Organic lip balm - lip balm discontinued by Evolution of Smooth - review by Neotigress

This product is perfect for any human (kids included) who wants to have soft, supple and kissable lips. My lips dry out quickly and often due to working in an office environment with a/c or heaters going ALL the time. Add to that, I have some health issues that cause delicate skin and a propensity for irritations and allergies and my choices for products narrows down quickly... right down to those medicine-esque smelling tubes of paraffin that rip the top two layers of skin as you apply them. Thanks to EOS, the clouds have parted and angels are singing on high, because there is now EOS Organic Lip Balm.

Somehow EOS has found the perfect formulation for lip balm, that is not oily or greasy, YET it is smooth and creamy. Goes on effortlessly (not like those thick waxy old school tubes of lip balm).

This lip balm is not at all sticky. If I run my fingers over the surface of my lips where I've applied it about half will come off onto my finger (this is why you need to be kissing your girlfriends when they are wearing this gentlemen. Then you too will have soft and kissable lips).

When wearing the balm, the aroma is negligible and simply the hint of mandarin oranges. When you open the lid and smell the balm directly, it too smells of oranges, but there is a slight hint of something camphor-like. It isn't unpleasant, but is there.

The taste of the mandarin orange is perfect and just like a light taste of the fruit it claims to imitate. I also have strawberry and it tastes quite nicely of strawberries, but rather then real fruit, it leans slightly to the "artificial" strawberry taste. The strawberry balm smells of the actual fruit when worn on the mouth and it too has that underlying camphor smell if you open the cap and sniff directly from the balm in the container.

I can taste and very slightly smell the flavor the entire time I notice that balm it on my lips. Part of the way I can tell that I want to reapply (I don't need to, because the balm has left my lips soft and smooth), is that I can't taste or smell this product anymore, and the taste and smell are so enticing that I want to keep it applied to my lips all the time.

This product is colorless, so there is no need to remove it. It wears without the need to reapply for approximately 30 minutes; however, it does taste and smell so good as well as the packaging is so nice to hold and open that I tend to apply it sooner than that, but it is from shear sensual enjoyment.

I have absolutely no complaints about this product. As a matter of fact, I've been searching for a product that performed like this does for years.

This balm is easily removed and left my lips hydrated after use, not dry like some of the other balms that I've alluded to in previous sections of my review.

I think that because of it's light and not overpowering smell and taste that men would enjoy using it to avoid chapped lips just as much as women do. Even if they kiss you to apply it.

The container sphere is approximately 1.75 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide and 5.25 inches in circumference.

Wow, somewhere in the world there is a product designer who thinks outside "the tube". The EOS Organic Lip Balm, is in a a colorful sphere that is divided at a center line and the top twists off comfortably at a thumb sized divot carved into the side in one spot.

When you take off the top of the sphere, the cap has a sphere "form" inside the lid made of clear plastic that is inserted into the cap, so that when you replace the cap the balm itself keeps a spherical shape and when you screw the cap back on it seals with a comforting "click" (refer to attached photos). The cap does require two hands to unscrew (at least for me).

This well designed package has a convenient flat bottom so that it sits nicely on a flat surface and doesn't go rolling around willy/nilly.

The sphere is colored to coordinate with the flavor, in this case mandarin orange. And is made of plastic that has a smooth velvety texture to it.

It is sturdy enough to drop into my purse with no fear what-so-ever that the cap will come off or that there will be any damage to the container from all the other objects floating around with it.

For me, being so sensitive to chemicals AND textures this product shines for it's usability and comfort. Many times lip balms are too stiff or waxy, or they are overpowering in their taste or scent. EOS has found the perfect balance of ingredients to create a lip balm that functions to make your lips supple and is comfortable to wear and pleasant to experience.

The website also states that this line of lip balm is Gluten-free, Paraben-free, Petrolatum-free and Phthalate-free.

As an aside: the size of the container and the spherical shape makes it wonderful as a massage ball when you're out and about and need relief from a sudden cramp or muscle spasm.

This would make a perfect stocking stuffer or office holiday present.

And I confess that my cats love to roll the ball of balm around on the floor if I walk out of the room and leave it sitting on the desk.

At the moment I'm not seeing anyone, but I'm out doing the first date thing again soon. I will be wearing this in hopes of that magical first kiss.
