Say little Johnny comes home from school with a summer activity list. You know, stuff to keep him busy while school's out, and ease your worried mind. The events on the list look right up Johnny's alley, and you're already going over how you're going to work it into the budget when you notice the address.
Mission Ave. in San Francisco? Hey ... Isn't that that armory turned porn studio? What's it called? Kink.com?
Yes, Peter Acworth, who's managed to build a porn empire in the middle of a little neighborhood in San Francisco while donating thousands of dollars to the community, has decided it's time to take this unusual relationship with the general public one step further. He's making the armory's 38,000-square-foot drill court into a community center. Or he's trying, anyway.
Right now, the space is used as a parking lot. But Acworth already has the building permits needed to do the renovations he feels are necessary. And then? Why, we'll all head on down to the kink lounge for lemonade and hot dogs.
Kink.com assures the community nothing “untoward” will be visible from the drill court, and Acworth's even going to make sure the general public has its own special entrance. But as can be expected, the community's a little leery.
However, Roberto Hernandez, co-chair of the Mission’s Latino Leadership Council, seems to think that now that the neighborhood has gotten to know the company, and understands it can take Acworth at his word, there will be more gratitude than disgust. Here's hoping, eh?
