Lelo's Liv vibe is definitely a good buy, despite the price.
She's a perfect toy for beginners due to her ease of use, high quality materials, inviting design, and packaging. While not waterproof, her multiple functions and variable powers completely make up for it. Her smaller size might not satisfy those looking to feel filled up, but it definitely makes her a great choice for a woman looking for her first toy and wants it to last a very long time.

Pros
High quality materials, rechargeable, and gorgeous to look at.
The Liv is a fantastic toy, all around. Her curve was perfect for foreplay and hugs you deliciously before you even insert her. She has enough of a tip to be used on the clit, but where she really shines is in G-spot stimulation. With her multiple intensities and a plethora of different vibration rhythms to choose from, Liv has something for everyone. Even my boyfriend enjoyed her, with her curve so similar to Lelo's Billy; she worked beautifully as a prostate massager. But please use caution in using Liv as an anal toy; she lacks the flange that Billy has, so you need to be very watchful.
With her recharging battery, travel-lock feature, and how quietly she functions, I definitely recommend Liv to anyone who wants a discreet toy that they don't have to worry about roommates hearing. Even on her strongest setting, and she can get pretty strong, her hum barely whispers above a fluffy comforter.
Liv is made of body safe silicone and has a wonderful, warm, velvety feel to the touch. She does have that silicone scent to her, but I know that will fade over time. She is firm, with very slight give to her when squeezed, and no flex to her, which is part of what makes her such an effective G-spot massager. She is completely smooth with a gentle curve along the upper length of the shaft. She is a pleasure to touch, and warms to your skin quickly.
Her chrome band creates a sophisticated transition to her handle, which is made of smooth plastic, that follows the curve of the toy, with a 4-way directional button, backlit with an LED, that changes color from white to red when the battery needs recharging. I found this extremely ingenious of them, since I never had to guess if I needed to charge her again.
Liv's design was both sophisticated and effective. Her curves seem natural and fit well to the body. I had no problem finding my G-spot with this vibe, despite failed attempts by many others. The controls were easy to use, even while she was inserted. I had no problem cycling through her different functions and never had a problem with accidentally pushing a button when I didn't mean to.
Her handle is flush with the rest of the toy, but swells into a gentle bulb that sits comfortably and securely in your hand. I never lost my grip or had difficulty manipulating her, even when her handle became wet. It was easy for both my very small hands to manipulate, and my boyfriend's much larger hands.
I recommend Liv, first and foremost to beginners. She is petite, slim and not intimidating, in packaging or appearance, and her operation is intuitive. Women who need girth to their toys might be inclined to look elsewhere. For young women and women who prefer a smaller vibrator that can still deliver a high level of vibration, I strongly recommend Liv.
She is a great traveling vibrator. Her small size lends itself to overnight bags, purses, and tightly packed suitcases. She comes with her own small silk bag for travel, which fits both her and her charger, though I don't recommend storing them together. Her controls lock with the press of the middle of her directional pad, so you never have to worry about her accidentally making a fuss in your suitcase or purse.
Liv has multiple functions and multiple power levels. Between these two, the combinations are almost endless and allow you to really personalize each experience you have with her. The controls are subtle, well placed, and intuitive. Up and down for intensity, side to side to scroll through her different functions.
Her power levels range from a low, thrumming vibration all the way to a strong, buzzing vibration suitable for more intense sessions. People looking for a very strong toy might be left a little wanting, but for its noise level and discreet size, I thought it performed excellently.
Her controls have a white LED ring around them, which makes her easy to navigate in the dark. When Liv begins to get low on juice, her LED will change color to let you know easily-- there's no guesswork.
Liv is a silicone toy, and while that's great, you have to be sure not to use silicone based lube with her. Water-based lubes are best and won't react with her materials. There are no batteries to remove, but you should let her run a full charge cycle before plugging her back in, to help her internal battery last as long as it can.
She is not waterproof, so some care should be taken in washing her, I recommend a washcloth with hot water and some antibacterial soap. Toy cleaner will also work well if you have it.
Thankfully, the people at Lelo were thoughtful enough to include a satin pouch in her packaging, and this makes storage easy, keeping her separate from your other toys. It also makes travel easy, as the pouch is discreet as can be when tossed inside a purse or overnight bag.

Follow-up commentaryI still like it4 months after original review
I've had Liv for several more months, and I have to say, I still love her. She is one of my most used toys. Due to the fact she is rechargeable, I'm never left scrambling for batteries
