It's Alive! Barely

I love the idea of Vitality so much that I want to suggest improvements -- however, the fact remains that Vitality needs improvement. It's an attractive variation on the Leaf theme, but many will find the vaginal arm very petite, while the separated arms will not stimulate; and others will find the incredibly buzzy and whiny noise a turn off. However, if you've had bad experiences with other rabbits, Vitality is completely different and may give you a new lease on life.

Use

The Vitality is the Leaf line's rabbit: the slightly longer arm is intended for vaginal penetration while the smaller arm is intended to rest against the clitoris and offer external stimulation. While the two arms may look like the Form 2 or Clamp's shape, the Vitality is too large and separate to 'pinch' the clitoris or vibrate in stereo around the clitoral shaft.

Intro

You'll like Vitality if...
1. You're looking for a small rabbit
2. You prefer buzzy vibrations
3. Have had bad experiences with pointy, hard rabbit arms
4. Don't need a couples' toy

For reasons I'll explain below, the Vitality is a very different kind of rabbit. It's rather small altogether and certainly the penetrative arm is on the petite side -- most rabbits are not, so it will please those who are looking for a smaller and more attractive alternative to some jack rabbits. Since the arms are of comparable length, not too much penetration is necessary -- so, if you don't like the idea of accommodating a very large rabbit you'll find Vitality again to be a worthwhile option.

Of course, like most rabbits, Vitality is not entirely conducive to couples' play, though someone could certainly use it on a woman. Since Vitality is so small, you may find that it doesn't 'hog' the woman's vulva from sight or from other toys.

While both arms offer vibrations and they're separately controlled (awesome!) the clitoral arm is rather buzzy. Those who prefer the urgent, surface vibrations of buzzy toys will enjoy this. Those that also dislike 'pointy' arms on rabbits or arms that force way too much pressure on this area will like Vitality.

But Vitality won't please...
...A significant number of people. Those who will not like Vitality: those who paid full, expensive retail and expected a powerful, rumbly toy that would provide orgasms without too much user-input. Sorry, Leaf! Vitality requires moving around and repositioning to really be effective.

Material / Texture

The Vitality by Leaf is just like the other vibes in the Leaf line -- green, 100% matte silicone and firm overall, though the Vitality can flex at the base of its leaves. Comparing it to other brands, the silicone is much like that of Jopen's silicone, though it has a slight cushion-y feel, more so than Lelo or Zini toys. The silicone is only slightly draggy and works well with water-based lubes. In my experience, I haven't found that Vitality seems 'suck up' lube, which is a plus. The Leaf vibes also avoid picking up too much lint, if that's your pet peeve.

Vitality has a shadowy, visible seam running laterally over the entire toy. It can't be felt in use and barely with a finger.

Buttons and seam

The silicone skin covers the entire body of the toy, including the buttons. This makes the entire appearance of the toy uniform and also waterproof. The Vitality is totally smooth, without any texture on either of the arms. Though the arms have some gentle curvature, they feel mostly straight in use.

Vitality had no smell or taste and all of its components come packaged separately and hygienically in plastic.

Design / Shape / Size

I love the design of all the Leaf vibes -- they're ergonomic, have organic curves, shaped to your hand and nothing you'd be ashamed of (in fact, you'd probably want to show it off). As this is the third Leaf vibrator I've reviewed, I can safely say that Leaf is trying some very unique and refreshing approaches breathe new life into old designs. I also reviewed the Fresh here and the Bloom.

Measurements

The Vitality is shaped with a rabbit's purpose in mind: the larger arm is mean to penetrate vaginally, while the smaller arm should sit with the broad side pressing against the clitoris. It's shaped like a sprouting plant, which I love.

Sprouts leaves

G-spotter? No.
The first thing you might notice is that the vaginal arm curves away from the clitoral arm, which means that it doesn't face your G-spot. This is entirely true, the vaginal arm provides no natural G-spot stimulation. The toy is flexible and small enough for you to position the Vitality to do so, however, so it's not the end of the world -- but then, you lose clitoral stimulation.

You could try thrusting with the Vitality, which will make it stimulate your G-spot, though I know this is not a popular thing to do with rabbits since the expectation is that a toy should stimulate without your input.

The Clitoral Arm:
The clitoral arm is well designed. It has a broader surface in the middle, where it likely meet most clitorises. This is also where the bullet contained inside the leaf is located, so you will experience the most of what vibrations do exist from this area.

Normally, I hate extra-long clitoral arms -- they tend to overshoot my clitoris and poke up into my mons, which will either tug on pubic hair or poke sensitive skin or otherwise just plain miss. Vitality does not do this in any way, thank goodness: the curve in the clitoral arm, especially once the vaginal arm is inserted, will ensure that the tip bends away from you and all your clitoris is pressed against will be the vibrating bullet. Phew.

The Flexible Neck:
It's too flexible. Way too flexible. You can bend each of the arms away from the center by about 90 degrees and if you bend both, it's almost 180 degrees. Nobody's anatomy is shaped like this, so I have no idea why Leaf made the arms this flexible. Some people have suggested holding the two arms together at the base to make them come together and reduce flexibility, but I have a small fear of putting too much pressure on the slimmest part of the toy. It does work, though.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Vitality has two motors, each with their own controls, which is awesome. When held up in front of yourself, the top button controls the vaginal arm while the bottom controls the clitoral arm. Click once to turn on; then click and hold to cycle up in power. The LED light will flash green to let you know you've reached a higher level until you reach the max level, where it will be steady. Click once to turn it off.

Small and Needy:
So you've seen exactly how small the Vitality really is. You can also see that the arms are separate and at first, you would think "I should have no problem fitting between there". But the real problem is that there's too much room. Combined with the fact that arms are so flexible and once it's lubed up, Vitality will slither away from you and be unable to sit still long enough to really get your groove on.

I consider myself smaller in general and I have a preference for smaller toys, but the Vitality is too small even for me. It's on the order of being penetrated with a regular, small, 3" bullet. This certainly has the possibility of pleasing those who want a break from large toys and want to try something new, can't accommodate many penetrative toys or were looking for a small rabbit (they're actually pretty hard to find).

But the small size also means Vitality can just plain move around a lot. You have to position Vitality yourself to press against your clit or G-spot by changing the angle of penetration, sometimes drastically. This is not a toy for lazy masturbators who like near-hands free stimulation or lay-on toys. Vitality requires you to participate, through rubbing or angle-ing. Rubbing myself doesn't feel unnatural to me, though I'd like it if a toy could just magically give me an orgasm.

The Water Test:
I found a way to visualize the vibrations of a toy, since you can't hold a toy in your hand when you read a review. I tested all my toys in this way! Using a shallow basin of water, I immerse the tip of a toy in it. Toys that are buzzy, with high-frequency vibrations generate small ripples. Toys that have deep, rumbly vibrations generate larger ripples. Overall power generally correlates with lots of water movement in general. Check it out:

Based on the way it feels and on these results, I'm fairly sure Leaf used the same motor in both the Vitality's arms as that in the Bloom's handle. The Bloom's handle motor was a sore disappointment to me, which also explains why I wasn't so happy with the Vitality. I'm really holding it against Leaf that they didn't use the larger motors, found inside the Fresh and the head of the Bloom, for the Vitality.

Compare the above shots to that of the Jopen 6.5, which I rated at 5 vrooms. The difference is startling and rreally shows that the Vitality is on the weaker side.

Care and Maintenance

The Vitality, like many rechargeable, waterproof, silicone and luxury toys is at least easy to care for, no matter their shortcomings.

Vitality charges fast, in about an hour and a half. Simply plug the DC jack into the port, located behind the large arm, near the neck of the toy. When you plug it into the wall, a red charging light will appear to let you know everything's working. When the toy is done charging, the red light will turn off.

Since the Vitality is waterproof, you can immerse it in warm, soapy water for a good clean. You could also a 10% bleach solution or toy wipes. Do not, however, boil, microwave or place in the dishwasher, as its motorized components will not like that. Your appliances probably won't either.

Though the Vitality has no texture or ridges, be sure to pay attention to the area between the arms while cleaning. Also be sure to dry the DC port thoroughly so that water isn't introduced into the toy when you go to charge it.

Packaging:
The Vitality, like its Leaf brothers and sisters, is a delight to store. The box Vitality is came in is all you need -- it's a hard, perfectly-sized box for the toy and its accessories.

The box has a flap that's secured by magnets and a level that holds the manual. It's a very attractive presentation for this luxury toy.

Follow-up commentary
You know, I may have judged Vitality a bit quickly. I've come to appreciate its smaller size based on portability and comfort. And certainly, it's still a fairly powerful toy.

Also, like the rest of the Leaf line, its battery is excellent: I can get a lot of play time out of one charge; Vitality keeps a charge well while in storage; and it charges fast.

I'd actually change my original 3 star rating to a 4 -- let's be friends, Vitality!
