More Like an Oil than a Lube

As a silicone lubricant, it's not as multipurpose as it should be because it is too thin. You'll be able to find a place in your toy play for this lubricant, but it's not something you'll reach for a lot. We sure don't. It's way too think and runny.

Use

I wasn't expecting much from this lubricant because I am not a fan of many WET lubricants in general. I am really impressed with the longevity of the lubricant, but the feel is less than desirable. It feels more than an oil and is very watery. It runs everywhere when it gets dispensed. It works best for vaginal sex and toy play, but it can work for anal toys as well. I don't think it's very good for anal sex because it is so thin. It's also not that great in water for the same reason. It is safe for all condom types and can be used with toys that are not pure silicone, silicone compositions, cyberskin or any material like cyberskin. It works especially well with hard non-porous materials like glass and metal.

It's ingredients are as follows:

Dimethicone, Cydomethicone, Dimethiconol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate

There is not much to this lubricant, just a bunch of silicon-based organic polymers. These ingredients are widely used in many household items like shampoos and eye contacts. Cydomethicone and dimethiconol is specifically used in many anti-aging and hair products. All of these ingredients are considered non toxic. Tocopheryl Acetate is also known as a vitamin E supplement used in many skin creams. This lubricant is safe by also not having L-Arginine, Petro-chemicals, glycerin, or parabens.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Wet Platinum Bodyglide is water like, and VERY runny. It doesn't stay put at all and doesn't have a good consistency for large toys or anal. Actually, it feels more like an oil than a lubricant, a thin one at that. It does spread around easily which is a high point of it being so thin and runny, but it doesn't coat things well even if you use large amounts of the stuff. It is very silky once it gets rubbed into the skin a bit, but is feels greasy when it gets even more absorbed. Once it is completely absorbed it makes the skin feel very silky, but it took over an hour for that to occur.

Taste / Aroma

This is supposed to be unflavored and unscented. I'll agree with the unflavored part. I can't taste much of anything at all. The smell is not strong, but it does have a bad odor. The smell is hard to describe, like stall garbage maybe. It's not rancid, but it isn't pleasant.

Performance

Vaginal toys: I found that this lubricant works best for hard non-porous materials like glass. It lasts a lot longer on firm materials. I'm not a fan of using this externally, on my clit for example. This is because of the oil like consistency and grimy feeling it can give after some time. Internally, it doesn't bother me and makes everything feel silky smooth afterward.

Vaginal sex: It lasts a really long time and doesn't ever get sticky as advertised. This lubricant was used for as least 30 minute sex sessions without having to be reapplied. We didn't like the feeling during sex, however. It doesn't feel natural and sometimes gave a bit too much slickness. If my boyfriend was thrusting, sometimes he would slide out when normally pulling that far back would not cause him to slide out.

Anal play: If I used a glass probe anally, this was a good lubricant. However, TPR type materials didn't go in as smoothly. For anal sex, this isn't a good lubricant. It is much too thin for that type of friction. Again, it is best used with hard materials.

Water play: Probably due to it's thin consistency and inability to really grab onto what it is applied, this lubricant is not good for shower play. My partner and I love silicone lubricants for shower sex because they don't wash away easily. It's not that this washed away all that easily, it is just too thin.

It requires soap and water to wash off.

Packaging

There are four sizes currently available on Eden: 1.5 oz, 2 oz, 4 oz, and 8 oz bottles. Depending on the size you get, the package will be different. I have the 1.5 ounce sized bottle. In comes in a small plastic bottle like many of WET's 1.5 ounce lubricants. It has a push to open cap that is easy to use and is great for travel because it doesn't leak. Just make sure the top is screwed on tightly. The package that the 1.5 ounce bottle has is fairly discreet with a black label. Instead of using the word lubricant, it says premium body glide on the front label. The back has the ingredients and warnings. A printed expiration date appears towards the top and has approximately four years of shelf life. Mine says 07/2013, but I got it a few years ago.

Special Features

Honestly, this lubricant can be used as a moisturizer and massage oil. I like to use it to saturate rough spots on my heels after long summers of wearing flip flops and heels. It works well for massages with toys. I don't like to get it on my hands because of the greasy feeling, but it's a great lubricant for use with massage tools on the back and thighs. It's not something I leave on my skin, however. I'm afraid it might clog pours, so I always go and shower immediately after.

Personal comments

Conclusion:

4/5 for longevity
4/5 for ingredients
2/5 for feel
3/5 for price/size
3/5 overall

The price of this lubricant is much to high for the quality and the amount that you get. You can get much thicker multipurpose lubricants for this price or even a little less. As a silicone lubricant, it's not as multipurpose as it should be because it is too thin. You'll be able to find a place in your toy play for this lubricant, but it's not something you'll reach for a lot. We sure don't.
Follow-up commentary
Wet Platinum isn't the best silicone lubricant I have tried by any means, but it last a long time, so it's still got a place in my large lube collection. I like it for plugs since that doesn't get the lubricant everywhere.

I'm not a fan of silicone lubes, so it probably would take me about as long to use a little bottle like you, lol.
