Sometimes the search for the perfect toy can take you on a never-ending quest. Other times you get lucky and it might take just one or two attempts. Well having already tried a Doc Johnson dildo and more recently a (very nice) Tantus Silk Medium, third time proved to be a charm with the Slim Jim. Sure, it's slim — the name kind of gives that away — but that's what we wanted in a toy that's going to mostly be used for pegging. The diameter/circumference make this ideal for those new to anal play while the firmness and upward curve will give even the seasoned backdoor players a run for their money. As if that weren't good enough, it also does the trick when hitting the G Spot, although some people might want something with a little more girth for vaginal use.

The Slim Jim can be used manually and it definitely works well whether on your own or with a partner. We've mostly used ours in a harness though, and any 'o' ring type that will take a 1 1/4" dildo will work. Having said that, much of our use has been with the Rodeoh Panty Harness which has a slightly bigger opening but still works well with the Slim Jim thanks to its wide base.

The Slim Jim (or Jimmy as we've come to name ours) is 100% Silicone, and very nice it is too. Sometimes silicone toys can be a little too flexible but not Jimmy. This is probably the closest we've come to what feels like being fucked by a real cock, and while it wouldn't fool you into thinking you're handling the real thing, it's firm with a little squeezability to it. We chose the silver version of the dildo and were surprised at how realistic it is despite the color. There are a number of little ridges and 'veins' on the top that were just enough to make it feel interesting rather than annoying and the ridged head is the perfect size to add a little something without making penetration uncomfortable.

We've seen other reviews that led us to expect a slight rubber smell to this but haven't found that to be the case here. If anything there was a very slightly sweet, almost candy smell to it but we gave it a quick rinse in boiling water and that quickly disappeared. Also, if you're one of those who have read the same 'rubbery smell' reviews, rest assured that there's definitely no rubbery stickiness to this dildo. While it may not have the instantly slippery feel that the Silk Medium does, it's still smooth to the touch.

The silver version of the dildo has an almost marble-like swirl to it. It's actually pleasing to look at, and the fact that it doesn't have the same swirling pattern as the one shown on the EF page means that each one is going to be slightly different, which we feel is a plus.

We love everything about this dildo, from the width/girth to the length and even the color. We chose the silver to complement our black/gray Rodeo harness (more on that in a later review) and it actually looks really nice — well, as 'nice' as a fake cock sticking out of the front of a tight pair of pants can look!

If you've read our
review of the Tantus Bend Over Intermediate Kit you'll know that we were very impressed with their Silk Medium but wished for a little more firmness. We definitely got that with the Slim Jim. There's just the right amount of give so as to keep things comfortable and to make it easy to slip into those tight little places where you want it to go ;)

When the dildo arrived, hubby and I both thought that the curve might be a little too pronounced but I'm glad to say we were both wrong. I actually think the curve is something that helps to make the Slim Jim stand out.

Size-wise, the Jim might not look as though it has much to offer, but believe me it does! EF lists this as 6" long with a 5 1/2" insertable length. I'd say that's about right since the last half an inch is where the flared part of the dildo attaches to the (fairly substantial) base. The base itself is about 3/4" thick so is pretty substantial.

As I've already mentioned, we bought this toy primarily for anal/pegging play and it does the job beautifully. The fact that it's firm with just a little give means that it will go right where you want it to and the size of the base lets you use it either by hand or with an 'o' ring harness. We've tried it with both the Bend Over harness and the Rodeoh and it worked great with both of those. There's something about the curve that makes you change the way you work your hips (or at least it did for me). Rather than feeling as though I was just thrusting something in and out of my hubby's ass, I actually felt more like I was making love to him. Changing the way you thrust obviously means that the dildo's curve is working its magic in different ways, and although the base didn't really do much for me against my clit, I found using this in a harness to be an incredible turn-on. In fact I like using this so much that I've been the one suggesting my hubby gets fucked rather than him asking me for it (well, most of the time that is!)

Phthalate free and 100% Silicone, the Slim Jim is Hypoallergenic and body safe. That all makes this a great toy for anyone's collection. It also means that cleanup is a snap, since just antibacterial soap and water will do the trick (so too would boiling it in water). Something that should be remembered though is to be careful if you've got long fingernails or have sharp objects around (hey, you never know) since it could be pretty easy to leave scratches in this dildo which would obviously make it easier for bacteria to gain a foothold.

As with any Silicone toy, it's recommended that you use water-based lubes with this. Luckily that's not a problem since there are more and more appropriate lubes around these days. It's common sense really but still should be kept in mind, especially if you're using this for anal since the chances would then be very high that you'd be using lube with it.

Also — and this appears to be the case with Silicone toys — this one's yet another lint magnet. We recommend storing it in a satin bag since experience has shown us that picking hairs off your 'cock' whilst hovering over your partner can be a bit of a mood-killer.

It's often the case that looks can be deceiving and that was definitely the case here. The Slim Jim arrived in nothing more than a see-through plastic bag with a cardboard holder at the top. It made me think more of something that you'd find in the dollar section of Wal-Mart at Halloween, and I've got to say that if I'd never heard of the Slim Jim and just saw the bag hanging up in a sex toy shop I'd have almost certainly passed it by. I'm really not sure what kind of packaging I'd like to see here, but when you consider that that has quickly become the go-to toy of choice for hubby and I when we're pegging, nicer packaging wouldn't have gone amiss. There are always pro's and cons though, so better packaging would probably lead to a higher price for the toy.

The cheap & minimal see-through packaging also means that you're going to want somewhere to store this, so that might be something to bear in mind.

Despite that fact that we're both bi and both have same-sex experience; neither of us have ever been huge on toys. The Slim Jim is something that could well change that though since it's so easy to use and gets to the parts that other things can't always reach. And even though we picked this up mostly for me to use on hubby, it's VERY nice having a toy that we can share when the mood arises (properly cleaned between uses of course!)

Our 10-year quest for the perfect pegging dildo has now pretty much come to an end thanks to Jimmy. I've gone from wanting to do it to please my hubby to wanting to do it because this is the cock I'd choose if I could have a real one for the day. Hubby says that he can absolutely tell since I use it like it's mine (if only I could feel it like it's mine!)

Although we were happy with our last dildo, we wanted something that would work for Missionary position pegging and this works perfectly.
