Moka Me Melt... on a Good Day

All in all, I have mixed feelings about Moka. It's a safe, attractive toy that just didn't live up to my expectations. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and say that it may just be designed for someone else. If it sounds good to you, I'd give it a try! I'll definitely continue using it; I may just relegate it to "helper" status and not count on Moka to get me there all on its own.

Use

This sleek little item is shaped and marketed as a G-spot vibrator. Unfortunately, I found the internal vibrations underwhelming. I tried all the settings, but my G-spot just wasn't feeling it. The vibrations were adjustable, but I found only the higher settings effective, and then only on my clitoris. I found the Moka to be much more useful for external stimulation, and although it's good for pushing me over the edge when I'm already turned on, it does little to arouse me if I'm not already stimulated. For someone who is sensitive or easily stimulated, this is probably a great bet for solo play. I did enjoy the multiple vibration patterns and think that if I was a bit more sensitive, I would have loved this as an external vibrator, but not for G-spot stimulation. This wand is not designed for anal play, as it does not have a flared base.

Material / Texture

The majority of this toy (excluding the hard plastic part you unscrew at the end to insert batteries) is silicone: smooth, seamless, satin-y silicone. It's nonporous and has no scent unless you put your nose right on it, and even then, it's just a very slight, sweet, almost powdery smell. It's the perfect material for a beginner who isn't sure what textures will do it for them yet and wants something sexy, safe, and unintimidating.
    • Light odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

Moka's ergonomic design is attractive, especially for the price. The size was not a problem for me when I had it angled right, but the angled head made it difficult to slip easily past my pubic bone and may be a bit difficult for beginners who have spent less time understanding their internal structure. The angled head also makes thrusting very difficult, and the vibrations alone were not enough stimulation for me without thrusting, which got frustrating.

At almost 7.75", it's not the most discreet toy in the world, but it fits easily in the average shoe box or night stand drawer.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Moka's vibrations reverberate throughout its entire length. There are three easy to use buttons located on the side of the upper shaft:

1. Hold to turn on/press to turn up vibrations
2. Change vibration mode
3. Hold to turn off/press to turn down vibrations

I had no trouble figuring out how it worked, and it came with instructions explaining the controls.
Unscrewing the end and putting in two AAA batteries was easy enough. I take the batteries out between uses to preserve battery power as recommended, and I had one heck of a time getting the cap back on the end every time. It's difficult to line up and not good for grabbing in the heat of the moment. If you plan to introduce it during sex, struggle through the battery loading in advance. Also, make sure you don't accidentally twist the cap during use, because it takes very little pressure to pop the top off, bringing things to a crashing halt. On the bright side, the batteries have lasted me hours already and it's going strong as ever.

This toy is advertised as waterproof, but water resistant is more accurate. I had no problems when I used it in the shower, but when I unscrewed the supposedly watertight battery lid there were a few drops of water in the 'sealed' area. I definitely wouldn't submerge it, but I have not had problems when I wash it with soap and warm water under the sink faucet.
    • Easy to use
    • Long lasting power
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

I wash this toy with antibacterial soap and warm water, and it's squeaky clean in mere moments. I've been using it frequently for a couple of weeks, and it's still as pristine as when I first took it out of the box. Moka is silicone, so you can't use it with silicone-based lube. I use it with a water-based lube (I used Maximus), and it works great. Make sure it's not stored touching other silicone toys and it should be fine.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Experience

I'm new to toys, so I wasn't really sure what to expect when I ordered this. Don't get me wrong, I've had fun playing with this (and isn't that what toys are for?), but I think I'll need to try a few more toys before I know whether the Moka failed to deliver or I'm just hard to please.

Great job on your first review! Have you spot-tested a silicone lube on the finish? SOmetimes you can use a hybrid or a silicone formula and not experience any issues.
