Joyballs secret - vaginal balls discontinued by JoyDivision - review by Breas

The Joyballs Secret by JoyDivision are available in the colours red, blue, black, green, violet, and pink. I received the violet coloured balls. I had never used any vaginal exercising product before so I was excited to give the Joyballs a try.

The Joyballs arrived in a cardboard packaging. The front of the packaging has a cut out, which acts as a window to see the product. The front of the packaging states the company name, product name, and a couple product features. The back of the packaging states even more product features and lists a few benefits from using the product. Inside of the packaging there is a storage pouch, lubricant sample, and information pamphlet. The cardboard packaging is not ideal for storage and can be recycled.



The included storage pouch is a silver colour with a black drawstring. There is no text or photos on the bag though there is a small black tag that states the company name. Unless a person knows the company, they won’t know what is in the bag. It is 5 ¾ inches in length and just less than 4 inches wide. It’s excellent to use to store the balls in and/or to travel with.



The included lubricant sample is water-based. The ingredients as stated on the packet are as follows: Aqua, Glycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, and Sodium Methylparaben. With 2 out of the 4 ingredients (glycerin and sodium methylparaben) not being the safest, I recommend using a different water based lubricant with the balls since they are used internally.

The balls and black casing around the balls is made of silicone. The manual states that the material is hypoallergenic and clinically/dermatologist tested. The material has a 5 year guarantee. The silicone is smooth, firm, and with no texture. There are no seams on the balls but there is a seam that runs along the black parts around the balls. The seam cannot be felt when inserted.



The length of the balls, including the black silicone finger grip, is approximately 5 ¼ inches in length. The black piece that sits off the balls is the retrieval cord that you grab onto with your finger. The cord is flexible. The distance between the two balls is approximately ½ of an inch. Each ball has a circumference of approximately 1 ¼ inches. Below is a size comparison of the balls beside a 500mL bottle of water.





Kegel exercising has many benefits. Some of the benefits stated on the packaging include: greater pleasure during intercourse, therapeutic training during pregnancy, and prevention and supportive treatment for incontinence. I’m fairly young (25) and have not been pregnant. I wanted to try these to strengthen my muscles for sexual pleasure. I have not had any issues with incontinence but figured that using the Joyballs would further prevent this.

Like I had said, I had never used kegel balls before. Luckily, the manual explained how to use them properly. You can use a water-based lubricant to insert them or insert them dry, whichever way you feel most comfortable with. The balls are inserted like a tampon with the retrieval cord at the bottom. Unlike a tampon, the retrieval cord is inserted as well.

The manual states that the balls should be inserted for approximately 10 minutes at a time, 2 times a day. Once you’ve become comfortable with the ten minutes, the time can be increased. The manual also states that while they are inserted you can be walking around or standing still.

Each ball has a marble-like weighted ball inside of it. This causes a “trampoline effect”. The weights inside of the balls bounce around while you walk or move about. From what I understand, this makes your muscles work harder since the bouncing around makes your body believe that something is about to fall out- making you clench the muscles to hold it in.

When I had used them, I left the balls inserted for 20 minutes. I used them while doing a bit of house cleaning. I didn’t really feel them inside while I was standing still since the weights were not bouncing around. I tried to keep moving while they were inserted because the feeling of the weights moving around was quite pleasurable. The balls do not make noise when they are inside of you so they’d be fine to wear beneath clothing while out in public.

I’ve used them for a couple days now and haven’t really noticed any differences yet. The time it takes for the user to notice a difference will vary. Some women notice a difference immediately while others won’t notice a difference for 2 months or so. I plan on using them daily so I will follow up in my review in a few months to let you know how they’ve been working for me. I will say though that I love that feeling of the balls weights moving around while I walk! That alone will keep me motivated to use them!

The Joyballs can be cleaned with soap and water, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. They can be sterilized with rubbing alcohol or a bleach/water solution. The material does pick up lint and animal hair fairly easy so they should be cleaned both before and after you use them.

I've given the product a 5 out of 5 because I really enjoyed using them. I couldn't find any cons to the product. As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, this was my first time using kegel exercisers so I can't compare them to any other products right now. I'm glad these were my first because I was not left disappointed.
