Milk made smoothing hand buffer - hand cream by Cake Beauty - review by lil ladybug

Milk does my manicure good.

While it may not do much for your cuticles, it does exfoliate and moisturize very well. This would be a great gift to give to someone special or just a small treat for yourself, hands and feet.
Wonderful scent, Generous amount of product, Perfect following a mani/pedi, Great for gift-giving.
Wish it came packaged, Oil will make surfaces slippery, May stain clothing.

This awesome Cake product is intended for smoothing and exfoliating hands but can be used anywhere externally on your body. It contains sugar crystals that slough away rough skin to reveal fresh, youthful, moisturized hands, elbows or feet.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Milk Made is a mixture of coconut oil, vitamins, milk proteins, sugar and avocados. I know that sounds just as good as it feels and it really does. The first thing you notice is the wonderful scent of almonds but we'll get to that later. The purple-hued oil is seperate above the sugar crystals, so you will need to stir it with the provided spoon. I actually shook my bottle up and then waited for it to settle again just to insure that it would be mixed. Once you get a small spoonful, the crystals are what settle on it but be careful with the oil because it will drip. The sugar is not very gritty considering its purpose is to slough, but it feels gentle while doing its job.

Taste / Aroma

Like I said, I smelled almonds, but my husband thought it smelled like sugar cookies so I guess it really depends on your scent registry. We agree though that the smell is definitely sweet but not overwhelming, which is perfect for this type of product. I did taste a small amount of product and tasted mostly sugar crystals.

Once you get a small spoonful, the crystals are what settle on the spoon, but be careful with the oil because it will drip until you place it on your skin. The oil moisturizes really well and the sugar crystals dissolve into your skin as you massage it into your body. It takes a while for the oil to really sink in and you may have to massage for some time. I noticed that as you begin rinsing, water beads up on your skin and even though you may rinse well, it will stay on your skin until you towel dry. Clean up can be a little messy since the oil will leave the bottle and spoon slick until you clean them with a towel.

I love that it lasts for such a long time, even if you break the rules and don't follow up with the recommended Velveteen hand creme. I just used my regular hand cream and my skin feels so soft and smooth, so I can imagine the results following the directions and using the velveteen creme. I especially love using it right after I paint my nails and I have no problem with paint chipping because it's not a harsh product.

This product settles, especially the sugar mixture; it sinks to the bottom. I actually shook my bottle up and then waited for it to settle again just to ensure that it would be mixed. I've had this 4.9fl. oz bottle since last month and even though I used it every day and sometimes twice a day, I haven't made much of a dent in it. I love how long the scent lasts because it's subtle yet long-lasting.

I love the cute label on the bottle but I really wish this product also came in a cute little box. I was not pleased upon seeing my spoon broken inside the clear plastic bag upon arrival, and that's why I wish it was packaged. Not only that, but I think in case the seal was to break at least it wouldn't damage the rest of your items.

I also wish the top was rubberized or had some kind of grip instead of it being smooth, so that it would be easier to close when you have product on your hands. Cake brand products are made in Canada and I like how the English description on the front label,as well as the usual instructions, are also in French. I find this makes it very informative.

While it didn't do anything for my nails, it does make my skin feel so smooth and velvetly. It's a great spa item and I can't wait to get the other hand products from Cake to complete the spa experience.
