell or taste and will not hold onto smells after being cleaned with soap and water. Glass is extremely rigid and has no give to it at all. The glass on this toy is exceptionally smooth with no seems or rough spots at all. This smoothness makes insertion easier and helps a little bit of lubricant to go a long way.

One disappointing thing about this plug, at least the version I got is that the paint inside of is not nearly as pretty as it looks in the pictures on Eden. There are some little bits of paint inside that almost look like what you see inside a diamond with the black flakes. It's not that big a deal considering it's going inside of you and the actual surface is completely smooth but compared to my other glass toy from SSA glass this one wasn't nearly as pretty.

The moon plug looks incredibly small in person. It may look big to an anal beginner but anyone else will probably consider it small. Its small size actually works quite well though and there are no sharp curves on this plug which is nice. While this toy will require warm up for most users, it is definitely a good size for most users except for true beginners. Listed below are the measurements I pulled from the plug.

Eden has the full length listed at 3.75" while I only measured it at 3.25" which may be part of the reason I was surprised at how small it is. As you can see, the neck diameter is larger than the head diameter and significantly larger than the neck diameter which makes the chances of this toy accidentally slipping in slim to none.

Overall I really like this plug. It's a little bit hard getting in because of it's diameter and it does take a few minutes to get adjusted to it but after that it feels really good. I entitled this review "Deceptively Good" because at first it looks so small that you don't think it could do anything. Much to my surprise this actually felt really good rubbing against my prostate. I thought it would be too short to reach it because I have longer toys that don't seem to reach it. Maybe it's the fact this plug is thicker or that it's made of glass that makes it work. Whatever the case it feels good. The neck is thick enough to give a nice stretch and feels good to squeeze around. Unlike my Tristan plug, I never have to worry about this toy coming out thanks to a slightly larger head and slightly smaller neck. While you can't actually see into your butt because of the paint in the plug, you still get the gaping effect that looks pretty nice.

While Pyrex glass is stronger and less susceptible to breaking than regular glass, you should still take greater care not to drop any glass toy. Keeping it in the included pouch is a good idea when not in use. When traveling, I would recommend either a different pouch with more padding or because the included pouch is big enough you can actually wrap it around the toy several times which provides additional padding. Should a crack appear on the toy you should no longer continue using it.

Glass is extremely easy to clean. A little bit of soap and water is all that is necessary in most cases. If you plan to share this toy with someone else though sterilizing is required. This can be accomplished by either soaking it in a 10% bleach solution or boiling in hot water. I would recommend heating the toy up with the water so that the temperature doesn't change too quickly as this could result in a crack possibly. While a condom could also be used for sharing, I don't see it working as well due to the shape of the plug and you then loose the incredibly smooth surface of the glass.

Unlike the Pink passion wand, which I recently reviewed, the moon shine plug came wrapped inside a black pouch with a plastic slip wrapped around it. I'm wondering if they chose black to make it a little less feminine. Removing it from the plastic slip you can clearly see the black pouch with draw strings at the end. Looking at the inside of the bag, it still has the same pink satin lining which still gives it a little bit of a feminine touch. Overall a decent pouch for everyday storage. I was a little disappointed at first that the pouch was so big. Compared to the only other glass butt plug I have the pouch is much bigger. Here you can see just how much larger the pouch is than the plug itself. After thinking about it though, this extra material can be wrapped around the toy which helps protect it more so while not as nice as a more matched size pouch it still serves a purpose. One other note about the material of the pouch is that it has a tendency to pick up hair and within a few hours of having it, it already has a good amount of my cats hair on it.

This butt plug did not come with any sort of directions or materials other than the pouch and the toy itself.

I originally got this butt plug to serve as a replacement for another glass butt plug that I had that while nice had a very sharp drop off from the head to the neck which was uncomfortable upon insertion. When I first got the Moon Shine I was a bit disappointed. It was a little shorter than I had hoped and I was afraid it may be a little too short to reach my prostate as I have toys longer than this one that don't seem to reach it. I had just finished reviewing another toy by SSA Glass the Pink passion wand and compared to it the quality on this toy seemed a little inferior at first. It's not like there was a rough spot or anything like that but it just wasn't as pretty to me as the Pink passion wand. If you look to the left of center in this picture you can see there are little specs inside the glass. Presumably from the paint that is used at the top of the plug. I think each one of these plugs is going to be unique and the picture on Eden looks pretty nice but the one I got just wasn't as pretty. The neck of the toy also looks maybe just a little off center making me think maybe these are hand done and not from a mold.

So with this initial let down I got out both my old and new plug and decided to try them both out. I tried the new one first and initial insertion after a little warm up with my finger wasn't too hard thanks to it being made of glass. I did get a bit of a pain as it was going in and then even after it was in it took a few minutes for my muscles to relax. Subsequent insertions during the same session were much easier. I tried the other plug and was surprised that there was no pain with insertion. I'm guessing this is because I was already warmed up from the other plug which is actually larger even though it's shorter. This was good to know since I had pretty given up on the other because of the pain on it so I may use it a little more. I did still notice that the moon shine plug was still more comfortable though while inserted. In subsequent uses I've noticed that after being inserted for a long time. The plug actually feels pretty warm when taken out. I guess because the rectum is so warm.
