Flickering touch massage candle by LELO - review by chantalgiardina

I have come to love massage candles more than anything! There's something about them that just relaxes me and puts me on cloud 9. Maybe it's the warmth of the oil when it touches my body or maybe it's the incredible smell, either way they are a must have in my bedroom!


The list of ingredients include: Soy, Shea butter, Apricot oil, and perfume
Some people may be allergic to some of the ingredients, so make sure to check the ingredients list before purchase and use. While I did not find this candle to be bothersome at all, I also do not have any allergies or sensitivities. I would spot test this product first in a place that can be covered, just to make sure you do not react to the ingredients.

I love finding out the texture of the massage candle prior to lighting it, simply because no two are the same. Lelo has provided a candle that is soft, but not too soft. It isn't hard like regular candles, but it isn't as soft and mushy as some of the other massage candles I have tried either. It's a wonderful medium between the two. You can push in on it with little force. I love this about massage candles because it allows you to use your finger to apply some directly to your skin without the need to melt it down.
It's not the most hydrating candle I have tried, but it rubs in so smoothly. That totally makes up for it! It doesn't leave an oily residue this way either and rubs in pretty nicely. The smell will linger on your skin for a while too, which is a definite added bonus.


Once melted, it becomes a thin oil. It's warm, but I'd prefer it to be a little warmer. It will leave a little bit of residue on your skin/hands after it has been melted down. You can simply wash your hands afterwards with soap to remove this though. It isn't too bad, but definitely worth mentioning.

Lelo flickering touch massage candle comes in 3 different scents: Vanilla & Crème de Cacao, Snow Pear & Cedarwood, and Black Pepper & Pomegranate. I chose the Vanilla & Crème de Cacao, mainly because I love the smell of vanilla. The scent isn't strong and won't fill your room. I sat not even two feet from it and really couldn't smell it much when lit. The smell is the strongest when the candle is applied directly to your skin without being lit. However, it does smell good. It reminds me of a local bakery shop that my hubby and I visit often. I loved the scent, but it just wasn't strong enough for me to fully enjoy.

While I like the Lelo flickering touch massage candle, it isn't my favorite and I wouldn't cry if it was discontinued or out of stock. I still have a little over 3/4ths of the candle left even after 5 uses. It is slow to burn and doesn't burn all the way to the edges. This is a con for me because not all of the candle can be used since not all of it will burn. It is also slow to turn back into a solid form.

There was an oily residue left on my hands after the massage. It isn't a big deal for me, but I know it will be for others. It does wash off pretty easily though, with soap and water. The candle does not get hot while burning so you can move it, if needed.

The candle comes in a nice box. The top of the box simply states "Lelo". One side of the box has a picture of the candle with a little info on the candle and the other side of the box finishes the design from the front of the box. The front of the box has an outline of the candle with a circular design surrounding it and states "Lelo" as well as the scent. The back of the box simply states the ingredients, warnings, and how to use the product.



Upon opening the box you will find the candle as well as a small pamphlet that tells you the warnings as well as instructions on how to use the candle.



The candle comes in a glass jar, which is 2" around and 3" tall. The lid on the candle is metal with a plastic gripper. It's quite elegant and simple.



Once you take the lid off the candle you will find a foam piece with a ribbon that has Lelo written on it. You simply pull the ribbon to remove the foam piece.



The jar could possibly be reused, which is an added bonus. I love the lid on it. I will probably use it to hold paper clips and such on my desk. The only thing I found that I didn't like is that part of the paint was chipping off the side of the jar. This is probably caused by taking the metal lid on and off though and isn't too noticeable.

I continue to love this candle and use it often, though I wish the scent was stronger. The oily feelings afterwards is not a huge issue for me and can be overlooked. My husband and I both love the scent and are considering purchasing the other 2 scents. It provided a relaxing massage to both my husband and I.
