What is this?

The Purple Swirl is a non-phallic shaped dildo made of borosilicate, or tempered, or Pyrex glass (all are names for the same substance). Pyrex glass receives a safety rating of 10 here at Eden, because it’s non-porous and easy to sanitize. It has a slight curve to stimulate your g-spot.



Wait, glass… is that even safe?

Great question! Glass toys are quite safe, when used responsibly. The glass these toys are made of is not the same kind your drinking glasses are made of. Those glasses break and shatter very easily, but borosilicate glass is much sturdier. It’s is so safe and resistant to temperature changes and chemicals that it’s commonly used in laboratory settings and for cooking. If borosilicate glass does break, it breaks into really big chunks, rather than shattering, making it much safer.

Glass toys are very safe, and it’s highly unlikely one would ever break during use. They are still susceptible to damage though, so there are a few precautions you can take to keep your glass toy safe and in pristine condition. Don’t drop it on a hard surface, don’t store it unprotected with other glass, stone or metal toys (they can jostle each other causing possible scratches). Store your glass toy in a padded pouch, or wrap it in a towel and put it in a sock. Don’t submerge your glass toy into ice water immediately after boiling it, and don’t place your glass toy near an open flame. Always inspect your toy before use to check it for cracks, scratches or chips.

With some basic care, your glass toy can safely last you a lifetime.



Design/Shape/Measurements

Since glass toys are all made by hand, their measurements will vary slightly. My Purple Swirl measures:

Total length: 7.5”
Insertable length: 6”
Circumference of both heads: 4.5”
Diameter of both heads: 1.4”
Circumference of shaft 3.25”
Diameter of shaft: 1”

While the Swirl has two heads, only one is meant for insertion. That head is tapered to aid insertion, while the other is flat.

The lovely g-spot curve on this toy is about the same as the curve on the Bumpy Spiral Double Dong, Icicles No. 24 and the Gold Laced G. The Purple Swirl’s curve is more pronounced than the curve of the Midnight Twist.



The Amazing Don Wands Padded Pouch!

This pouch is world famous (or it should be)! It is, hands down, the BEST pouch for glass toys. It measures 9”x5.5”, with padding that is about 1” thick. It’s made of 100% polyester, and should be hand washed in cold water, and hung to dry. The pink pouch sports a black drawstring at the top with a plastic clip that will hold it closed no matter what.

What’s the bad news? Don Wands no longer includes their fabulous pink padded pouch with their glass toys. My Purple Swirl still came with one, so there are still some wands in stock that have pouches included, but once the current stock is exhausted that will be the end of it. (The current Bent Graduate stock no longer has a pouch included, but other wands may.) The pouches can still be purchased directly from Don Wands for $12 with a $9.99 shipping and handling fee. If enough of us request it, maybe Eden will start carrying them too!



Use/Experience

~Lube~

One of the things I like best about glass toys is that they’re compatible with any lubricant. So feel free to use your favorite! Another great thing about glass is that it’s naturally slick and glides easily, so you don’t need as much lube as you normally do. You may end up doing fine with no lube at all, or just a little saliva. This toy was made to move!


~Cleaning~

This toy, like all glass toys, is exceptionally easy to clean. Washing it after every use with hot water and regular soap is quite sufficient. Glass is also very easy to sanitize, if you want to share this toy, or just make it squeaky clean. It can safely be boiled, soaked in a bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water), wiped down with alcohol or sent it through the dishwasher on the top rack. Any kind of toy cleaner or wipe can be used to clean it up too, but that isn’t a substitute for a thorough washing. Be especially careful to wash around the swirls.

~Thrusting~

If you enjoy thrusting your penetrative toys, you can still enjoy that with the Purple Swirl. Just remember that glass is hard and unyielding, so if you’re new to using glass please proceed with caution! Thrusting that is too deep or too vigorous can bruise the cervix. I’ve never had this happen, but I know many who have and they say it hurts. Go slow at first until you get a feel for it.


~Girthiness~

When you normally shop for penetrative toys, you more than likely know what diameter (or girth) is your favorite. You may need to adjust that guideline a bit with glass. Glass generally feels thicker (or girthier) than other toys because it has no give to it. You might be better off looking at diameters that are about ¼” or ½” smaller than what you normally use.


~Texture~

As the name implies, the Purple Swirl has one swirl that winds down the shaft of the toy. The swirl is about ¼” in width, and adds mere millimeters to the circumference. The swirls are spaced about ¾” apart down the shaft of the toy. This toy would be perfect for anyone who doesn’t like a lot of texture on their glass toy.


~Experience~

One of the great things about this glass toy is how well it holds temperature. I really enjoy running warm water over it to warm it up to body temperature, but it can be just as fun to chill it with cool water. At room temperature it feels cool to the touch. You shouldn’t warm this toy in the microwave, nor chill it in the freezer before use because that could cause you injury. Just use warm or cool water to change the temperature slightly.

The spirals really are not felt internally during use. They can be felt around the vaginal opening, but are very subtle. This toy will be best appreciated by people who, like me, do not like much texture on their glass toys. This toy had just enough texture not to be boring, but not so much it’s uncomfortable.

This toy is designed to be used with the head pointing up towards your navel. But I found it’s just as enjoyable to use it with the head pointing down towards your spine. These two different ways of using the toy simply stimulate different internal areas, and provide some really nice variety during use. You can switch it up and enjoy it both ways.

The base of the toy is really easy to hold onto and didn’t become terribly slippery. Some other glass toys that are a bit shorter can get really slippery after a little while, but that hasn’t happened with this one so far. That will, of course, differ from person to person, and even from encounter to encounter with the same person, depending on how much lube you use, and how much your body is naturally producing.

The Purple Spiral even feels good outside your body! The spirals provide some really nice texture when rubbing this toy around externally for clitoral stimulation. When it’s warmed and then used externally it feels especially nice and relaxing.
