Dona linen spray - mist by System JO - review by Katie09

Weak, Very Weak

I would not purchase this product or recommend it. I felt as though I had to apply maximum amounts of it for minimum results.
Smells great, packaged attractively, relatively well-priced
Scent was weak, need to apply a lot of product, aphrodisiacs did not effect us

extremely useful review

DONA by JO is an aphrodisiac infused line consisting of different 20 bath and body products. The name originates from Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of sexuality and love. It may also interest you to learn that this product line was created for women by other women. It is intended to be a ritual, consisting of five steps: relax, cleanse, nourish, illuminate and engage. This Linen Spray is part of step 4, the illuminate step.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture of this product is about the same as a body mist. It sprays out in a light poof. The applicator works very well and allows the product to spray easily and be applied evenly. Once you've used it, there is no sticky or greasy residue on your sheets.

Taste / Aroma

Products from this line are infused with one of six proven aphrodisiacs. Please note for fragrance preference that Acai, Camu Camu, and Goji are types of berries, Lotus is a flower, and Mangosteen and Pomegranates are types of fruit. I purchased this Linen Spray in Acai. Now, all the fragrances in the DONA product line are on the lighter side, as the products are intended to be used together to creating a layering effect. There is currently no taste added to these products.
    • Light smell
    • No taste
    • Smells good

Sadly, I was disappointed with this product. As I mentioned earlier, the DONA scents are light since they are meant to be used in conjunction with the rest of the products in the line. Well, this may work for body products, as you use several of them. However, I am only using a single product on my sheets and unfortunately, this was way too light. You have to apply it quite liberally in order to smell anything. Then the scent fades quickly as well.
    • Reapply often

DONA Linen Spray comes in a 4.5 fl oz plastic bottle with a spray top and plastic cover. The cap closes securely and the spray nozzle works easily. The label on this product has a print of a darker brown lace over a lighter metallic brown background. The front of the bottle lists the product name, what the product is, that it contains aphrodisiacs, the scent, and some of the eco-friendly bullet points (more on that later). The back of the bottle has brief instructions, the ingredients, and the product's official website. Please note this product does contain glycerin, which may be irritating to some. Here are all the details:

Directions: Spray on fabric, wait, and breathe in happily.

Ingredients: Purified Water, PPG-26 Buteth 26, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lycium Barbarum (Goji), Coffee Arabica (Coffee Seed), Euterpe Oleracea (Acai), Morinda Citrifolia (Noni), Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Camelia Sinesis (Green Tea), Garcinia mangostana (Mangosteen), Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance

Website: (This link was not up and working at time of review)

Personally, I found the information offered with this product to be very minimal. I had to go to various websites to research the product on my own. I also read from a fellow reviewer that this product is meant to be used 10-15" away from the item you're spraying, which clearly should be printed on the bottle. I also found that the ingredients listed on the bottle did not match those listed by sellers online. It would have been nice if the product came with a hang tag or fold out label with information on all the steps, the scents & actions of the various aphrodisiacs, and the eco-friendly qualities.

    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Minimal
    • Travel friendly

Special Features

In addition to being aphrodisiac infused, DONA also claims to be a Green product line for the following reasons:

-created with natural and naturally derived ingredients
-obtained from renewable resources
-eco-friendly and biodegradable
-contains no mineral oil, petrolatum, lanolin, and other petroleum derivatives
-contains no parabens, sulfates, harsh chemicals, or preservatives
-cruelty-free and not tested on animals

As I have already discussed most of the qualities of this product, I think the only thing I have left to talk about is whether or not it lived up to the claim of increasing sensuality by being aphrodisiac infused. Sadly, while the scent was quite pleasing, this did nothing extra for my partner and me. The Acai is meant to have stamina prolonging qualities, but we didn't notice any difference. I'd like to give this product the benefit of the doubt and say maybe with daily use there would be more results.
Follow-up commentary
I haven't really used this product again since the first couple attempts. For me, that says a lot in itself, because I am usually feel strongly about using up products and not being wasteful. I just don't think this product smells strongly enough to be bother with. If liquid products were returnable, I would've sent this right back to Eden as soon as I tried it.

Have you thought about making your own linen spray?

I am continually amazed at the Dona line and the reviews. Every so often I think, you know, you should really try them out. Then I read another review and am reminded why I always give them a pass.

Thanks for the bi-annual reminder why I shouldn't buy it!
