K-Y yours and mine - lubricant discontinued by K-Y Brand - review by The-IT-Guy-And-My-Secretary

The whole concept of this product seemed like it would be great. We both saw the commercials and thought that it was a great idea and could only add to a good time.
It turns out that the product and its packaging end up being more of a pain than it is worth. This product was a huge let down for us. When the lube is causing friction instead of eliminating it, the product not only shows that it doesn't work but it also shows that it was poorly conceived and executed.

The cardboard box the product comes in was a nice small package black in color. It has the K-Y emblem on the box and shows the product for the Yours and Mine personal lube. The front of the box is taped to the side of the box with a clear circle adhesive. When you remove the adhesive you can see into the box and check out the tubes of lube within the packaging labeled Mine and Yours. When we opened the package, removing the product proved to be very difficult. The struggle getting the product out damaged the box so badly that we were no longer able to use it as storage. That in itself was kind of disappointing because I like to use the original box for storing most of the things we get.

Once the tubes had been removed we found that the tubes are held together by a removable black plastic clip. The Yours tube is blue and the Mine tube is purple. They are about 5 inches long and 7/8's of an inch wide. The lubes are water based, making them good for use with toys. The tubes have a capacity of 1.5 fl oz (44mL) and are opened by pressing down on the top of the lid. The tubes have a bump designed to be used with the black clip on the outside of the tube to prevents them from moving once secured in place. I think the clip that holds the two tubes together are a great idea considering the fact that they are designed to be used together, so they should be stored together. With my bedroom etiquette usually one would get lost in the throws of passion taking away the effectiveness of the second tube. I also found that the bottom of both tubes of lube are round. This is a bit of a pain because there really is no way to stand them up and prevent them from rolling away on their side unless they are in the black clip clipped to each other. After several uses I found that the actual screw on portion of the cap had come loose. Every time I would use the lube I had to tighten the lid to prevent it from leaking. I have found I have to tighten the lid after every use and store it in a plastic bag to stop it from leaking.

I found that the Yours (For Him) version produced a light warming sensation and my wife found that the Mine (For her) produced a tingling sensation. (I am told that the Mine should produce a cooling sensation) The selling point of the lube is that they are great when used separately and they are supposed to be even better when used together. My wife and I didn't experience any sort of additional sensation during sex while having them combined. We did feel the warming and tingling but other than that, there was no other feeling involved. We did however notice that the lube dried out very quickly and became uncomfortable and very sticky. It needed to be reapplied several times and by that point you were sticky and uncomfortable. At the very least the product should lubricate and it doesn't appear to be able to pull that off.

The last time we used the lube we were kind of in a hurry and I forgot to tighten the cap after we applied it. I close the lid properly and put it aside on the dresser to find out the next morning it had leaked out 3/4 of the product onto our furniture leaving a nice mess for us to clean up. Now we have one almost full tube and one that is almost completely empty. Even if we had felt that wonderful feeling it would only work with both tubes and because of the faulty lid we are now out of 3/4 of one product. That was just the icing on the cake because I feel that this could have all been prevented if someone had designed a flat bottom to the tubes.

When all is said and done I really don't care for this product. I am a bit disappointed that I paid what I did for it, and it most likely will sit until we decide to throw it out. We used it several times and the first and second time we both gave the product the benefit of the doubt and assumed that maybe we had not found the best way to use the product, or maybe we weren't using enough of it. I think after the third and fourth time we have come to the conclusion that it really doesn't add anything to an experience, it seems to take away from it. The last thing you want is to have you or your wife sticky during sex. The lack of lubrication can end up hurting you or your partner and in the end when you would rather take a shower to wash off the lube then relax and enjoy the afterglow, you might want to look into something else. I personally love Maximus and that is what I recommend.

After my review, I went looking to find the other tube. As I had said, we had one leak out and I think we ended up dropping it behind the bed. After a bit of looking I found the other one and kinda nudged my wife into giving it one more shot. Yet again, just as before; the individual feelings were pretty good but no great combined feeling. Before I could even ask she grabbed the Maximus and shoved the K-Y off the bed. I think that really finalized how we felt about the K-Y.

Later on she told me it started getting sticky again and she was not going to even try to mess around with it anymore. I think we will hold on to it for each others personal use, but as for both of us using it at once, I think that has come to an end. The end all and be all is that we still don't like it.
