Here's the thing about the Hitachi Magic Wand: this vibrator will give you orgasms. When you break this down, dollar per orgasm, it is probably the cheapest item in the store. When I was first in the market for a vibrator, I started out with a very small, cheap and weak vibe and couldn't get off with it. Skip the intermediates, go for Hitachi. If you have never had an orgasm using a vibrator, this is about your only guarantee. This will do it for you.

No doubt, this vibrator is intense. Some people can get off on a weaker vibe and it might be more economical to start there if you only need a small amount of stimulation. The Hitachi Magic Wand is a problem solver for those to whom it doesn't come easy. I never had a solo orgasm before the Magic Wand, and it remains my go to after a few years of avid use. This toy is hard to break (I'm pretty hard on mine and it shows no sign of slowing down). It is also great for real massage!

This toy is strong enough to use outside of clothes or through a layer of blankets in some cases. It is a great, powerful vibrator, and for solo use, the draw backs of the wires are outweighed by the benefit of never having to buy batteries.

Drawbacks: This toy isn't quiet. Muffled by blankets and a door, it might be mistaken for cellphone level of sound, but use your thick blankets. With a door alone, the sound is significant, electric toothbrush level at least. That said, I used this toy frequently in a dorm type situation, and with some thick blankets, maybe a little music playing (or better, a fan on) the sound is only noticable if you listen carefully. If you are genuinely trying to pretend you don't own a vibrator at all (parent's house), this is not going to cut it, but if you just want to be able to muffle the sound so it won't bother anyone (dorm) this is not a big issue, and it is well worth it.

The cord has been mentioned by some as a drawback, but do keep in mind that no battery powered vibe comes close to the power of the Hitachi! I have tried some of the popular substitutes, and while some of them approach the Hitachi on low mode, none of them can even approach the higher level on the Hitachi. That said, if you do not have a good outlet, the cord can be a problem, as can the very long handle. For solo use, I think these problems are very, very small. I have never become wrapped up in the cord and I've always had outlets by my bed. No issue. In addition, the long handle actually provides a nice amount of leverage and manipulation for solo use. If you want to lie on your stomach for partnered use, the cord and handle can be a bit more tricky (still doable, although I recommend turning the Hitachi perpendicular to your body).

All in all, I think everyone should experience this vibrator, especially if you have trouble orgasming with a small amount of vibration. The Hitachi defines my solo sex-life, and it has become increasingly incorporated into my partner sex-life as well. This toy is a never fail. Before Hitachi I could only orgasm through partner sex, but this vibrator has really changed my life and helped me explore my body like no other.
