The Spur is an excellent strap-on or solo-use dildo for us more sensitive ladies. The shaft is composed of a lovely dual-density silicone: the squishy outer layer provides a bit of give for a soft, sensual sensation, while the firm-yet-flexible inner core offers just the right level of stiffness for g-spot stimulation. The wide, smooth-bottomed base is made of the firmer stuff, and is perfect for holding the Spur in place in a harness or can make a good handle for riding solo. In fact, when wearing it in a harness, if you should decide to position the base a bit lower so that the upper edge of the base is aligned with your body just so, you may end up having just as much fun as the lucky person on the receiving end...my girlfriend certainly did.

While anal sex is not my forte, this would be the ideal toy to use should I decide to further explore that frontier in the future due to its size, flared base, and squishy outer layer.

The Spur is made of high-grade silicone in two different densities, as mentioned above. The texture of the "skin" is quite smooth, with a bit of stickiness to it when dry. This means that (a) you should store it in the clear plastic cylinder with which it comes, and (b) you should use lube when putting it into action. To me, the squishy outer layer combined with the firm core creates a more realistic feel than anything else I've come across, and the softness and give are wonderful for sensitive women who dread that first penetration every time. When I received mine it had a bit of a chemical smell, but that disappeared after washing, and I think it actually came from the plastic packaging. It now has no flavor or scent. If you are a fan of ridges and bumps on your penetration toys, or if you enjoy the feeling of being stretched, this is not the toy for you; I wouldn't necessarily call this a beginner's toy, though, because I am pretty dang experienced with sex toys and I just adore the Spur.

This toy has a nice upward curve that will gently stimulate your G-spot. It will not give you deep penetration, and probably won't work for most "from-behind" positions. It IS great for missionary, for cowgirl, for reverse cowgirl, for sitting on your partner's lap with legs wrapped around her, for lying on your back with your tush at the edge of the bed and feet on her shoulders, and many more positions. As noted above, the size is smaller than average and will best suit sensitive/small/tight women and those who want an anal sex toy.

Regarding performance, the Spur may be a little too flexible for some. For me, this is a positive aspect, but if you require more firm pressure for your G-spot, you may find this to be a negative. The outer surface has a slightly sticky texture when clean and dry. This seems to cause it to need a good amount of lube, but then to "hold onto" it better once it's applied.

Being non-porous silicone, this toy is easy to wash. Just use soap and water or sterilize it by using the dishwasher or by boiling. It can be stored in any cool/room temperature place, but it's easy to keep it in the clear plastic cylinder it ships in. That will hold it upright, preventing the toy from becoming misshapen as well as keeping lint from collecting. Of course, you'd never want to use a silicone lube on a silicone toy. Use a water-based lube; they're safe for all toys AND safe for your body.

The package was a nice, simple, clear plastic cylinder with a brand decal, capped with black plastic at both ends. It can most certainly be used for storage, as the top is easy enough to remove and replace.

The only thing I'd change about the Spur is its color! I tend to shy away from toys that look like a man's body part, so if this one came in blue, purple, or even black, I'd be in heaven.

My partner and I have used this toy exclusively since purchasing it about a year ago. She likes the control and comfort of the wide base, and I LOVE the feel of the dual-density material. She recently discovered a way to position the edge of the base against her clit while in the harness, so that she is not only getting pleasure from my pleasure, but getting her own direct clitoral stimulation as well!
