Dona rose petals - sensual kit discontinued by System JO - review by Feisty

System JO has produced a bath & body product line named Dona that includes all sorts of things from these rose petals to body butter to linen spray. I have purchased other items from the Dona line that I have really enjoyed, however these rose petals were a bit of a disappointment. These rose petals come in 6 different colors (Coral, Pink/White, White, Red, Pink, Black.) I purchased the RED rose petals and PINK/WHITE rose petals, and this review will reflect on those two colors.



The rose petals come in a plastic cylindrical container, which all together weighs .35oz. One petal is about 2" by 2" wide. On the front of the label it says "an aphrodisiac infused ritual." The rose petals are unscented so I think they are lacking the "aphrodisiac infused" bit, but you can always spray them with Dona's Linen Spray to get that effect if you want.

On the back of the label it says "Sprinkle rose petals in the bedroom or create a playful trail to romance." I think there needs to be an emphasis on the OR in that sentence because you cannot do both with only one tube of petals. I counted each tube of petals and they each had 72 petals, but I had to peel some petals apart because they were stuck together so maybe I missed a few. I have read other reviews where people had more petals so perhaps the numbers of petals vary from tube to tube. I have seen other packages of rose petals that typically have a count such as "100 rose petals," but the number of petals is lacking on the label. I have included a photo of the 72 RED rose petals scattered on my queen sized bed, which I thought was enough, but you would need a 2nd tube of petals if you wanted to create a trail to the bed. They are a bit pricey for the amount of petals you are getting, but they do last a long time.


What is nice about these petals is that they are made of fabric, which makes them soft and durable in comparison to paper petals or real petals. They do fray though, as see in my photos, so you might be left with a few threads on your bed. I tested both colors in the water and the colors do not bleed and the petals do float, so they can be used for a romantic soak in the tub.


I love the colors of the pink/white petals. They look like white petals that have pink tips. The red rose petals are a very bright red that looks very artificial. I was hoping they would be a darker red like your typical red rose. Although both colored petals are cut out in the same shape, the pink/white petals are almost flat and lack shape/form. The red rose petals are more curved and have texture throughout the petal that resemble the veins of a real petal.

I feel neutral about these petals. They are nice to help set a romantic mood in the bedroom or bathroom. But they do fray and do not look very realistic. I would use them again and buy more. My sister is getting married and I actually bought a tube of petals to scatter in her honeymoon suite as a nice surprise for her and new hubby. I would recommend them to others but please note that these are NOT your top of the line fake petals, and consider how many tubes of petals you will need.

I still like these rose petals. Although they are a bit cheap looking, they are really great in setting the mood for a romantic evening. I have continued to purchase these rose petals in the variety of colors for myself, and have added them to wedding gift baskets.
