From Me-OWW! to Purrrr...

My experience with the Purr was something of a sex toy Cinderella story. Our first evening together ended in pain, but the make-up sex was pretty fantastic. My advice? Start with something smoother, but bigger, before you take on this kitty cat.

extremely useful review
It isn't every day that I change my mind about a toy that caused me pain and much profanity, but the Purr by Tantus is special. Imagine her as the Cinderella of the toy box, upgraded from "Private Enemy No. 1" to "BBF 4EVA" overnight. Not quite that dramatic of a transformation, but still surprising nonetheless.

Our fairy tale begins the day I received the Tantus Purr for review. Having read glowing reviews of her by other respected reviewers, and having only recently been quite impressed by the performance of a ribbed glass toy, I took one look at Purr's shaft, adorned with rippling ribs one after another, and said to myself "Why not?"

The Purr comes in three pretty, pearlescent colors; I got the purple one. It's a bluish violet with a mix of iridescent colors that highlight its rippling body when hit by direct light. Despite being obviously a dildo, the Purr is still quite beautiful. Her silicone is also very smooth, very shiny and finished. There is less drag on her than on some other, more matte silicone toys. I couldn't resist running a hand down her body, and that's when I knew I was in trouble.

Purr is very ribbed. It's obvious from the photos, and even more obvious when you touch her. Each rib stands out, and they all work together during thrusting to continuously stimulate the vaginal entrance. The problem? I have a wimpy vagina. I have never enjoyed ribbed condoms, and only recently started to accept ribbed glass toys as something that could be enjoyable during thrusting. I was a fool to think that I was ready for Purr's claws.

To cut a long story short, the first time with Purr hurt quite a bit, even with generous amounts of lube slathered on. She pinched and she pulled, and my vagina was crying like a baby and demanding to go home. I put Purr away for some time, convinced that I could never love her. I even promised my boyfriend I would be sticking her in a harness soon so that he could try enjoying her, since I was obviously getting nothing out of my relationship with the Purr.

But then, on a separate occasion, my boyfriend, with the aid of a blindfold, some cuffs, and a phony European accent, tied me down and starting prepping me with a glass juicer. The juicer has a minimal role in this tale, as it didn't do much for me except its being an immense tease, but when I was hot and ready, he traded out the juicer for another toy. Something slightly squishier, longer, girthier...with ribs.

"Is that the Purr?" I asked, incredulously. It was.

I was disbelieving because it didn't hurt this time. It just felt really, really good. Now that I was sufficiently prepared, the ribs stroked instead of poked. I was also able to feel her slight curve rubbing up against my g-spot, which was incredibly stimulating, though not quite to the point of a g-spot orgasm.

I actually found quite a lot to like about the Purr the second time around. I liked her so much, in fact, that I ended up keeping her. If you'd like to know how she performs in a harness, you may have to wait a bit. I'm not quite done with her, myself, yet. Look forward to a follow-up!
Experience
Maybe this isn't true for everyone; maybe it's only true for those of us with wimpy vaginas. But from my experience with the Purr, I get the most out of her when I am adequately prepared (read: wet and ready) for her. Otherwise, she nips a bit.

Cleaning is simple, though care must be taken to clean the grooves between ripples. Purr can be washed with hot water and soap, boiled, tossed in the top rack of a dishwasher (no soap), or wiped down with a 10% bleach solution. Like all silicone toys, she is a bit of a dust and hair magnet. The simplest solution is to give her a good rinse-off before every use.

As an aside, the Purr does come with a bullet, which can be inserted into her base and which has included batteries. Unfortunately, the bullet that I received did not work. Whether it was the bullet was broken or the batteries drained is beyond my realm of knowledge. Overall, it was not a huge loss for me, as I do not care much for vibrating shafts anyway. I usually use a sturdy bullet vibe on my clit while thrusting with the Purr, and that works very well for me.
