Patchy Paul Patches Up Lonely Nights

This is a great toy for beginner G spotting. The head is shaped perfectly to help you find it, and the plush silicone is the perfect firmness for most (flexible yet firm) Silicone can be sanitized and is easy to clean and store, making Patchy Paul II an all around winner.

extremely useful review
Patchy Paul II is a second generation vibrator from Fun Factory. Now being that there is a 2 in his name, I was under the impression that a first Patchy Paul can be found. To my dismay, there is not. The closest you could get would be the Booster. Booster is a bit bigger than Patchy Paul, but there is also a smaller version for those who want something more on the discreet side: Little Paul.

A second generation vibe means that this toy is splash proof and has a dial based control on it, as opposed to the first generation vibes (called classicVIBES by FF) which have the traditional Fun Factory push button controls. I was a little confused when doing my research, though, because I can't find any classicVIBES (from searching both Eden and FF's site). I am assuming they got discontinued.

Now Paul is designed to be a G Spot vibrator, but since he is silicone he could be used for P Spot stimulation as well. Although he is pretty long, his base is not flared so I wouldn't recommend anal use with him unless you are experienced at it.

Maintenance/Care
Patchy Paul is made of Fun Factory's wonderful plush silicone. It is squishy to the touch, but firm enough to give you a good ride; and despite Paul's somewhat bumpy texture this silicone still feels smooth when run across the skin. Silicone is non porous and phthalate free, which means that it doesn't absorb other bacteria, odors, or dyes; and does not have potentially harmful substances in it that could cause health issues. Paul can be sanitized by dipping him in some boiling water, but be careful not to get the base wet. If you are going to sanitize this, I suggest just dipping him in up to the base (as close as possible without risking getting it wet) and holding him for a little while. This toy is only splash proof, not water proof. To me that means that it can handle some moisture while in use and for cleaning, but it should not be submersed or exposed to a lot of fluid at a time. Fun Factory also recommends leaving the cap off and letting the toy air out to dry when you are done using it, to help prevent moisture build up and corrosion.

Paul should not be used with Silicone based lubes, as they can break down the material and shorten his life span.

Size/Performance

Patchy Paul is a wonderful 8 inches long, which makes about 7 of him insertable. He has a smaller diameter, starting at about an inch at his head, and maxing out around 1 1/8 inches towards the base. His shaft is still smooth and tapered with ribs of varying sizes. The vibrations of this guy are quite strong, and are carried through the silicone well. He does have a nice, powerful motor that pushes those vibrations all the way to his head. I personally enjoy the use of Patchy Paul for clitoral stimulation. The head is shaped just right, so that it can fit on the clitoris for maximum stimulation. The shaft also feels great when rubbed on the vulva.

A dial base control operates this vibe; simply twist it and go! It doesn't matter what way you twist it, it will go on, get stronger, and then go off all with the twist. This can be good for some, and bad for others. I generally don't care too much for dial based controls, but this one wasn't too bad for me. In fact it is quite handy with the way that I hold Paul (since I mainly use him for clit stimulation). It is the battery cap that gets me.

If you are familiar with any of my videos, then you have probably noticed that I am battery cap challenged. I always have quite the time trying to get them off and on, especially when I am trying to do a video. This cap has a simple idea to it- just push the sides of the base and it pops off. Simple, right? Only if you push just the right spots. If not you are sitting there forever trying to get the damn thing off. Luckily Fun Factory always has wonderful instructions with their packaging, and I was able to figure out how to work this one easily, but I still have a hard time getting it off.

This takes 2 AA's that slide right into the shaft. Now as I mentioned above, this is splash proof, not water proof, so care should be taken when cleaning and changing batteries.
Experience
For its strength, Paul is actually pretty quiet. He would not be heard through covers, but if you had him out and about at full strength a soft buzz would be heard. The silicone muffles the sound well, however.

Paul also isn't really that discreet; he could be hidden well but it's pretty obvious what he is.

I thoroughly enjoy Patchy Paul II as a clitoral stimulator. The head is shaped perfectly and has strong enough vibrations to it that I can have a good old time. As far as G Spotting goes, I wasn't as impressed. I simply think this is because I like to have a wider area covered while playing (I.E. bulbous head on my 18). I really do think this is perfect for beginner G Spotters, because it is curved right to make it easy for you to find that sweet spot.

Paul works good with other toys, if you hold him right. I had him snuggled up on my clit while I thrusted with my beloved PHP and had amazing orgasms. The head covers a good area of the clitoris, while still allowing for pinpoint stimulation. I was even ready to go for a second round with him.

Great review! I like him, he's very cute.

Did you actually dip it in boiling water? It seems like that would ruin the motor.

    Great review. Thank you.

Thanks! @ Coralbell- I said to dip up to the base in water, so as not to get the motor wet. I have not done it with this toy, but I have done it with other vibrators. In fact I put my serenity in a pot of boiling water to give to a friend- that one is waterproof, but still has the motor in it and was fine.

I'm worried that the heat might melt or ruin something inside, not about the water. Glad to hear it didn't ruin your toys, but I'm still afraid to try it myself!
  • Contributor: cherryredhead88
No, the heat wouldn't do anything- the steam could cause some moisture but luckily it is splash proof! For the most part people sanitize when sharing or switching from vaginal to anal, and so forth, so you probably wouldn't have to worry!
  • Contributor: Coralbell
Yeah, I don't really need to sterilize my toys since I don't do the things you mentioned, but I've boiled dildos. I just use bleach for vibrators.

I was wondering about the dial control on this one. Thanks for the great review!
