The Spur That Shagged Me

Well, I'm really glad I purchased the Spur, and if it ever gets destroyed in a tragic accident I will buy another one without hesitation. It sits proudly next to my bed and is my new silicone darling. If you like toys that are quite small and flexible, this one is for you. If you like them medium-large and firm? Move along, there's nothing to see here.

Use

The Spur is absolutely perfect for a person who enjoys toys of smaller-than-average thickness and a reasonably short length for whatever orifice they enjoy penetrating! I highly recommend this as a dildo for people who enjoy, say, vaginal penetration with fingers over penetration with a real penis or average-sized toy. The wide base makes the Spur safe for anal use, and excellent for use with a harness as well.

The squishy material is so comfy that this is a great toy to play a little rough with, if that's your thing. It's soft and won't hurt your cervix or anything. It also retains heat well and if you run it under warm water for a while it feels like a real cock would.

The Spur is so flexible it could hypothetically be used to hard pack with a pair of tight underwear and tight jeans. The soft silicone seems a little delicate to me, though, and the toy is just too expensive for me to risk damaging it on a zipper or something.

Please note, this is a purely insertable toy and will offer little to no external stimulation as it does not vibrate or anything. It is also completely safe for play in the water since it has no electrical components or anything the water could harm.

Material / Texture

There is nothing that's not perfect about this material. I thought I loved O2 by Tantus but Vixskin is my new favorite!

The Spur is made out of 100% silicone and is dual density. It has a soft, squishy outside and firm inside. The soft layer is amazing to touch. It looks a little too shiny and rubbery but I don't even care. It feels very close to real skin and has very little drag to it unlike other silicone toys I have. This makes it very fun for stroking like a real cock. In fact, I can't stop stroking it. I am typing with one hand right now. Anyway, if you grab it, you can sink your fingers into it quite a bit before reaching the more rigid core even though the toy is small. The entire head of the toy is super squishy, making it great for deep thrusting.

The firm core is firmer than the outer layer, but it's still not very rigid. If you wiggle it, the toy bounces a lot and can be bent quite far in several directions.

Something I noticed was that the toy appeared to be covered in tiny marks and lines just like real skin. I wasn't sure if this was intentional or not (perhaps it came about from making the mold from a flesh-and-blood penis) but I thought it looked very realistic.

On that note, the soft outside of the toy is able to be scratched with something like a fingernail so I think VixSkin is more delicate than other silicone toys. I was able to scratch it with a fingernail at the base without applying a lot of pressure. I would be careful when using this toy with a harness to make sure it doesn't come into contact with rough edges on buckles or anything.

Oh, and as I briefly mentioned before, Vixskin retains temperature quite well.

Of course, like all my silicone toys, this one is a lint magnet but not as much as my O2 toy oddly enough. Keeping it in its original packaging has helped a lot with keeping lint off it and it cleans off pretty fast.

I found the "vanilla" color of this toy lovely as well and quite close to my own skin color (the review says I got a caramel one. I made a mistake and couldn't fix it!)

I detected no smell or taste from this high-quality product.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is basically, well, just as perfect as the material. The head is very detailed and defined, though not much bigger in girth than the shaft. There's a urethral slit molded in and the way the edge of the head sticks up is really realistic. There's also a large, detailed ridge under the head, all the way around the shaft. I couldn't tell if this was supposed to resemble the scar left by circumcision or what, but I liked the way it looked a lot.

There was a thin, squishy ridge running from below the head to the base that resembled a long vein and a more subtle ridge on the top side. There were no veins or anything elsewhere.
On the side of the base there is a very small, raised Vixen logo. I thought it was a mistake in creation at first. It kind of looks like a barcode. You have to look really closely to see that it says "Vixen."

The base is wide and round, and it will stick to a hard surface a bit even though it's not a suction cup.

The Spur is, according to Eden, 5 and 1/2 inches long with 4 and 3/4 of that being insertable. It is also supposedly 1 and 1/4 in diameter. From comparing it to other 1 and 1/4 diameter toys I have, I think this one is actually smaller than that. Vixen's home site confirms Eden's measurements but it just doesn't feel quite that big in girth.

This toy is, as you may have already guessed, not discreet at all and anyone who saw it would know immediately that it was a sex toy or some sort of penis statue. It's fairly small though so you could put it in its storage tube and hide it in your luggage if you wanted to take it traveling. Just be careful.

Performance

For me, this toy performed great. For other people who enjoy more girth or less flexible toys, I don't think it would fit their needs at all. I really enjoyed that the Spur bent easily to fit my body perfectly and was so easy to insert. It was really great for the kind of really hard thrusting I enjoy, because the squishy head didn't hurt my cervix in the slightest. It also feels great to clench ones PC muscles around it. That said, it didn't give me much in the way of g-spot stimulation, because it wasn't firm enough to apply a lot of pressure there. If that's the part you enjoy most out of vaginal penetration, you might not like this toy much and will want to get something firmer with a stronger curve.

For anal use, I found the Spur to be a little too squishy and flexible but it can be used for that if you take it slow and hold it steady. I wouldn't recommend it for pegging necessarily because it slipped around a lot for me when trying to insert it. If you're patient though, go for it, because it does feel very nice and comfortable anally.

The wide base of this toy made it great for use in a harness. You'll need a relatively small O-ring and a harness that isn't too loose to prevent it from slipping around though. That same wide base made the toy very easy to hang onto during solo play as well and I could set it down on a flat surface to ride it, where it would stay pretty well.

Care and Maintenance

Since the utterly delightful VixSkin material is silicone, it can be cleaned in a variety of ways such as toy cleaner, antibacterial soap and water, and boiling it to sterilize it.

I store my Spur by keeping it in its original storage tube. I have read rumors that VixSkin toys can be deformed a bit by extended time spent sitting against a surface and it concerns me a bit that the tube is ever-so-slightly too small for this toy but I think it will be fine. If I see any changes due to the material being pressed against the side of the plastic, I'll let you all know in my future follow-up review.

This product is not compatible with silicone-based lubes and it is recommended you only use water-based with it.

Packaging

Well, the packaging was interesting. The Spur comes in a small, clear plastic tube with a black top and bottom. This makes it very good for storage assuming you can get it open. Yes, I had a lot of trouble getting it open. I eventually ended up using nail scissors to slit the side of the top cap and then was able to pull it off. I can still use it for storage as it is easily removable now.

The packaging isn't discreet, since you can look right at the toy through the plastic, but it's very classy and subtle in design. It has the Vixen logo with the "Worth Every Inch" tagline in black and gold on the front, and on the back there is information about the Vixskin product line, the features of the Spur, cleaning information, and contact information for the company.

I like the packaging overall, and intend to use it as long as it lasts. I just found a tiny hole in the bottom of one of the black plastic caps and I don't know how that happened, so I don't know how durable it will be. I will keep an eye on the packaging and talk about that when I write a follow-up review too.

Personal comments

I am completely in love with this toy. I can't even convey my adoration for it. It's possibly the most comfortable toy I've ever had inside me and it has become the insertable toy I use the most! I used it in many different positions and it felt great in all of them. It could be a tiny bit bigger, but I'm not going to quibble when it has pretty much been perfect for me all around.

Now, you may have read this and thought that you liked certain aspects of the toy but not everything about it. I have tried to help a bit in the similar products section.
- If you like the sound of the Vixskin material but need more size, check out the Mustang.
- If you like small toys but want one that is more rigid and not dual density, check out the small Silk.
- If you want something a little bigger and a different dual density material, check out my review for the O2 Mark!
Follow-up commentary
My silicone cock and I are still going strong. I use the Spur all the time and still think it's worth all the points and pennies someone might spend on it if their preferred size range for toys is anything like mine. Oh, and the more I play with it the more I realize that my body seriously can't tell the difference between it and the real thing once it's suitably warmed up, lubed up, and being used. Either my senses aren't too keen or this thing is incredible, and I'm pretty certain it's the latter.

I haven't had any issues with the packaging being slightly too small for it since I got it despite my concerns and I don't think I'm going to have anything to worry about in the future.

If you have orifices that can't tolerate much size you absolutely have to get this thing right now, I swear.

Thank you for your super helpful review! Thank you for your helpful review on the VixSkin Spur! I'm gonna get this because medically I need a smaller dildo but want a realistic dildo that is soft and feels natural. I'm also interested in trying packing/strap on with the spur as I have a big case of penis envy lol.
