Remember the beginning of last month, we talked about Kansas House Bill 2107? If made into law, it would put more stringent regulations on adult industry businesses. They'd be banning fully nude dancers, topless servers, lap dances, closed viewing booths, private dances ... Pretty much everything that makes going to an adult theater or strip club fun! Okay, maybe not everything. But close!
The bill has passed twice in the House. The Kansas State Senate rejected it the first time, so they changed a couple words, here and there, and brought it back again.
Sen. Steve Abrams made the formal request Wednesday saying, “This is an important piece of legislation for many people in the state of Kansas. The state has a vested right to regulate sexually oriented businesses.”
The vote on whether or not to pull the bill out of committee and debate making it into a law finally hit the Senate floor. To revive the bill, they committee needed 24 out of 40 votes. And the Senate said no. They voted 22-17 to leave the bill right where it is.
