Fur and Leather; Together Forever.

I love these restraints. I found them to be versatile, well fitting and comfortable. If you don't need to feel 100% restrained with locks and aren't looking to break the bank, I highly suggest these cuffs. If you are regularly extra hard on your restraints, I would suggest investing in a heavier set.

Use

This is a set of leather fur-lined wrist restraints made by Spartacus, best suited for bondage and restraint play. I would put these restraints at an intermediate level-- that's not to say that they can't be enjoyed by beginners or more advanced users, but I'll get back to that in a bit.

This set only comes with the two cuffs, so you'll need to use your own linking system. I suggest a carabiner or some of those double snap hooks snaphooks to act as a link between your cuffs. These are also fantastic to use with a spreader bar, hogtie set or under the bed restraint system, as they are compatible with most bondage equipment, though I would strongly suggest against using these for any type of suspension.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

This is a set of black leather wrist restraints lined with faux purple fur. Each cuff measures a total of 11.25" from buckle to tip. The actual cuff part is just under 9" in length and 2" in width. Each cuff has a single 1" D-ring which is secured on, along with the strap, by ten metal rivets (six on one side, eight on the other). Each buckle is about 1" and does not lock, and there are eight holes to customize your size. The purple fur matches the picture and is secured onto the leather with a single round of stitches-- i.e. it is not double-stitched on. The fur does not shed and is very comfortable.
The leather is soft and malleable, though it is thin. I expected that the leather would not be extremely thick, considering that these are on the lower end of Spartacus' leather cuff price-point. They are still very high quality.
The box says that these restraints will fit a 4" to 7.5" wrist. That seems pretty accurate. They fit my 5.5" wrists on fourth from the top hole, and even my 7.5" ankles on the second to last hole. If you have them on the very last hole and put much pressure on them the leather starts to stretch, which makes me nervous that they could tear. If your wrists are larger than 7.5", I would highly suggest another set of larger restraints.
I feel that these restraints are best suited for females, or males with slender wrists. As I said, the leather is thin but sturdy, and I don't expect to be having to replace these any time soon. They are extremely comfortable, light-weight and have no rough edges or anything that might otherwise cause discomfort.

Performance

So far these restraints are fantastic. They are so comfortable and don't put any strain on my joints or leave welts like my metal hand cuffs did. Despite the thin leather they haven't seemed to have stretched too much and there has been no tearing or dyes left on my skin from either the leather or the fur. These cuffs work with all of my accessories and in every bondage situation I can think of. The are easy to get on and off and I can wear them for hours. I have no issue wearing them as jewelry because they are not as garish as some cuffs and don't have any extra O-rings that might give them away as strictly bondage gear. I can use these as ankle restraints, and have even buckled them together to make a very cute and extremely comfortable collar! I love using them this way because my neck is so slender that I haven't been able to find a well-fitting collar for myself, especially not one with two sets of D-rings.

Care and Maintenance

Leather is relatively easy to care for, and restraints don't tend to get too much gunk on them. They can be cleaned with leather cleaner or wiped down with a damp cloth and then dried. Always make sure they are completely dry before you store them, as leather can mold and metal can rust. If the fur starts to get funky, I would suggest a damp cloth with some gentle detergent maybe. I do wish these would have come with some sort of care instructions. Share these at your own risk, as leather cannot be sterilized.
    • Easy to store

Packaging

These came in a plastic clam-shell. There was a woman in a shelf bra on the front wearing the cuffs, and a little information on the back. Not terribly discreet, but not the raunchiest thing ever. The clam-shell can easily be used to store your cuffs and keep them dry and clean.

Personal comments

I said that these restraints are best suited for the intermediate user and I feel that needs some explanation. For someone brand new to bondage, these might still be a little pricey and a little intimidating. They are also not as easy to put on and take off as Velcro cuffs. For the more advanced user, they might not feel heavy enough. They don't have that thick leather and clanging metal sound that comes with the more costly cuffs. On top of that, they don't lock, so without other accessories the restrained party can release themselves at any time. I'm also not too sure how they'll hold up to years of heavy play (I'll get back to you on that one). If you know that you or your partner needs to feel fully restrained, and will be extremely rough on your restraints, I would suggest a heavier cuff.
Follow-up commentary
I still absolutely love these cuffs! They have held up amazingly well, which is especially impressive considering they are one of the most used items in our play. I use them for a collar, wrist and ankle restraints. No tears, no fraying, no rusting. I can’t recommend these cuffs enough, unless of course you need something for suspension...otherwise, get these cuffs, they’re great.
