If you have hair you don't want, this is for you!!

Shaving can be drying and damaging to gentle skin. This product prevents, protects and heals while you shave. I love that it is truly unscented, but for those who want lots of scents to stimulate them, EOS offers many options. This is animal and chemical-free, so it is something everyone will find comforting and pleasing.
non-metal container
reasonable price
moisturizes and heals
would like a larger amount of product in a variety of sizes

extremely useful review

This is my first try with an EOS beauty treatment. I chose the unscented shave cream. Although I do not have sensitive skin, I prefer to use unscented cleansers and such and to just use a dab of my favorite perfume. The company recommends spreading it where you want to shave and dragging your preferred razor over the area. You get the picture.

The instructions printed on the container say that you can shave wet or dry, which is nice because you can do it on the run or after work in the bathroom stall or in your office (if it's private!). I do like using water to at least rinse off the razor as I shave. For this, a bowl of warm water or just a cloth will do the trick.

My first use was dry shaving. As suggested by the company, I did not rinse my legs or apply additional moisturizing lotion after I was done shaving. I was surprised to see that my legs felt smooth and soft and I did not have the urge to rinse my skin with water. There was no sticky residue left behind!! I was really happy with the results. In the past I have never shaved without water. This was a new experience, and a pleasant one, but shaving in the shower is still my preferred method.

For my second time shaving with the EOS, I shaved in the shower so I was able to test out shaving wet. This is great that way also. My legs were already wet when I applied the lotion. It loosened when mixed with water and I was able to use a bit less than when I shaved dry. As I shaved I rinsed the razor in the running water. When I was done, I rinsed my legs in the water. When I was towel dry, I felt my legs. They still felt soft, like when I shaved without water, and there was no residue. But, being the obsessive-compulsive type, I couldn't resist applying some skin moisturizing lotion. I felt no sting from my lotion, something that can happen after shaving.

I waited until the 3rd day after shaving to shave again. The shaving cream did leave my legs feeling soft and smooth and I am sure that it also acts as a skin moisturizer, but between uses I think applying lotions as you usually do is a good idea. It is nice to use a shave cream that does not dry out your skin, but I always apply lotion 2 or 3 times a day, and I continued with that schedule.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a different sort of shaving cream than I have used. Other creams or gels foam up when dispensed. This is dispensed as a lotion--about the viscosity of your average pump-dispensed skin lotion. It is thick enough to stay where you put it but thin enough so that a little bit spreads over a large area. It felt very smooth as I spread it around. Since it is not foamy, there is only a thin layer of this lotion needed. It would be easy to slather on too much product, but you should not. Why waste this when you need only a little bit to do the trick?

Taste / Aroma

I ordered the unscented variety and was very pleased that it actually is unscented. I did not taste this stuff, but I would guess it has a soapy taste--most shaving creams that I asked men about are of a soapy nature--remember, they use shaving products near their mouth, and an occasional taste is an unavoidable expectation. It is comforting to know that when a company makes a claim (unscented) that the claim is true. It gives me much more trust and I will try more EOS products in the future.

This is great stuff. I used it both on my legs and under my arms. Each leg needed 2 small "pumps" and it covered me from thigh to ankle. I used a double blade disposable razor and had no problems with cuts or scratches. I usually shave every other day, but with this I skipped an extra day. I really didn't notice "stubble" until the 3rd day.

I had no reaction to the ingredients, which include aloe vera. Aloe is a great thing in shaving cream because of its healing properties. Remember, you are dragging a very sharp item along your legs so damage is going to happen. It also has shea butter (moisturizes) and vitamins E and C (antioxidant properties). This is paraben and phthalates-free. No animals are used for testing and there are no animal byproducts in this shaving cream.

I LOVE, love, love that this is in a non-metal pump container! One of my biggest complaints about shaving cream canisters is that they often leave a circular rust mark where ever I let them sit. I have spent too much time and aggravation over these stains. No more worries. The soft plastic pump container is easy to use and waterproof. I can leave it in the shower or on top of the sink without worrying about rust. Finally, a manufacturer was thinking of me!

The container is 7 ounces so it is smaller than my usual brand (12 ounces). I like that no chemicals are added to make it foam up. I'm not an "all natural" type person, but we are being hit from all sides with chemicals so when I can avoid them I am happy. EOS makes it painless to avoid extra chemicals. My container is white with blue writing, but I noticed on EF that each scent has a different color palette.
    • Easy to use / dispense

    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
I still love this shaving cream. It is not foamy, and when you apply a small amount it lays down a slick coating on your skin. My (disposable) razor slides easily with no drag whatsoever. I do find that I now rarely scrape my skin and I have not bleed since using this Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream. It is on par price-wise with other quality hygiene items. Since I have very dry skin, I am going to continue using this for shaving.

I think this is going to make my wish list! I am glad that you reviewed the unscented version. I have sensitivities to scent, so it is nice to know that if I get this one, it really will be unscented!
