Slim Jim - strap-on dildo by Happy Valley - review by SelectZen

-Packaging-

The “Slim Jim” from Happy Valley arrives in somewhat disappointing packaging. It has a small cardboard top and a see through plastic packet. At an initial glance it looks very much like a joke shop style toy because of the packaging. Upon closer inspection the packaging does contain some very useful information about cleaning the toy as well as not to use silicone lubricant with it. However the style of the packaging does cheapen and detract from the overall presentation of what is actually a very nice silicone dildo.

-Specifications-

The toy is available in three different colours beige, black and silver. The silver finish was the colour my partner and I opted for. As for the dimensions the toy does a good job of living up to its "Slim Jim" name. Out of the packaging it measures in at a very reasonable 6 Inches total length with about 5 ½ inches insertable. It has a circumference of just 4 ¾ inches (1 ¼ inch Diameter). This toy is obviously designed for people who like slimmer toys so if you love extremely girthy toys then this might not be for you. It is semi-realistic in shape with a bulbous head and a smooth shaft on the back whereas the front is gently ribbed without being too pronounced which is ideal for g-spot stimulation. There is a flared base at the end which is perfect for use with any standard O-ring harness (1 ½ inch diameter). The colouring on the dildo looks wonderful. It is silver mixed with a marble effect. Depending on how the light hits it, it can look very different. It is definitely one of favourite finishes/colours of all the toys we own.


-Material/Care-

Once out of the packaging the toy has a somewhat different feel then I expected. It has a very smooth finish that is almost shiny, compared to many “velvet” feel silicone toys it is incredibly smooth. It is made from 100% silicone. This means it is latex and phthalate free as well as being non-pours. As per the instructions on the packaging you can boil to sterilise. For everyday washing you should use warm water and a mild antibacterial soap or specialist toy cleaner. If you are feeling lazy you can even throw it in the top rack of a dishwasher. For long term storage I find a zip-seal sandwich bag works well in two ways. Firstly it will prevent the toy from accumulating dust and dirt. Secondly and more importantly it will keep the toy from reacting with any other toys or materials and seriously prolong the life of the toy. I have to say that as far as silicone toys go this one is pretty good for not attracting dust.

-Use-

As I mentioned this toy is designed for people who like slimmer, more petite toys. The fact that it is relatively slim, coupled with the smooth finish means you might not necessarily need lube if you are stimulated beforehand. However if you do find you need it or just want it then make sure it is an oil or water based lubricant you use. It has a certain degree of bend to it but is far firmer than other silicone toys we have of similar thickness (for example the tantus compact). The bend in it works well to stimulate the g-spot and the gentle ridges make for a very pleasurable experience without being too raised or uncomfortable. The base is flared making it ideal for harness use. The base is a little thicker than some (about a ½ inch thick) so it makes for a snug fit in a harness.

-Summary-
In summary I would have to say that there is nothing I can fault with this toy. While I found the packaging was a little bit basic or cheap looking, the toy itself more than made up for it. It has a wonderful shiny finish that isn’t half as bad as many silicone toys for attracting dust. It is (as the name suggests) designed with people who like slimmer toys in mind. That said it has a fair degree of firmness to it and my partner found it to be more than adequate to get the job done. If you are a beginner, are looking for a good warm up toy or just plain like the slimmer toys then this is a great little piece. The material is top quality and the finish is superb.

This toy still gets a lot of use. Despite it being comparatively slimmer than the majority of our toys. The design combines style and function perfectly. My partner actually liked the Slim Jim so much that she bought a second one in a flesh colour just to have as a back up.

As well as being a great toy it has also encouraged us to buy several happy valley toys and out of about 6, none have disappointed. If you like slimmer toys or area beginner then I can't recommend this highly enough.
