Deluxe door jam cuffs - wrist and ankle cuffs discontinued by Sportsheets - review by ~LaUr3n~

The Deluxe Door Jam Cuffs are an easy to use restraint system that requires no assembly when it arrives. You simply find a door to use it on and slip the cuffs and door straps over and under the door. The cuffs are comfortable, have Velcro closures that don't leave marks, and are adjustable in length so they accommodate any height. They are not specifically designed for ankles and wrists separately, but instead are all the same. They should fit a variety of sizes, but the bigger your ankles or wrists are, the easier it is to get out of the Velcro. Don't get me wrong, it is sturdy. You will probably pull it out from under or over the door before you break the Velcro seal. Unfortunately, this set isn't very versatile since the cuffs don't detach from the door straps to then be able to attach to each other. The set is made very well though, and as long and you can find something to lock these under, they are very easy to use and require next to no time at all to put together. Since these are fairly easy to break from of, either the cuff or the door, they are meant for lighter bdsm play. This won't provide heavy restraint. It's a neat product though, one you should own if you are looking for a little variety in your sex play without going too hardcore. It's a lot of fun and stores away nicely

This set is made of a few different materials. The cuffs are very soft on the inside and have faux fur that makes it possible for these cuffs to not leave marks. The straps are made of nylon and neoprene, while the door jams and end caps are made of some sort of plastic blend. The buckles are plastic and the D rings are metal. With my past few SportSheets bondage products there has been a strong chemical and synthetic like odor, but not with these. All of the materials feel very sturdy and well made. I wish the door jams were made of a firmer plastic, however. I don't think they would slip under as many door if the material has less ability to flex.

The door jams are tubes with removable end caps. They are 4 1/2" long and have the cuff strap attached to them by threading the tube through the end loop of the strap. The end caps keep the strap on the tube, but barely. Either the end caps should be larger, or the loop should have a tighter fit. The tubes are about 3/4" in diameter at the caps. This means that if you have a space under your door that is any larger than 5/8", these will probably slip through at some point, especially if you have carpet which provides cushion.

The strap is 1" wide and twists easily if needed for wiggling wrists and ankles. With the help of the adjustment buckle, this part of the Door Jam Cuff can be anywhere from 6-12" long. Attached behind the buckle is a D ring which holds the cuff in place. It would have been nicer if they used spring loaded ones so the cuffs could be detached and reattached to each other, but I guess this way, it makes you buy another one of their products... I bet there could be some modifications made to this, however.

The cuffs are designed much like many cuffs from SportSheets. They have a faux fur piece about 9 1/2" in length and 2" wide. At one end is 5" worth of Velcro. This can make the insider circumference about 12". This doesn't mean it would work well this way, though. The more Velcro you have making contact with each other, the better these will be. Realistically, it is best if your ankles and wrists are smaller than 10" around. I think these will fit most people, but maybe not all plus sizes.

The first time we used these, it was a surprise for my boyfriend who expressed he wanted to be tied up again. I didn't want to use our old equipment, and saw that these were on sale. It was the perfect opportunity to use my birthday gift card! This meant I was putting them up solo. It's a bit awkward to have to do it by yourself. The cuffs are heaviest on the opposite end of the jam, so they can fall down when you are trying to pull the door shut. It took me a few tries to get all four secure. This is when I realized that the doors in our apartment (excluding the front metal door) are a bit too high for these to be really effective. I chose to use our bathroom door since the floor is tiled on one side. This gripped the jam better than the carpet.

Once ready, I had him wear a blind fold and slowly backed him against the door. I strapped him wrists first which is something we have done before. He was surprised when I then bent down to secure his ankles too. It was easy to put the Velcro around his wrists and ankles (as a male, he had plenty of room too). It was also easy to pull the nylon straps and raise his wrists to an appropriate height. It wasn't so easy to do the same with his ankles. Since he was blindfolded, it was sort of clumsy. I had to direct him since his weight prevented me from being able to adjust them without first moving his feet back.

Since there is a wall directly across from the bathroom door, I chose to do the doggie standing position. The aim of tying him down was so that I had the majority of control, but I found that the straps could not be adjusted short enough to really keep him out of my reach in the hall way. This gave me the idea that it would awesome if this kit also came with a lap belt that went around the door. Are you listening SportSheets?! I still had a lot of fun bumping and grinding against him while he couldn't use his hands to touch me. You can tease and torture as much as you want, unless they escape. My partner totally could if he wanted to, but chose not to. If you want a set that really requires your partner to release you, this isn't it. You can move your hands together and release yourself.

We did find a more secure location for the straps, though. My partner then used my toy trunk, which is actually an ancient travel trunk from the 30's or 40's. The damn thing weighs a ton. I nearly throw out my back every time I lift the top of it open. It was the perfect place to secure two of the cuffs, but we were unable to find another area that would accommodate all four cuffs. Perhaps I should have gotten the set that only has two straps...we never had an issue with the wrists coming free from over the door.

Unfortunately, not all the pieces of these cuffs come apart. Because I don't know exactly what metal these have, it's probably best to spot clean them. You probably won't need any heavy duty cleaning anyways. Storing is easy. Just place them back in the box of throw in a drawer.

The package is simple and the same as what you would expect from most SportSheet products. It comes in a snap to close plastic box with a paper insert in it. The paper insert has a picture of a couple using the product on the front, and a little information about the product on the back with brief instructions. The insert can be turned inside out to make the package more discreet. It works well for storage and organization if you have a lot of these products like I do.

I feel like I have to give this set 3 stars since the ankles don't stay put under almost all of our doors. If I had just gotten the wrist cuff set, I'd probably be giving this a 4, maybe even five. just measure your door beforehand.
