The (in)famous Hitachi Magic Wand is a staple of any toy box, and for good reason. Durable, good for a variety of applications, and most of all POWERFUL, the Hitachi Magic Wand is a perfect toy for anyone of any gender to use alone, as a couple, or for group play.

The head is a soft plastic material which almost feels like vinyl. It's also textured, not so much to cause a noticeable sensation, but definitely enough to make it kind of a pain to clean. It also means that a condom should be used during any partner play (and yes - despite the broad head, a standard condom should fit). I've heard some complaints that the size of the head is far too large to hit the right places; I've personally not had this problem, but the long handle does make it somewhat unwieldy, and the weight can tire your arms during long solo sessions.

The toy is not cordless, which means you will need an outlet nearby (or at least a hefty extension cord). The cord is 6 feet long, which is of ample length. It does start to heat up which can become uncomfortable, especially after extended use, so it really shouldn't be used longer than a half hour. That being said, the vibrations are so intense you'll probably finish long before then.

The toy has two settings: low and high. The low itself is very intense, easily overpowering any toy I've ever used before or since. The high can only really be described as holding a jackhammer to your crotch. There are "dimmer switches" you can buy that give you a range of settings, but I've never used them. Low works perfectly well for me.

Speaking of jackhammers, this thing is *LOUD*, very loud. I could not recommend it for people living in dorms, roommate settings, thin-walled apartments, or any other situation where being discreet is a necessity.

As for longevity, I've run through a couple of Hitachi Magic Wands in the last four years, but they probably get an unusual amount of use. One complaint is that as the toy gets older the vibrations get less intense and the sound gets louder. This is to be expected of course, but is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I would say they're extremely durable.

As a trans man I honestly cannot recommend this enough to other FTMs, especially those who experience bottom dysphoria which sometimes makes masturbation difficult or uncomfortable. It requires little in the way of touching "down there" (if you're not into that) and gets me off very quickly. The vibrations are also intense enough to work over clothes.

I also use this in couples play with my cisgender boyfriend. The head of the Wand is large enough to be used by two people at once, and works just as well on the head of the penis as it does the clit.

The magic wand also works well in BDSM scenarios, especially for orgasm denial. Doms can use it to truly test their sub's limits with the powerful vibrations.

Unfortunately, after almost two years of use, I think my Hitachi Wand is on its last legs. It rattles a lot and the vibrations are not as intense as when I first bought it. That being said, it's still working as of writing this, and I still love it, but I think it's about time for a replacement.
