Use

The Ultra Douche is designed to be filled with warm water (and only water!), inserted into the anus, and then by gently depressing its bulb/reservoir; directing the water into your rectum.

An anal douche is mainly used for two reasons: 1) to flush out the anal canal in order to remove any matter that your last bowl movement didn’t take care of in preparation for anal sex; and/or 2) to relieve constipation. The Ultra Douche is effective for both purposes.

Material / Texture

The nozzle is made of polypropylene (#5 plastic); it is hard and completely smooth except for the four indentations around the tip in which the holes are located.

Nozzle

The bulb is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC); it is smooth with a matte finish and is very pliable. This material only rates a 2 on material safety as it is porous and cannot be sanitized.

I didn’t think taste was applicable in this context, so I didn’t put it in my mouth. I did, however, smell it before the first time I used it. The nozzle, unsurprisingly, doesn’t have an odor. The bulb on the other hand does, and this is the best way I can describe the scent; dog toys! It smells like the squeaky toys made for dogs (new ones). This association didn’t bother me as I couldn’t smell it while in use.

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the nozzle is my favorite feature of this product. It is thin and smooth, and the indentations help prevent the holes from becoming clogged. I also like that the bulb is easy to depress.

I did notice a few flaws in the design, however. The worst thing about this product is the material. You can't sanitize it, and for me that's a big design fail because of what the product is used for. Another issue I have is that the bulb doesn't have a flat base therefore you can't set it down without leaning it against something; when I'm using the toilet after douching I don't want to have to lean it against the tub or the sink before I've had a chance to clean it. The last thing I have a problem with is the way the opening of the bulb is designed, but I'll go into that in the Care and Maintenance section.

Quick Points:
• The nozzle is a bit larger than my index finger. I would guess about the circumference of a size 6 ring (Sorry that I can't be more accurate, I don't have a measuring tape.)
• The bulb’s capacity is just shy of 8oz
• There are 5 holes; 4 surrounding the tip of the nozzle and 1 on the tip
• There is a safety collar included to prevent the nozzle from becoming detached from the bulb while in use
• You can fill the bulb by removing the nozzle and pouring water directly into the bulb, or you can fill it once fully assembled by squeezing the bulb and sucking the water up through the nozzle

Performance

The Ultra Douche is simple and works quite well for what it was designed to do. The nozzle is slim enough even for a complete anal novice, like myself, to use without experiencing any pain or discomfort. The bulb is easy to squeeze, and the water flows through the holes easily.

Care and Maintenance

Theoretically, you could use either silicone or water based lubes on this product, however I used a water based because I figured it would be the easiest to clean off of the product. Do not use oil based lube because it can deteriorate the PVC.

The nozzle, being made of plastic, can be cleaned using rubbing alcohol, antibacterial soap, or toy wipes/sprays. It should not be boiled as it may warp or melt.
Since the bulb is made of PVC, you cannot boil it. The best that you can do in respect to cleaning is wash it with antibacterial soap and allow it to fully air dry.

The opening of the bulb has a small lip recessed in it; this lip should be pulled out after cleaning in order to ensure proper drying. Since the opening is small, I would imagine that this would be very difficult to do if you don’t have small fingers.

Packaging

The Ultra Douche comes packaged in clear clam shell case. There is a cardboard insert that simply reads:
• Sleek, Comfortable and Seamless
• Disassembles for Cleaning
• Easy Squeeze Bulb
Manufacturer information is also listed. This product was made in China. There are no instructions included.

In theory, you could store this product in its original packaging but I would not suggest it. Two reasons; it’s not practical and also any residual moisture on or in the douche would not be able to evaporate.

Personal comments

* Be careful to only fill the douche with warm water. If the water is too hot it could scald you're delicate tissues and if it is too cold it could shock your system and cause you to clench up
* You may need to refill the bulb a couple times in order to be completely cleaned out, a good rule of thumb is douche until the water you're evacuating runs clear
* Be very careful not to release pressure on the bulb when you are in the middle of using this product because you could accidentally cause the douche to suck up germy water back into the bulb since you cannot sanitize this product!
* After performing an anal douche it is advised that you should wait at least 2 hours before engaging in anal penetration but it’s always been vague as to why. The primary reason for waiting, I’ve learned, is that your rectum actually produces slight lubrication to prevent abrasions during bowel movements and anal douching washes it away. Waiting 2 hours before being anally penetrated allows time for this natural lubrication to regenerate. While this natural lubrication is important for protecting your delicate tissue. This does not, under any circumstances, mean that you don’t need to use lube.
* Another reason for not immediately diving into anal play after using an anal douche is that all the water (and stuff) may not have made its way to the exit yet! So wait!
* If you live with others, I’d suggest playing some music, turning on the overhead fan (if you have one), or running the shower while you’re on the toilet evacuating to drown out any toilet sounds you may be making
* This product really needs to fully air dry before being stored, and since this can be difficult to do if you share your space with others, you might need to use a hair dryer to speed up the process

Experience

I have been thinking about trying anal for a little while now. However, one big concern has held me back; cleanliness. I know what that part of the body is used for and it’s not pretty. Thankfully, through the helpful folks on the forums, I was introduced to anal douching!
I decided to order the Ultra Douche because the nozzle looked like it would be the most comfortable.

Here’s a basic break down of my experience:
• Washed the douche with antibacterial soap to remove any manufacturing residue
• Filled the bulb up with warm water from the sink, replaced nozzle
• Applied water-based lube to myself and the nozzle
• Got in shower, inserted nozzle, squeezed bulb
• Emptied about half of the contents before accidentally releasing pressure on the bulb
• Removed douche, worried that I might have sucked up bad water back into the bulb
• About a minute later the urge to evacuate came over me
• Jumped out of the shower, sat on toilet and did the necessary
• Got back in shower, finished bathing
• Washed bulb with anti-bacterial soap, poured rubbing alcohol on nozzle, let Ultra Douche air dry disassembled on towel for a couple of hours

Overall, I was happy with the way the Ultra Douche performed. I like that you can use it to relieve constipation as well as to prepare for anal sex. The main thing I don’t like about the Ultra Douche is the material. Considering what this product is used for, I really think that you should be able to sanitize it. Another thing that bumped its rating down for me was that it lacks a flat base. This may not be an issue for some, but it made it tricky for me to apply lube to myself as I could not set it down. For these two reasons I gave this product 3 out of 5 stars. If California Exotics revamped this product by changing the material and giving this product a flat base, I would quickly give this product a 5 star rating.

Excellent review, I agree the material should be different since this is something you are inserting anally. I always dislike that about anal toys, the companies all should be required to make anal toys in a material that can be sanitized. I know

You had me at being used for constipation. I get a lot of that and could use something to help out. The only thing that would turn me off is the material dang it why does it have to be PVC? Great review, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading! @JustLikeHeaven, the Fetish Fantasy Elite Douche is made of silicone so it can be sterilized so it may be a better option. Also it looks like CalEx is coming out with the Booty Blaster whose bulb is also made of silicone. But I loved the nozzle on this one so much more than the others! Too bad.. I do recommend anal douches in general, though. They are very effective and useful.

I'm a bit lost. What is the reason the product cannot be sanitized? And when you say sanitized, what methods of sanitization are you referring to?
