Magnum - strap-on dildo by Fun Factory - review by Gunsmoke

Before going on a little tirade - I want to say that the Magnum is a very well made premium silicone dildo - but!

I read all 17 prior reviews for the Magnum - only 2 of them bothered to actually measure the size of the toy vs. the standard description! Many didn't mention it all - but some actually parroted the 1.75" diameter described on the product page.

The reality is that it is much smaller than that. The shaft is 1-3/8" - measured around the head it is 1.5". The stated 1.75" is a huge overstatement. The desirability of size is very is very personal - many of the reviewers found the Magnum too large for their taste - but for us a true 1.75" dildo like the Vixskin Johnny or G4 Big Boss is a desirable feature. So needless to say when this showed up we were both underwhelmed!

The length is similarly overstated. The Magnum is 7.25" long - not 8" as advertised - all but 0.5" is insertable because of the unique and effective suction cup base.

So if after understanding the true size of the Magnum you are still interested - you're in luck. The Magnum can be used for all conceivable dildo configurations including:
Solo vaginal and/or anal play
Partner vaginal and/or anal play
Harness vaginal and/or anal play
Suction-cup vaginal and/or anal play
Pillow vaginal and/or anal play (Liberator Bon Bon, Pulse & Wing)
Combined with other toys or partners for double-penetration

The level of error in the description contrasted by the usefulness of the Magnum make rating this toy a difficult call. The description is so far off I would give it a 1 star - for it's usefulness I would give it a 5 star - the result is I opted for 3 stars which is really misleading - averages do not always work.

This is the cautionary tale - read the reviews before you buy - and read enough reviews to get the whole story!

High quality silicone comes in three basic formulations; Classic/firm with a shiny finish, classic with a matte finish and dual-density (like O2 & Vixskin). Magnum is a classic/firm silicone with a matte finish.

The Magnum is pseudo-realistic because it has a head like a penis - but not shaped precisely like the real thing. Combined with the perfect smoothness - contrasted to more textured realistic designs - and the non-realistic color options (ours is black), make Magnum a good choice for those who prefer non-realistic designs.

Although the shaft is smooth - it is firm. Your need for lubrication will depend on natural lubrication and whether you consider the Magnum large or small. We use lubrication routinely.

The smooth texture is something that beginners may like more than experienced users who may prefer some texture.

The shaft is curved and has a head that are both presumably designed for g-spot stimulation. Whether it works for you will depend on the location and sensitivity of your g-spot.

Since I've ranted about the size already - let me just state the facts. The Magnum is 7.25" long with 6.75" insertable. The shaft is 1-3/8" in diameter with the head protruding to 1.5". The shaft has a slight g-spot curve - and the firm shaft should make it possible for you to move the shaft in a way that adds good g-spot contact.

For us the Magnum is on the small side - for this reason we use the toy in two ways:

1.) Anal for me - we don't peg - so the clover shaped 3-lobe handle is useful for thrusting and making sure that the toy remains pointed in the proper orientation.
2.) DP for my wife. With a vibrating toy inserted anally (she likes Uma and Mona for this), the Magnum makes a good vaginal dildo.

As far as travel is concerned - we're not shy we take a lot of toys with us. But we're not into flaunting it - so we check our luggage with toys. I suppose this will get through the carry on screening - but we don't care to test that theory.

The Magnum is a great high quality toy. The smooth texture makes it especially useful for anal play - whether you prefer manual, suction cup or harness play - the base is designed to accommodate all of these.

Vaginally it can be just as useful - assuming its the right size for you.

As a component of DP play it can serve well as either the vaginal or anal penetrator - but we found that it didn't work that well in our Wing - it proved too stiff and lacked sufficient curve for comfortable DP.

For those times when you find yourself alone - you will find that the Magnum's suction-base is more effective than it appears. It doesn't look anything like a 'suction cup' - but it has enough of a concave to work very well an any smooth surface.

For hands free solo play simply insert Magnum into your Bon Bon or other dildo-pillow, mount it and ride to your hearts content - with both hands free for clirotal play - or to orchestrate your favorite vibe!

Silicone is beloved by those of who enjoy sex toys because of it's safety and easy to clean and disinfect. We all know that silicone lube and silicone toys do not mix - but your favorite water-based formula will work great. I've read a variety of opinions about the use oil-based lubes for silicone toys. For the Magnum we use the oil-based Boy Butter. There has been absolutely no adverse effects of using BB or our other favorite YES oil-based lube.

We also alternate between vaginal and anal use of this toy (not in the same session) - some would automatically use a condom - which is probably the preferred solution. We don't - we are long ago 'fluid bonded' and have found that normal sanitary use of soap and water is sufficient. Occasionally I'll add an alcohol wipe for disinfection.

There are no hard to clean nooks or crevices - and the silicone is non-porous, so your safety is assured.

The Magnum comes in a Fun Factory paper box with a customized plastic insert to hold it in place and prevent damage during shipment and storage. It is certainly suitable for storage - but we don't, I discarded/recycled the container.

Fun Factory always includes a sample of water-based lube and multilingual care instruction guide.

Although I purchased this toy to expand my anal experience to larger toys beyond my current 1.5" comfort zone, I found the experience quite pleasurable. The firm silicone eased entry, the length is adequate without being challenging and the shafts slight curve and smooth texture makes for easy stroking.

I also think what I learned is that if I'm going to go larger than 1.5" anally - I should look for a softer dual density silicone - probably Vixskin.

My wife is just starting to explore the unique joys and challenges of DP. Using the Magnum vaginally with an anal vibe proved to be a success - however using the Magnum with the Wing did not work.

For my wife to enjoy DP we're learning that it's all about angles. So we pulled out the Liberator Wedge and placed it under her hips. Because the unique angle created by the Wedge I was able to enter her anally and have space to slip the Magnum in vaginally - although it was a tight fit - the experiment proved successful.

Toy versatility is important - and this is probably the biggest advantage of the Magnum.
