The Hitachi Magic Wand is my absolute favorite go-to vibrator. It makes a wonderful clitoral vibrator, but its large head also makes it fantastic for simultaneously stimulating the labia and surrounding area. It's most certainly a broad vibrator, not a pinpoint one, but you can still move, slide, and tilt it this way and that to find just the right spot. It has two settings, low and high, though even the low setting is stronger and deeper than most other vibrators I've seen. The strength of the vibrations makes it great for using as a muscle massager, as well.

The Hitachi plugs in, so there are no batteries to die on you, but the cord isn't incredibly long. I measured it at 76.5" from tip of the prongs of the plug to the base of the vibrator. This limits where you can use it in your house since you have to stay near an outlet, unless you can manage to use an extension cord and not trip over it.

This vibrator is fairly large at about 12.5" long, so it can be a bit cumbersome, especially if you are not used to handling larger toys. It has some heft to it, so you may get tired if you are holding it against gravity.

Despite its vaguely phallic size and shape, it is not insertable and not waterproof. Use it externally only.

The handle of the Hitachi is made of a smooth, hard plastic. The head is made of a softer plastic with a bit of a wrinkly texture. Attaching the head to the handle is a rubbery neck that has a little give to it, so the head is a little flexible on it.

As I said before, the Hitachi is somewhat heavy, so it can get tiring if you are holding it against gravity, such as if you are on your hands and knees. Its large size also makes it pretty hard to just forget it's there, but if being keenly aware of it being there doesn't bother you, then its size won't really be a problem.

This vibrator was designed as a massager, which, even though it is very large, also makes it discreet. It doesn't look anything like a sex toy. It looks like a massager, so no worries if company comes over and you forgot to put it away.

As for travel, you can't get much more travel friendly than this. Since its power comes only from an outlet, you don't have to worry about a button being hit inside your suitcase on your way through the airport.

The vibrations are located primarily in the head, but there will be some buzzing in your hands where you hold it. Along the handle is a switch labeled "H" and "L" (high and low). The switch stands out from the handle, so it is easy to find, but it takes a bit of pressure to move it, so you probably won't change the power setting accidentally unless you lay on it.

Along with the very powerful vibrations comes the noise. Hitachi really delivers on power, but it is incredibly loud. If you live with others whom you don't want to know about your activities, you will have to close your door and turn on some music.

Care and cleaning are pretty easy, but you have to make sure you don't get anything other than the head damp. I often just wipe it with a damp cloth and sometimes follow that with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. Don't put it in the dishwasher, boil, or submerge. This is not at all waterproof.

The Hitachi came in a long, rectangular box that gave no impression that it was anything other than an electric massager. However, the packaging was by no means pretty to look at like the boxes of higher end toys, so don't think about using it as a gift box.

I've had a long string of vibrators that all pretty much had one of two problems: the vibrator breaking altogether, or the batteries dying at a really bad time. After having both these problems so many times, I looked specifically for something that was respected and plugs in. I found both in the Hitachi Magic Wand. My toy collection is growing, but this is the one I use most often. Its strong vibrations make it almost a "sure thing" for me. It's strong enough that I've even been able to use it on the outside of my clothes. I love it so much I bought a second one just in case something happens to the first.
