Cavalier - strap-on dildo discontinued by Fun Factory - review by namelesschaos

This toy is a beaded anal probe (although Fun Factory refers to it as a “Stub”, as they do all their dildos). You could try putting it in another orifice but I doubt it would work well, the design simply screams anal probe. It has a triangular suction cup base so you could use this attached to a hard, flat surface. The base is nice and wide, making it completely safe for anal use. This base also makes it harness compatible although I have no harness to test it with (I did however, test this with my liberator dildo mounts, see Performance section). The toys is relatively thin, flexible, its texture is pretty much for aesthetics only, and its design is unintimidating and whimsical making it good for beginners to anal penetration or those that prefer milder sensation.

This toy is made out of silicone, which is tasteless, odorless, free of phthalate and latex, non-porous, hypoallergenic, and easy to care for (see care and maintenance section for more info). The finish is smooth and produces an average amount of drag on the skin. The silicone is slightly squishy and the toy very flexible but not so flexible it cannot hold it shape, it will bounce back to its upright shape immediately after bending it. The texture is mainly aesthetic and can be barely, if at all felt, during use.

The toy has a total length of six and a half inches of which five and half inches are insertable. Its design is one of four gradually increasing teardrop shaped beads the first bead has a diameter of about .70”, the second about .90” the third about 1.10” and the last bulb about 1.30”. The toy has a triangular shaped suction cup base with each side being about three inches long. The base has the fun Factory logo imprinted on it. There is a seam running horizontal along the base’s sides but since it isn’t on the toy's insertable portion it doesn’t affect performance.



What makes the Cavalier unique is the way it achieves it texture and look. The toy starts with a tip, this tip curves down and expands forming a sheet that completely covers one side of the bead before it then curves around and covering the opposite side of the next bead, this then repeats for the next two beads. The result is that one side of each bead is completely smooth while the opposite side has an exposed cavity about 1mm deep. I’m going to start with the general design of this. As I said this is a beaded probe, this deigned combines many of the benefits of both anal beads (a lovely pop as you inset and remove them) and a dildo (the ability to easily thrust). The transitions from each bead are noticeable and pleasurable. However if your hoping that the texture you see in the pictures is going to add something, you’re likely to be disappointed. The texture is just for looks. If I am focusing on it and move slowly I can feel it like a very mild (as in I’m not even sure it is not just a placebo effect mild) rib as I move down the shaft. However, I can only feel the beads themselves once I get moving. Although this texturing doesn’t add much feeling it is very nice aesthetically. Secondly, the shaft as I mentioned above is flexible, this is a con if you want something that going to apply pressure to whatever (inset letter here)-spot you may have. Although the flexibility works well for the purposes, I use it for. If you want something beaded that is also firm enough to apply pressure, you might want to look at something like the beaded end of Fun Wand or the Nob essence Ergonomic one finger. Before I move on to the base I should point out that the toy has a noticeable tip at the top of the toy that others have found uncomfortable, although I personally did not have any problems with it.

Moving on to the base, overall I say that it base is one of its greatest features. Firstly, the triangle design fits comfortably in your (or your panthers) hands for manual thrusting. Second, on a flat hard surface the suction cup will hold on and won’t let go. This one makes the base on of my favorite features, when it comes to shower- time toys I only go for toys with a suction cup. The suction cup sticks firmly to the inside of the shower stall and allows me to move on and off the toy without any fear that the toy will come off. While the flexibility may be a con for applying pressure, the flexibility is a pro here as it allows the probe to comfortably contour to the position of my body in the shower. In addition, even if I intend to thrust the toy by hand and not use it suctioned to the wall I want a suction cup so I don’t have to put it the toy on the floor of the shower stall when I use my hand for something else. Here again the toy pass the suction cup is strong enough that I can suction it to the stall play with it, do my whole normal shower routine, dry off get changed and then come back to take the toy down.

Lastly, as I said above the toy could be used in harness, but I don’t have one to test them with. I do however have all three liberator dildo mounts (Pulse, BonBon and Wing). The triangle base fit well into the mounts holes but I don’t find this probe to work well in any of them, the toy is to flexible and the way a ride them doesn’t give a long enough of a stroke to really appreciate the bead action. Although if you do want to try this toy with one of them I find the BonBon provides the firmest base for this and thus works best. Suctioned to the shower stall remains my favorite way to use this.

Being made of silicone, this toy is easy to care for. To clean the toy, just use hot soap and water. For a more through sanitization, you can clean the toy with a 10% bleach solution (make sure the solution is completely cleaned off before use!), put it your dishwasher (top rack, no soap) or boil it. For the most through home sterilization, put it in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes. Make sure to sanitize or sterilize the toy if you’re going to be sharing the toy between partners or orifices.

Silicone can have a bonding reaction with silicone lubes so stick to water-based lubes with this toy. If you must use silicone, based lubes with this toy then do a test patch on the bottom of the toy to test for any reactions first.

Silicone does not have any special storage requirement but many do keep them in their own indivdual storage bags just to be on the safe side. Also, silicone does tend to be a dust/lint/hair magnet, so that is another reason you might what to put each of your toys in their own plastic bag.

The toy comes in Fun Factory’s typical fun and tasteful packaging. The outer box is cardboard with a beige, red and grey color scheme inside is a plastic clamshell. One side has a text blurb with info about Fun Factory and their dildos. The other has a generic dildo figure and some bullet points about Fun Factory dildo designs. The remaining two sides are both the same, the cardboard is cutout to create a window so you can see the toy inside the inner plastic clamshell. The plastic calm shell is easy to open. This packaging is poor for storage but since you do not have to destroy it to open it could theoretical be used for storage. The toy comes with a free pack of lube.

I am going to uses this section to compares this toy to another fun factory anal probe the Wanda. The two toys are similar in many ways are made out of pure silicone so safety and storage are the same. Both toys have roughly the same height and max/min diameters, as well as the same triangular suction cup base. Where they defer is the shaft deigns the, Cavalier as already stated has four gradated blubs in a straight line, while the Wanda has a segmented, S-shaped shaft, that slowly increases in diameter. Although each element of the Wanda is subtle the Wanda overall provides a more notable experience.

In terms of aesthetic, both dildos have a whimsical appearance however; Wanda is clearly based on a worm while the Cavalier is more abstract. The color choices are also different while the caviler is available in magenta and Black the Wanda comes in blue and green. This ultimately boils down to preferences.

To conclude go for the Cavalier if you want something milder, the Wanda if you want something more high-mild to low-middle range in it sensations. Lastly, I want to reiterate how much I like using both toys in the shower. In fact, these two are really the only toys I use in the shower, Caviler for mild sensation Wanda for a bit more mid-range sensations.
