Pleasure garden- I smell FABULOUS!

Despite how obnoxious a leaky bottle of massage oil can be, I think we'll be repeat buyers of this product. It just smells so wonderful (and we want to try out the other scents), and it moisturizes so nicely, leaving skin lightly perfumed and silky soft. It's so versatile that you really can't go wrong!

Use

Kama Sutra Sensual Massage Oil is - as the name would imply - a massage oil. It works wonderfully, whether for romantically sensuous massage, some sexy foreplay, or even just to relax tight and achy muscles. This beautifully versatile product can also be used as a light moisturizer (that leaves the skin perfumed) or as a bath oil that will lull you into a sweetly floral-scented bliss as you soak.

With just a small puddle in your palm, you’ll have your hands gliding over your intended recipient’s body, working out the knots and soothing the muscles like a pro! The oil itself moisturizes wonderfully, leaving whatever lovely scent you’ve chosen long after the massage has ended.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a somewhat thin and watery oil, which allows it to spread easily over the recipient’s body, but it also means that it’s incredibly runny. For back massages, it’s easiest to simply dribble a bit of oil along the curve of their spine, since that keeps the oil contained rather well. For other body parts (feet, legs, arms, hands, etc.), it’s best to pour a bit into your hand before gently (and carefully) transferring it to the skin’s surface. I don’t think I’d suggest using this massage oil on someone’s face because- being an oil- it may cause break-outs.

Once applied to the skin, it spreads-out easily, creating a silky layer that allows your hands (or massage tools) to glide without dragging in the least. On the plus side, the fact that it’s a thinner oil means that it absorbs easily into the skin, but can also mean that reapplication may be necessary.

The ingredients (and purposes) are as follows:
Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil- antioxidant, fragrance, skin moisturizing/conditioning
Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil- skin moisturizing/conditioning
Pistacia Vera Seed Oil- skin moisturizing/conditioning
C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate- antimicrobial, skin moisturizing/conditioning
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride- fragrance, skin moisturizing/conditioning
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil- fragrance, skin moisturizing/conditioning
Fragance (Parfum)- fragrance
Tocopheryl Acetate- antioxidant, skin moisturizing/conditioning (may cause skin irritation)
Lecithin- skin moisturizing/conditioning (may cause skin irritation/allergies)
Amyl Cinnamal- fragrance, masking (may cause skin irritation/allergies)
Benzyl Benzoate- fragrance, solvent, antimicrobial, masking (may cause skin irritation/allergies)
Citronellol- fragrance, masking (may cause skin irritation/allergies)
Geraniol- fragrance, masking (may cause skin irritation/allergies)
Limonene- fragrance (may cause skin and eye irritation/allergies)
Linalool- fragrance, masking (may cause skin irritation/allergies)

Be sure to check before you buy (or especially use) this product, to make sure you won’t have an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients (such as almond oil or soybean oil)!

A note for those with sensitive skin who may be worried about potential issues- I have sensitive skin and frequent problems with eczema, and I have never experienced skin irritation or any other sort of negative reaction from using this massage oil.

It can leave a bit of an oily/greasy residue afterward, but that is easily remedied by taking a warm, damp cloth and wiping the area down gently to remove the excess. If that's not enough, the massage oil residue washes away with soap and warm water.

Taste / Aroma

Each unique scent of this massage oil is meant to serve a different purpose.

The Healing Blend (purple) is meant to soothe muscles and restore harmony through relaxation. The scents included in this blend are elemi, clary sage, clove, and nutmeg.

The Soaring Spirit (turquoise) is meant to energize, invigorate, and refresh. The scents included in this blend are citrus, geranium, ginger, and fennel.

The Sweet Almond (orange) is meant to be sensual and calming to help reduce stress. This blend really just smells like almond extract.

The Pleasure Garden (green) is meant to be sensual and seductive. The scents included in this blend are jasmine, rose, lavender, and sandalwood.

The Serenity (blue) is meant to bring peace/tranquility to body and soul. The scents included in this blend are cedar, marjoram, orange and lavender.

As the title of my review indicates, I ordered the Pleasure Garden. To me, it smells mainly of rose, with undertones of sandalwood and jasmine. It really is a wonderful aroma, reminiscent of my grandpa’s rose garden.

The scent is strong enough that it’s easily noticeable when the oil’s been rubbed into the skin, but not so strong that it could be called overwhelming. When I use it to moisturize my arms and legs after showering, I spend the rest of the day catching tantalizing hints of the aroma… Or huffing myself. I do that a lot too, when I’m wearing something that smells nice.

I have no idea what this massage oil tastes like, because to be completely honest, I feel no inclination to put it anywhere near my mouth. I don't find the flowers whose essences are incorporated into this oil to be palatable, so I doubt the product itself would be much better. And yes, I have tried to eat a rose before.
    • Smells good

Performance

Because this is a thinner massage oil, it doesn’t last a very long time, so reapplication is necessary for a massage lasting longer than 15 minutes. Obviously with dryer/rougher skin, reapplication will be necessary sooner than that. It’s best to start out with a small amount and add more as necessary, rather than slather a ton all over and end up with oil dripping and running all over the place.

After the massage, the masseuse’s hands and the area of the recipient’s body that was massaged are likely to have a slightly greasy/oily residue. It will absorb if given time (about 15 minutes for me), but can be cleaned up easily enough. As I said before, to simply wipe away the residue without losing the fragrance, just use a warm damp cloth to wipe down the affected area. If you really want to be thorough (and get rid of the fragrance), then soap and water will do the trick.

Because this is an oil product, it is incompatible with latex products. In other words, don't let your condoms or latex toys come into contact with this oil or skin that has the oil on it, because the oil can potentially degrade the latex enough to cause problems (broken condom, for example).
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

This product arrived tied in a plastic bag, as do most oils and lotions from EdenFantasys. The bottle itself is subtle-looking (nothing about the label screams “SEX”). It is simply a tall, narrow 8 ounce clear plastic bottle (soft plastic, so you can squeeze it) with a black cap that can be popped up (one-handed) by pressing on one edge or twisted off. When you twist off the cap for the very first time, there is a silver and white safety seal which prevents the oil from leaking during shipment, and to ensure that it can’t be tampered with.

The bottle does leak quite a bit once that safety seal has been removed. We tried wrapping our bottle in plastic wrap to keep it from leaking if it got knocked over, but even then, it leaked THROUGH the plastic wrap! Essentially, you’ll want to keep the bottle upright at all times, and away from anything you’d not want the oil leaking onto.

Anyway, the bottle has a label (the Pleasure Garden scent is green) that says “Kama Sutra Pleasure Garden”, along with information about what scents it contains, ingredients, and where the company is located.

    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Leaky container

Personal comments

Just a few notes:
-oil dispenses easily, but also leaks easily, especially if not kept perfectly upright.
-nice to apply right after a shower, when your skin is extra-absorbent.
-can be heated by rubbing hands together or by putting bottle in cup of hot water for a few minutes.
-for external use only
-not edible

Experience

When I was in college, I studied massage therapy so I could better take care of my fiance (now husband), because he frequently comes home aching from work. This past Valentine's day, I surprised him with this massage oil.

Despite it being the "sexy arousal" scent, I don't think we've ever followed up a Pleasure Garden enhanced massage with sex.

We find it to be wonderfully sensual, but it's just not the kind of scent that makes us want to have happy, sexy fun times after using it. Actually, I most frequently use this to massage his back when he's home from work exhausted and aching, or when he's having trouble falling asleep at night, neither of which are particularly sexy times to begin with.
Follow-up commentary
This isn't the best massage product I've ever used, but it smells nice and cleans up easily... It even stays slick for a decently long time. I'd definitely suggest it, but this isn't so wonderful as to become our go-to massage oil.
