A book we're adding to our “to read” list hit the shelves Tuesday. It's a memoir by Steven Tyler, titled Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? And while a lot of it seems to be what you'd expect from a rock ’n’ roll star of his stature, some of it is quite surprising. In a “I totally wasn't expecting that, but it's really cool!” kinda way.
In it, the world-renowned rocker turned American Idol judge reminisces about ordering that 6-foot mirrors be placed backstage for him and the other members of Aerosmith to chop their cocaine lines on, and how his stage persona makes it impossible for women to trust him. He corrects a misquote about his being more woman than man (He says he’s actually half and half), and talks about how he got the Idol job through text messages.
On the subject of his sexuality, Tyler wrote, “Gay sex just doesn't do it for me. I tried it one time when I was younger, but I just didn't dig it.”
Well, Mr. Tyler, we dig your candor. Rock on, man.
