I used to long for this toy. I am not exaggerating, either. I remember being a little girl and overhearing some of my older cousins talk about this toy, that was in a magazine. It was advertised like a personal massager - you know, for your back and neck and such? And then I heard one giggle and say to the other "who would use it for that?". I had no idea what they were talking about until I got quite a bit older, and it's taken me until now to get up the balls to actually buy one for myself. Not because I couldn't afford it, or didn't want one, or had no experience with toys. Mainly just because I did not want to ruin the image in my mind of what this beast was capable of, because I have heard about how amazing it is for so much of my life.

And holy crap, it is amazing, not even going to lie. But it's almost so amazing that it's too much. This thing is so strong, I'm surprised it's not gas powered. The vibrations in this are -exactly- what I have always loved; the deep, thrummy ones that leave you shaking to your very core, not those tiny little bumble-bee wing ones. And the Hitachi is exactly that type of deep, thrummy, core-shaking vibration. And that's just the LOW setting.

It's actually kind of deceptive, because when you look at this thing, it looks as far from an orgasm as you can really imagine. It's a plain, white color, with a blue shaft-thing that connects to a white "tennis ball" thing. On the handle (which is bulky and almost cumbersome), there's a switch (that looks like something you'd find on an old piece of hospital machinery), with only two settings - HIGH and LOW. It's made of a solid-grade medical plastic, with a white cord of about 6 feet that plugs into the wall. Probably a good thing, too, because this beast has so much power it would go through batteries in seconds. I haven't honestly bothered to lick the toy, so I couldn't tell you how it tasted, but it does have a very slight chemical smell right out of the box. After a month, it's gone.

On a few side notes, the Hitachi is NOT for insertion. If you want something to go INSIDE of you, buy one of the attachments. This thing is not water proof. It is not even really water resistant, and it is plugged directly into a power source, so I suggest using some common sense in how you clean it. Don't boil it or submerge it or wash it in the sink. Use hygienic wipes, wash cloths, and sprays or gels to keep it clean. Don't share it, either. If you need to, you can fit a condom on it, but I'm sure it's quite a hassle, but I digress.

High is actually a setting that I was scared to try. If the setting of "LOW" were the "HIGH", and there was a setting that was 2/3rds of the current "LOW" setting, I would be in heaven, and I would probably leave my SO for this baby. Needless to say, I didn't spend much time in "HIGH".

Fortunately for my nethers and I, I was already aroused from just the thought of this when the package arrived, that I was able to orgasm, and very well, at that. However I was left with this amazingly powerful orgasm, and still feeling like something was lacking (and it wasn't cuddles). I felt like I had been robbed of the majority of my session. Usually it will take me a bit of working up to that orgasm, and then I'll hang there for a while before I force myself over the edge. I am on the tougher side to make orgasm, so not all toys are able to even get me there. This actually skipped over all that good feeling in between, and went from mildly-aroused to arching my back against an orgasm in under two minutes.

I still keep my Hitachi close by, but for me, it's not my go-to toy when I want a solid orgasm, it's my "I need to cum RIGHT NOW" toy. After a long sex session where I didn't finish? Hitachi. Have two minutes to get off and just can't stand it anymore? Hitachi. Cant sleep, fuck yourself stupid? Hitachi! But for the languid, slow, drawn out orgasm that just leaves your toes curling? I'd skip Hitachi. Hitachi is the guy you meet in a bar and fuck in the dirty bathroom stall in back without getting his name, not the guy you marry and fuck monogamously for the rest of your life.

I do not use this toy on HIGH, it frightens me. And I stay away from this toy unless I really want to get off, NOW. That said, when I do want to just get off, Hitachi makes it easy to do. If I directly rub this across my clitoris, it is too sensitive, and my body clenches up away from it before immediately going numb. However, if I lay it over my pubic bone area, the vibrations are so deep that they resonate through my body, and feel kind of amazing. Not enough to get off, but still amazing. If I put it against my vagina opening, the vibrations resonate upwards and thrum across my clitoris and feel amazing. A round or two of "avoid the clitoris", and I'm done. While they are intense orgasms, they're not the kind you remember, they're just the kind that help you sleep.

I think maybe, I didn't get the purpose of Hitachi at first. At least, its purpose in my life. For me, Hitachi isn't what gets me off. Hitachi just gets me in the mood to WANT to get off. If I'm not at all horny, but I want to be in the mood; all I really need is about a minute with this little fella', and I'm good to go. Hitachi has actually helped me to discover my g-spot -- not through direct use, but because I was always looking for my g-spot without being aroused. A minute or two with this, and then going g-spot hunting; and I tackled it with relative ease. It's definitely a very specific toy, and I still agree with what I said in my first review about the speed and power, but I have at least found a use for this that doesn't leave me feeling like I'm missing something after an orgasm.
