Magic Wand Original - massager by Vibratex - review by Happenstance

The Hitachi Magic wand is one of my favorite toys. It is meant for external stimulation and can be used all over the body. I like to use it to provide stimulation to not just my clitoris, but my entire vulva.

There are two settings: high and low. I find that the high setting is too intense to go at my clit with it immediately, so I use the low setting all over my body (shoulders, back, nipples) to relax, then move it down to my vulva, and very soon I'm ready for the high setting. The low vibrations feel excellent on their own, though, and I can definitely climax from them. It feels more like a pleasant thudding or jarring sensation than any other vibrator I've had.

The high setting is so very powerful. I don't own a toy more powerful than this one! It's absolutely wonderful. While the buzziness of it can numb the area after a little while, if I switch back to the low setting for a moment, it allows me to regain sensation and go for the high setting again.

Always use lube with the Hitachi, because if you don't it can be painful on the high setting. It has given me raw patches on my labia and even broken skin before, with extended use. I mean, I loved every moment of it, so don't get me wrong! I admit to being risky with it, because pain has helped me orgasm more times in one session. Just be aware that areas rubbed raw will hurt for days when you sit and decide if that's worth it to you. I would not recommend trying to break skin (that part was an accident), because there is always the possibility of infection. Just use plenty of lube and you will prevent any unpleasantness.

The Hitachi is GREAT with partners or in conjunction with other toys. The head is so large that you can shove it between you and a partner and both of you are likely to feel the vibrations really well. It doesn't really matter what anatomy either of you have. It's also good for giving a partner a shoulder or back rub (It was marketed as a massager, after all).

If you have a non-vibrating dildo of a softer material like silicone, it instantly becomes more exciting if you hold the hitachi at its base during insertion. I have found silicone transmits the vibrations well and is soft enough not to bruise or hurt me even if I let the Hitachi bounce and thud against the dildo. If it has a wide base for harness compatibility, I like to insert it a little ways in, then curve the base up to touch my clit and hold the Hitachi against it; then it vibrates my clitoris and my vagina at the same time! The Hitachi also has several of its own attachments that pop onto the head for more fun, if you are interested. I don't own any of these.

The head is a sort-of-squishy rubber with texture that reminds me of cracks in dry skin. The casing of the handle is plastic.

I measured the head at 2 1/4 inches in diameter, and 2 1/2 inches wide. It's sort of between spherical and cylindrical. There's a skinnier blue plastic neck that connects the head to the handle. The whole thing is just over a foot long. The cord is about 6ft 4inches.

The Magic Wand has to be plugged into an electrical outlet during use. There is one switch that rocks back or forth for the high and low settings and stays level in the "off" position. Unfortunately, that's pretty much it, since it doesn't have any vibrating patters or other intensity levels. Both settings are pretty loud and can be heard through a closed door.

You can use toy cleaner or sanitary wipes to clean the head, or warm water and soap if you are being careful. The toy is NOT waterproof, so don't get any water on the control switch and NEVER take it near water when it's plugged in. Remember, all the safety precautions necessary with any other electrical appliance that uses a power cord.

Since the motor can easily overheat, a good rule of thumb is don't use it for longer than thirty minutes at a time. If it starts to feel hot, switch to the lower setting or turn if off. Don't risk ruining your toy or starting an electrical fire.

It comes in a very simple cardboard box that isn't very structurally sound. It was obviously marketed as a massager, so it's very discreet. It just has pictures of the Magic Wand and a couple of white people from the 80's or something in sports bras and a topless guy massaging their shoulders, arms, back, neck, etc. All it says on it is, "Hitachi Magic Wand: Two-Speed Massager, Soft, Flexible Head: Relaxes Sore Muscles, Deep Soothing Vibrations, Helps Relieve Tension, Dual Speed Control."
