Use

For those who don't know PicoBong is a line of toys from Lelo that have lower prices and run on battery power as opposed to being rechargeable making it more affordable for people to pick up some Lelo toys. The PicoBong Ako, also known as an "outie vibe", is a clitoral vibrator designed to deliver more pinpointed vibrations to the clitoris. This toy is not meant to be inserted and really is not long enough to do so.

The Ako is fully waterproof to a depth of one meter making it a great option for those who enjoy bath time or shower play. It also makes it super easy to clean this toy because you don't have to worry about submerging and ruining the motor.

This vibrator is great for beginners or for those who enjoy external stimulation. Women will get the most use out of it clitorally, but this can be used to externally stimulate penis heads and shafts, testicles, nipples or around the anal opening so men can also get some use from this toy.

Do NOT insert this tiny vibrator anally! It will become lost and you'll be taking a trip to the emergency room for an oh so embarrassing experience while they remove it for you. That said, those who need internal, g-spot or p-spot stimulation or size queens should look elsewhere.

The Ako is great for teasing foreplay with a partner, clitoral stimulation during sex if you can get the right angle and hold it there or just for some solo fun times.

Material / Texture

The Ako is made from body-safe, FDA approved silicone and plastic and is available in blue, purple and fuchsia.

Silicone has a safety rating of 10/10 and repels dirt and bacteria. It's also smooth, non-porous, retains heat, is matte in appearance and has a tendency to collect lint, dust and hairs.

Plastic has a saftey rating of 8/10 and is non-porous and phthalate-free with firm, smooth texture but in the case of this toy it is ridged and shiny.

Neither of the materials had an odor upon opening the packaging but the toy should still be washed before the first initial use to be sure there isn't anything lurking on it from transit, etc.

The silicone does grab on skin but some water based lubricant will help with that. Spot test with silicone lubricant before using on silicone toys to make sure you won't ruin the material.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Smooth silicone

Design / Shape / Size

The Ako is a 5" long and 1 1/2" wide somewhat seed-shaped vibrator so it's perfectly sized for traveling, just stick it in your purse in a Ziploc bag. It is slightly curved and tapers at the silicone end to about 1/2" or so to deliver more pinpointed vibrations. The three buttons for operation are set into the silicone on one side and there is a plastic battery cap on the end.

There is also a loop of plastic on the tip of the battery cap where you can slide through and secure the string for the PicoBong logo "lanyard". "Pico" is done in blue and "Bong" is done in purple, both on a white background, and it measures about 2" or so long.

The only seam in the Ako is where the battery cap meets the silicone body so as long as you're not trying to insert this all should be well. It is possible to catch some fluids in that spot so keep the fluids to a minimum and it shouldn't be a problem.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The control area on the Ako has three buttons: "+", "M" and "-". To turn on the Ako press and hold the "+" button for a few seconds and you start out on low constant vibrations. Keep pressing the "+" button to go up in vibration intensity until you reach the highest setting. Press the "-" button to go back down in vibration intensity or hold down for a few seconds to turn the toy off.

Once you have the toy turned on and at your preferred level of intensity you can press the "M" button to start the vibration patterns. Keep pressing the "M" button to cycle through all the patterns until you come back to the constant vibration setting you were on before pressing the pattern button. While on a pattern setting you can press the "-" button to lower the intensity of the vibrations in that pattern.

Here's a picture I found on the PicoBong website to describe the various patterns:

The controls on the Ako are not lockable for travel so removing the two AAA batteries would be best to avoid accidentally turning this on while in transit or at the airport. From the User Manual: "Please Note: Rechargeable batteries result in decreased vibration intensity."

The Ako is not loud enough to be heard through a closed door, but maybe slightly through blankets if the room you're in is totally quiet. Just turn on some music to cover the light buzzing and you should be able to use this in a dormitory.

Care and Maintenance

Since it's waterproof cleaning the PicoBong Ako is simple. Just wash with warm water and antibacterial soap or toy cleaner or wipe it down with a toy wipe. Allow to dry before storing and do not boil or toss this in the dishwasher if you want the motor to continue working.

There was no storage pouch included with the Ako but putting it in a plastic Ziploc style bag to keep the lint off of it will do just fine. You can toss this with your other toys in a drawer or on a shelf or wherever you keep your toys stored.

Packaging

The PicoBong Ako came in a purple box with a plastic peek through window on the front. The PicoBong logo is on the top of the box, "Ako Outie Vibe" is on the bottom and some key points about the toy are on the left side of the plastic window. The back of the box has more information about the toy, a pic showing the toy and some attributes of it along with the PicoBong website listed on the bottom.

Included in the box is a User Manual, a One Year Warranty booklet and a Do/Don't list.

The packaging is terrible for storage because you basically have to rip the inside cardboard just to get the toy out. It also has a tendency to arrive with the window section dented in so I would just recycle it and use something else for storage.

The box is not discreet since it claims it's an "Outie Vibe" and the toy is visible from one side so wrapping before gifting is a must or up to your discretion.

    • Not discreet
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative

Personal comments

I don't know if anyone else had the same problem but I had some trouble at first getting the battery cap to line up properly with the batteries in it and it was a pain to close. I probably struggled with it for a few minutes before finally getting it to close properly.

This toy gets 4 out of 5 stars because it runs on batteries instead of being rechargeable and the battery cap is a pain.
    • Tough battery cap

Experience

Apparently I'm the kind of girl that really likes pinpoint clitoral stimulation. I didn't know that until I tried out this toy and had an awesome orgasm in no time. By the way just a little bit of lube goes a long way since this isn't meant to be inserted anywhere.

I was pleasantly surprised by the power this toy had since it's battery operated. I prefer the rechargeable vibrations of my Mimi because they're stronger and more rumbly but I really like that the Ako offers pinpointed vibrations that the Mimi can't really deliver for me.
Follow-up commentary
This is a great affordable little clitoral vibrator and I would recommend it to others. It's still in pretty good condition with occasional use and the batteries are still going strong.
